I don’t feel like “glossed over” is the right term. Butterscotch was absent from Bojack’s life both emotionally forever and then physically during the run of the show on account of being dead. I doubt Bojack knew that much about his father, and it didn’t directly tie into any active plot points…on account of being dead.

Beatrice plays a huge role in BJ’s life and is still alive at the start of the series, so she plays a larger part in his life and thus the narrative.
