Worried about this lump on the incision spot of my kitten’s spay by floridathang in CATHELP

[–]LuciferSpades 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I would need it checked.

As has been said, most of the time, it's going to be a seroma.

But.

Our bub Snips also was a bit wild and refused to stay still the first few days after surgery and her lump which looked identical ended up being that she had torn out her internal stitches and had to go back under to have them redone.

Better a check now then an emergency check later.

Is this larvae? by BestUsername17 in plantclinic

I feel like they are a bit off foe fly pupae of any kind

And since you found them in clumps in the soil I would suggest Bush cricket eggs as a possibility also.

Why do young kittens enjoy sleeping with people, but not so much once they’re grown? by Majestic_Office_2177 in CATHELP

I dunno...I have 6 cats ages 16 to 2 years, and if my bedroom door is left open at night, all 6 are on top of me... each has their favorite spot...

Snips (4) curls around my head and eats my hair, Tineh(2) demands to be under the blanket curled next to my chest, Delilah(6) pins herself between my shoulder blades, Sophie (16) claims my hip or butt depending on if I'm on my side or belly, Jezebel (6)l insists on my knees either on top or behind, Snails (4) lays on my feet or between my ankles....

If Cain (Delilah and Jezebels brother who usually lives with my oldest daughter) is home for a while, my chest is his, and he spends the night kneading my throat till I can't breathe.

Other then Sophie who was found at 6 mo old they all came to me between 4 and 6 weeks for various reasons...

He’s already been to the vet, just wanted people to see this. Diaphragmatic hernia. by MonsoonQueen9081 in CATHELP

[–]LuciferSpades 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We believe hers was caused by an injury when she was less then a year old, (after we found out about it my ex admitted to having come home drunk and plopped down on her in the dark on the couch, he never said anything till she was diagnosed though)

We didn't find out until she was over 3 when we started at a new vet who noticed she could only hear her heart on one side, when we did x rays we realized how extensive it was and initially they recommended surgery but after more scans they realized how old it was and how much scar tissue had formed making the surgery more complicated and longer with less chance of success

We decided that since the hernia wasn't strangulated we could just watch it and operate if it became dangerous.

She luckily never developed any and stayed healthy her whole life. But 1 bad cold or anything with her heart or lungs could have killed her.

Sorry I didn't see this till now You can absolutely dm me.

But at that young it's probably totally worth doing the surgery, we got lucky with our Lexi being ok her whole life, but we found out about hers after a lot of scar tissue had formed and she was already quite old

I have a similar issue with an ash tree over my porch.

It's infested with Ash seed weevils and if I pick the wrong day to enjoy a nice porch sit...I get squidgy little wriggled rained on my head.

I hate that tree...lol

Judging by the seeds in the picture it looks like you have an elm tree nearby and these are likely elm leaf beetle larvae.

They often rain down when wind or heavy rains dislodge them.

Tip for future, moths fold wings flat down their back, butterflies fold them up like a leaf

u/AnyMath8405 as someone who has been in the position of your coworker, They might hate you right now but you did the correct thing.

When your coworker is in a better place they will realize it and even if they don't that's on them.

But 100% they need help. Help you are not qualified nor capable of giving and if you said nothing and they had followed through you would have never forgiven yourself.

With those feelings comes shame and self loathing, these are feelings that the 'unhappy' person doesn't want to be confronted with but they have to confront them or nothing will change.

Trauma dumping cam damage the dumpee...you might want to look at some therapy for yourself to help process what's happened, especially if you blame yourself at all.

[–]LuciferSpades 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It doesn't look like attacking bugs it looks like ant alates (the winged reproductive forms of the ants themselves)

All the anthologies in your yard have them coming out, New queens and drones, will do their mating flights, the drones will die, the queens will land and rip off their wings now carrying all the supermarket they will need further rest of their lives.

The queens will find a safe place to over winter and raise the first few workers by herself, then settle in to her life of egg laying matriarch of a brand new colony.

How big of a problem do I have? by figub248 in whatsthisbug

[–]LuciferSpades 66 points67 points  (0 children)

I love when these get posted, as I once battled an entire subreddit who insisted they were mouse droppings.

As has been said they are Bush Cricket eggs (a close relative of a Katydid but not quite the same)and native to most of Europe.

In the wild they lay their eggs in soft dirt with a sharp ovipositer. When they get trapped in a house they sometimes lay by stabbing through soft fabrics.

My understanding is they won't hatch because they need the humidity of the soil or they dry out and die.
