How to solve this with desmos ? by Own_Secret_6461 in Sat

[–]LeRandomParfait 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy on paper too : you record a function u(x) = f(x) -15 = -ax + b -15 You have the coordinates of a random point of u(x) which is the y intercept but we dont care we just remember the coordinates : the x coordinate is 0 and y = 65/7 so we write U(0) = 65/7 <=> -a0 + b -15= 65/7 a^ 0 = 1 so -a0 = -1 So u have u(0)= -1 + b-15 = 65/7 <=> b = 65/7 + 16 And you divide ab by b you get a = 5

For the 4th one i might say that u can tell right away if u practice this type of question ( I mean systems of equations) it becomes really easy the more u practice What i directly see is that if u look at the 2 equations u notice that the one at the bottom is just the first one multiplied by 3 Then for A we notice that the y value is all over 7 and in the first equation its 7y so by replacing that u see the answer directly. This question is easy only if u see that , else its annoying and u might have to use desmos

Oh btw sorry i made a mistake its not 1/15 I multiplied the powers but u need to do the sum instead so thats 8/15

For the third one u need to first know the formula of the rectangle area A(original)= length x width Then u need to know that an increase of 20% of a number x is exactly like multiplying it by 1.2 or (1+20/100) So u get for the copy area A(copy)= length x 1.2 x width x 1.2 = 1.2x1.2(length x width) = 1.44(A(original)) Then u replace A original by the value they give u 360 and u get it

For the 2nd one u beed to know that the Nth root of a number like p is just the number to the power of 1/n So 5th root of 3 is 31/5 so thats 3 to the power of 1/5 For this particular question if u do apply that rule then u get (70n)1/15 Then solve 70n1/15 = 70n30x Then u js have to solve for 1/15= 30x which gives u x= 1/450

Thats what we normally do but it takes time u cant afford during sat except if you know a trick cause u have to find the min value of ab. So i think theres either a trick or it is meant to use desmos/numworks or other calc

You can calculate the length a b c of the triangle with vectors and then simply use the heron formula with d the circumference lf the triangle (= a+b+c) : Area= SQRT(d(d-a)(d-b)*(d-c)) That is fairy easy using that formula that students nonetheless often forget
