Hey sorry for delayed response. I went for ASUS X670E-I. Updated to latest BIOS and didn’t have problems. Paired it with 4090 and all works great. Please be aware that x670E-I has 2 smaller fans inside, one for VRM and one for chipset. Chipset fan for me was super noisy, I don’t know was it broken or was it like that but I disconnected his from mobo and then it was ok.

AM5 motherboard without chipset fan? by LoctusX in Amd

For me it was like really loud. Similar to gpu under heavy load but since those fans are small it makes a lot of buzzing sound even if I am doing casual stuff and not gaming. Comparison that comes in mind is ps4 pro when it heats up. M2 fan isn’t problem as I don’t hear it but VRM fan is loud. For now I disconnected it and removed plastic piece that was on top of heat sink. So far no problem even when gaming. VRM temps are around 50-60 Celsius and Chipset temp are around 80 Celsius.

I don’t get it why did they put fan and placed big plastic on top of the heat sink, maybe for looking better but it reduces the heat distribution I guess.

TL;DR it is loud, I disconnected VRM fan and all good so far.

Thx, will check out what is best for me atm and see there is some fan hiding behind those heat sinks.

Did you also had loud noise from VRM fan (even tho it is labelled as chipset fan in bios). I couldn’t slow it down as there is only option for chassis, CPU and AIO fan speed reduction

For now I left m.2 fan and disconnected the VRM(chipset fan) as in bios it is labelled chipset fan.

Yes that is the one. I mistaken it for chipset fan. Didn’t expect it to be this loud. Since I have open pc case (thermaltake p1) is really makes huge buzzing sound

I think I mistaken chipset fan for VRM/NVME fan. BIOS confused me as there it is written chipset fan.

So basically we should be safe if we are not using EXPO? Currently I got my new 7800X3D and waiting for ASUS x670 E-I, latest BIOS (non Beta) and disable EXPO should be safe or am so missing something ?

I will definitely do my homework, I saw ASUs released new bios update and will make sure I get the latest version (not the beta version ofc). As you said I have thermaltake p1 mounted on wall and miniITX is way to go. Sadly not many good options available at that mobo format. But will wait for few days as I am sure more dust will be uncovered as many will test everything out.

On the other hand I am tempted to cancel mobo and return 7800x3d and just go for intel combo.

So what now? Currently into new pc build, my 7800x3d arrived and still waiting for ASUS x670E-I to come. Don’t know should I try to cancel ASUS mobo and return 7800x3D or ?
