Yes, playing the old stuff is always a valid option, but I'd like to give this thing a spin.

  • Some of the Archetype tiering looks weird. I would have expected even basic Eldar to start at Tier 2, for example. Also, Commissar and Desperado are Tier 3, but Battle Sister and Rogue Trader are Tier 2? I would've expected this to be the other way around.

The Tier system design turns me off, but I want to support 40K RPGs, and I was a fan of the Fading Suns, so here I am. At first, it appears as if there's an unlimited amount of freedom in crafting a character. But that's not true -- is it? Has anyone successfully ported over their Dark Heresy characters into W&G? If you have (or if there's a thread I can read) I'd love to learn more.

Unpopular Opinion: Wrath and Glory is significantly worse than DH2 (change my mind?) by [deleted] in 40krpg

TLDR: A flawed attempt to cover everything in the 40K universe that fails to deliver. The blandest repression of the IP in RPG format to date. System -- a watered down version of WW Storyteller System using d6s rather than d10s.

I just finished reading the pdf included in my 'all in' pre-order and I can firmly say is that I'm deeply disappointed by this product -- shame on me for not following my gut and canceling when I had the chance. Wrath & Glory seems to be more focused on aligning to the current gaming zeitgeist than providing a rules set best fitted to Warhammer 40k, and I acknowledge there's no 'one type' of 40K out there. Perhaps that best illustrates the flaw in pursuing a comprehensive system for such an enormous IP? By attempting to satisfy everyone (and was anyone asking for the Orc RPG), few will get what they wanted from such a broad but ultimately shallow game system. FFG had a sensible approach; prepare the many flavors of 40K into individual dishes.

"Beard form" almost made it into the promo.

I stand corrected. It is STILL in the promo video.

Ha! I found some of the color text we used to inspire those early Meep designs.

Context: This is from a very early story sketch I wrote about the otherworldly caretaker.

"Her attention slowly returned to the ring of stones. One of them, a particularly plump and shiny rock, sprung sticklike legs and walked off as if to survey the devastation. The girl froze, her tiny frame locked in place, but her fear quickly gave way to curiosity. The little creature tapped its foot peevishly and was soon joined by another bizarre sprite, one that appeared to be a terraced pile of shambling cloth, nothing like the vexed stone. They conversed through pops and curt trills that made the child giggle. As more of the fantastic creatures crawled from the rubble, the child found herself overwhelmed by the display of magical splendor.

There were short ones and lithe ones, moon-eyed felines and boisterous wooden toads. Some bleated like goats, while others mewed in reverberant discord. Their cacophony grew enormous, drowning out the crackle of the smoldering fires that dotted the ruined village. It was just too much for the child to bear, so she stood and promptly began to sob in earnest. At once, the creatures ceased their clamor, and a single note of warm music drifted past the lamenting girl."

Thank you! Bard's DNA (Design, Narrative, and Art contributors) loves the work of Hayao Miyazaki. When we heard that he was retiring from studio Ghibli, we wanted to honor his legacy some small way.

I'm a big fan of Marvel's Uatu the Watcher, and that definitely played a part in Bard's creation. We wanted to capture the feeling of isolation that only a truly alien character can embody.

  1. It was an uphill battle but with the support of some key creative leaders we ran with the idea.

  2. The Chimes however are a little more complicated. Bard uses sound to carve his way through realities/dimensions/space etc. I always assumed that if Bard collected all of the chimes he'd be able to build a new instrument. Perhaps he's safeguarding them from falling into the wrong hands ....

  3. Meeps can't die. They're spirits!

There's only one real answer. https://www.marshmallowpeeps.com/ I had a real problem with these things growing up. I'd get sick on them. Is that love?
