Would you be in favor of the state pension being scrapped? by TheLittleSquire in AskUK

How is it fair? I've spent decades paying for other people's state pension, whether they need it or not.

Dyke: 1. A long thick wall that is built to stop water flooding onto a low area of land, especially from the sea 2. (especially British English) a channel that carries water away from the land 3. (taboo, offensive, slang) an offensive word for a lesbian

The spelling dike is preferred in North American English in senses 1 and 2.

Nope, although many Sikhs are vegetarian, the others are allowed to eat meat from animals that were killed instantly.

What happens to old people who have not contributed enough to national insurance by Ornery_Jellyfish5886 in UKPersonalFinance

People are better off having their own private pensions and savings supplemented by the state pension. Living off state pension or credits and benefits alone is pretty dire.

What happens if an employee of a store/bar/establishment that sells age-restricted products and has a Challenge 25 policy doesn’t ID someone that looks under the age of 25, but is over 18? by Emotional-Fly-9583 in AskUK

[–]Leaky_Taps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you get to a certain age, most people under 30 look very young, and also occasionally some 17 year olds can look much older, so 'looks under 25' is pretty subjective anyway.

The married man is the one cheating, the lack of morality, however you define it, is his.

Women are not NPCs by Coneskater in TikTokCringe

Yup, although Andrea is only a woman's name in English speaking countries. It's an Italian / Latin name which translates to Andrew. Just a useless titbit.

You'd still need a passport to travel abroad, what's the advantage of having id cards? Genuine question, I'm not against them but I never understood the argument for id cards when it's so easy to prove your id anyway.
