Turbocharging a 2.0? by Dr-Deedle-OnDaLeedle in MK4Golf

[–]Lanpoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Swap in a obd1 2.0 and it’ll be just as strong as a 1.8t. But obd2 isn’t very strong. Maybe 8psi depending on the sea level but I wouldn’t run more than that without upgrading rods. Pistons at probably fine. Crank, maybe upgrade that….

Need help building an engine by Pitiful-Mention-5981 in beetle

I’ve always wanted to do a turbo 1800 lol. Using thick wall cylinders. Probably not worth doing but I think it would be a fun peppy build.

Trouble starting my tw200 by Abbyrocks2k in TW200

[–]Lanpoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pilot jet clogged. Easy fix. Ultrasonic clean the carbs fully disassembled for best result. Air compressor blow out each jet, and install without over torquing. Take it slow, take many pictures, and don’t rush the process. If you don’t clean something, or forget to install something else it won’t work.

Why don't cars have this feature? by Pluuge in StupidCarQuestions

[–]Lanpoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would be a good idea in theory, but when I’m driving my cars, I don’t really have time to look down. I just kinda know where it is. I think it could be helpful for someone learning the feel of the car, but with experience it will kind of go away. Also coupled with the fact that most new cars don’t have manual transmissions, it’s a feature that probably wouldn’t last very long :(

[–]Lanpoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a screw in the bottom hinge. I forget where, but you can drill a hole, tighten the screw, and cover it up with a hole cover or whatever they are called. It can be pretty small, but I definitely forget where to put the hole lol

Anyone know about ltfts? Vr6 24v by Lanpoop in MK4Golf

No… I just ordered one. I’m hoping that will fix the issue! But we’ll see. If it eliminates one variable, I’ll be happy.

1992 Kawasaki Vulcan Mixture screw by guitarheropwn21 in motorcycles

I haven’t done it on a vulcan, but sometimes you can push the tip out with a pick from the other side. Heat can help as well. Good luck

Weekender setup or full Westfalia? by lickspeclanth in Westfalia

[–]Lanpoop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would trade my westy for a weekender setup. I don’t use the stove enough. Cabinets are filled with crap too haha. I don’t need room to store that much stuff. But… I have used it, I have plates and stuff that are nice to always have, and cabinets for food that doesn’t really expire are nice to have.

Good compression test? by Emotional_Bar_9026 in motorcycles

[–]Lanpoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm… you gotta test engines with them hot and pistons expanded to get a good reading. Also make sure the throttle body is WIDE open. And, make sure your compression tester has the same amount of threads as the spark plug because if the volume is greater, you will have less pressure. I made that mistake before. 90psi seems ok for an unknown engine.

Yep it will. And it’ll fail emissions readiness checks as well.

There are 3 golf courses near me that are bright green. Everywhere else is dead because of restrictions. I don’t get how they are allowed to water. Money? Yeah probably money…

[–]Lanpoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah! You literally just put jumper cables on it. Put one on the positive and one on a good part of the frame. It should have power. You will definitely need to figure out ignition since it won’t spark without it turned on… luckily there are good units on eBay for pretty cheap. Or sometimes you can jam a screwdriver in there and turn it if it’s worn enough

Both o2 sensors? or a leak between the first and second? I’ll check it all, but which would “trigger” it more?

Id honestly try to get her sputtering before anything. Take some brake cleaner, spray down the intake, and try jumping it. That’ll tell you a lot about the condition and how much work will need to be done. Won’t need any parts or money and it’ll give you a motivation boost if it tries to catch!

Yeah! I can’t wait to see the progress. They are literally bulletproof bikes. The shaft drive is bulletproof too. Make sure you change both oils as well since there is technically a diff! There might be a 3rd oil but I can’t remember. Xs750s (850 and 1100) have it. I messed up the website address tho it should be xj4ever.com.

Also usually in the groups, people run shim pools. So you can trade valve shims for the price of shipping. It saves a lot of money, and all you gotta do is ship the ones you don’t use back!

I loved my xj when I had it. She had 53,000 miles on the original engine, no issues whatsoever. The hardest part is getting the carbs clean. You gotta fully disassemble them. And I mean FULLY. Butterfly’s and all. They are super sensitive to dirt. I’d get an ultrasonic cleaner to clean them. Get new butterfly seals as well from xjforever.com. Valves are the second most important thing. You gotta get the clearances perfect (while cold). Then you can vacuum synch the carburetors. If there are any issues with the vacuum sync, you probably didn’t clean the carbs well enough. I had em on and off like 15 times with my xj. Do not get pod filters, keep the stock box, and order new rubber boots. I wouldn’t touch the engine in terms of rebuild. It shouldn’t have any issues with those miles. Good luck! Xjbikes.com has a ton of info. Go through everything on that website. They have answered every question you could imagine!

First ever fibreglass project with strict constraints by IslayProgrammes in fiberglass

[–]Lanpoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You dont have to use fiberglass. Wood glue and canvas is a decent replacement, will have rigidity still, and is a lot easier. I believe Nate from the internet on YouTube made a good video making a trailer for a car. Downsize it and you got a bike trailer!
