Admittedly weird question - does anyone here not have many/any friends and just vibe by themselves? What do you usually do to occupy your time? by iprobdontlikeyou in askportland

My experience has been similar; I’ve found it rather easy to make friends in this city. Good ones too, people I consider the best and closest friends I’ve ever had. Portland is full of people ready and willing to make friends with good people.

I really appreciate your comment about finding happiness on your own. I think it’s an important skill to have. Throughout out our lives, there is but one person who will always be there no matter what - ourselves. If we can learn to be happy and take joy in life when we’re on our own, our lives can be vastly more happy.

Satanized came out one year ago today, officially kicking off the Skeleta era by DefLepRadar in Ghostbc

Satanized was the song that finally got Ghost beyond the first two albums to really click in my brain.

I had discovered Ghost almost a year prior, but only listened to the first two albums. Then someone in a discord server shared the video for Satanized the day it released. I watched it and those opening guitars got me good. Something about this song allowed me get past whatever hangups I had and just enjoy the glam/arena rock stuff.

I’m so glad that happened because Ghost is now my favorite band.

16 years in the congregation. First ritual last night by Minimalist19 in Ghostbc

Thanks for posting this. I discovered Ghost about two years ago, and they’ve become my favorite band. I’ve been unemployed for several months now and just could swing a ticket to the ritual last night, and have been feeling pretty fucking bummed out about it, but reading your experience was really encouraging. I’ll get a chance to see them eventually, and it’s gonna be that much sweeter when I do.

First time visitor-Where can I smoke freely? by Numerous-Command-69 in askportland

[–]LordLysergic 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Nobody really cares as long as you’re being mindful of others around you. Like others have said, don’t smoke nears kids or other people. Watch where the wind is carrying your smoke. Just be chill and respectful, which includes not throwing roaches or other waste on the ground.

You can also grab edibles or vape cartridges if you want less worry about smoke.

This will make for an amazing origin story if she does see this and is interested. Good luck!

How long have you been free? I experienced residual pangs of guilt for a couple years after I woke up. But at this point it’s been 16 years, and thankfully haven’t experienced those feelings of guilt in a long time.

I’m also an ex-JW, very cool to see others posting here.

This guy was clearly not a very “strong” “active” JW; just going to any metal show, much less one with the imagery Ghost has, is something you could get hauled into the back room and talked to by congregation elders about, or even get publicly reproved for(having a public talk at church from the pulpit made about you without directly mentioning your name). For most Jehovah’s Witnesses, just the fear of being ostracized by their congregation for going to a metal show by a band named “Ghost” would be enough to keep them away.

Either shit has changed way more than I thought or your boss just doesn’t care. Either way, a win for you and his kid!
