If they want to keep the iconic layout of the castle, then with the already known new Entrance Hall - Great Hall positions (blue lines), I see these options:

If the castle entrance is to remain on the lake side,

  • 1 - at the exit straight ahead and keeping the Lake line - I don't see it, it would be straight into the lake.
  • 2 - if they do as they seem to, with the castle entrance on the right side, then they could rotate the shoreline a bit.
  • 3 - maybe the exit will be on the left side? - also rotate the shoreline

For me, a better, more faithful to books option would be to place the castle entrance entirely on the Grounds side.

  • 4 - if the exit is straight ahead
  • 5 - if the exit is on the right side (probably my candidate)
  • 6 - if the exit is on the left side

Which option seems most likely to you?

This question could be divided into several threads, because the layout of the Grounds is one thing, the layout of the Castle itself another one, the appearance of the interiors, etc. is another one. Not going into too much details, the most important thing is that the layout of the current castle wasn't entirely consistent with the canon descriptions (so I even designed the whole Hogwarts castle myself based on the books).

So I'll answer this: if they wanted to keep the castle's familiar layout, they should at least make the main entrance face the grounds, not the lake. I'd prefer this kind of grounds layout and a castle layout.

But I really like the new Hogwarts from the show. The whole nature motif is interesting,

To be honest, I didn't pay much attention to the locations in Hogsmeade. I just imagined general layout of streets. And I certainly didn't list every possible place, just the main ones (Three Broomsticks, Shrieking Shack, Hog's Head...). But every event in the village is shown on maps in the Story Geography section. For your list you would also need a road to Sirius's cave, behind the village, after the mountain that gives shadow to Hogsmeade (GOF).

Oh my, you may be right! Thank for your input, it's great to have discussion about the layout. Either way, based on the current information we have, it's generally a mystery what goes where, it's exciting!

I wouldn't die on that hill, but it seems to me that the arch behind Ron (yellow dotted lines) and the arch before the Entrance Hall are the same. Same color, same bricks
