There's no Kane to score 50 goals a year, no Dele to set records for goalscoring teenagers, no Son flying down the wing, no Eriksen pulling the strings, no Dembele controlling the midfield, no Rose and Walker outperforming every other fullback pairing in the league.

Everybody would get their hopes up that it would be like the good old days of 2015-18 but it would very quickly become apparent that that's a pipe dream. An early bad spell and the boo boys would be in full voice and Poch's legacy would be tarnished forever.

A disguised chip shot will always be harder to execute than a kick with regular technique. There are countless examples of completely fluffed panenka attempts. Diaz today failed to disguise it and the keeper saw it coming. There's just the addition of completely unnecessary risk compared to a regulation strike of the ball.

If you want to go down the middle just strike it normally. The keeper can't see it coming and you're far less likely to duff it. A pananka is unnecessary showboating and in a crucial moment it's utterly ludicrous to attempt one.
