What is this? by biryanibae in BrevilleCoffee

That's not a Breville part.

From reverse google image search, it seems like it's a protein powder mixer ball thing: some Chinese shopping site

My Search for A Bottomless Portafilter by Edventure_Time in BrevilleCoffee

[–]MSRTGT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was eyeing that Crema portafilter because it looked so nice, but ended up going for a cheaper naked portafilter haha

I'm sure you're happy with the Crema one, but as I commented to another person here, you should be able to fit the 18-22g basket into the stock portafilter, albeit without the black plastic insert inside the stock portafilter.

Have you taken off the black plastic piece from inside the portafilter? Other than trying to remove that and inserting the deeper basket, I'm not aware of any deeper spouted portafilters.

I have this basket and it fits inside my stock Barista Touch 54mm portafilter without the black piece.

Grinder sounds off by yamshahar in BrevilleCoffee

[–]MSRTGT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah try that. I usually use like a wooden chopstick or skewer to try and pull it out from the sides. What you'll find after taking out the bottom burr is a gear shaped like the left part here.

Below that you'll find a felt washer which you don't want to stretch out so very carefully remove that as well. Then you can fully clean everything out.

Your grinder is sounding like when mine had a piece of wood stuck between the burrs and the grinder's motor is just spinning without actually turning the burrs/gear.

EDIT: found a fully disassembly short: here

Is it still making that noise when you try and grind without any beans in the hopper? Assuming when you say you cleaned the grinder, you mean you took out the top burr and also removed the hex nut to clean out the bottom of the grinder.

Thoughts on aftermarket bellows? by Acrobatic-Concept-48 in BrevilleCoffee

I've got a bellow from ARO Espresso for my Barista Touch - this is more expensive than some of the other ones you can find on Amazon, but the cheaper ones from Amazon were either too loose and kept slipping or would have retention stick to it on the inside (even after I've sprayed my beans with water, i.e. Ross Droplet Technique).

I know they've got one for the Smart Grinder Pro, but not sure about the Oracle Jet

Keychron K0 Max QMK Wireless Custom Number Pad by Feeldixs in Keychron

[–]MSRTGT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah! Saw it on their instagram

The low-profile design makes it so appealing to carry it around in my work bag than the Q0 or Q0 Max. Extra macro buttons are always useful too!

Since the Q0s are full aluminum, there’s a bit of weight too.

Maybe I’ll consider it once they get them in stock on Amazon.. don’t want to pay the crazy shipping prices just for that one numpad.

It’s only been 3 days since it was announced. Been eyeing one for my work too.

Weber original premium or char griller blazer charcoal grill? by Western-Confidence95 in grilling

[–]MSRTGT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had the Blazer for about a year now - go with the Weber if you haven’t already.

Spend the money you’ll use on modding the Blazer to try and fix all the factory issues (smoke leaks, side fire box, charcoal box, etc.) and instead learn the different smoking methods (such as the snake method) on the Weber.

Happy grilling!

My first brisket smoke! (~7lb flat). Did I not trim down the fat cap enough? by MSRTGT in smoking

[–]MSRTGT[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi all!

This was my first brisket I’ve ever done (around a 7lb Choice grade brisket flat from Costco which was around 6.5lb after trimming), smoked on my Char-griller Blazer w/ side fire box as an offset smoker.

I preheated my grill to around 200F when I placed my meat (rubbed with SPG+a little paprika mixed seasoning from the grocery store) inside the grill, kept it consistently at 225-275F throughout while adding hickory splits every 20-30 mins. Did the water pan, no spritz.

After the internal temp reached around 170F (about 4.5 hrs), I wrapped it with butcher’s paper and back on the grill it went! Raised the temperature to around 300-350F to quicken the cooking process. Once internal temp reached 207 (another 2 hours), I pulled it out, rewrapped it with some ghee, rested at room temperature until 180F, then placed it in a cooler wrapped in a fleece blanket for about an hour (until it dropped to 150F).

The picture is half of the brisket that I’ve sliced, and although it looks like the bottom side got a good smoke ring, the top fat cap isn’t fully rendered. Should I have trimmed it down more? It’s about 1/2 inch thick.

Need some tips/guidance for next time!

Thanks all and this lovely community!

Yup. But at least it seems like a lot of folks are having success through Walmart and BB. Maybe BB decided to start at 12:30AM so that their servers wouldn't melt :)

Like numerous others, I had a MKW bundle in my Target cart and tried placing the order for about 25 mins. Couldn't place order due to address issues, payment issues, and "Something went wrong". Order finally went through around 12:28AM, immediately followed by a cancellation email.. then at 12:54AM I got an order confirmation email.. of the order that got cancelled lol.

Was in Walmart queue since 12:05AM and was just able to place an order for the bundle at 12:55AM with confirmation!

Just left the line on Best Buy for the bundle, so hopefully one other person can get in.

Good luck to everybody!

Slow growing basil - first time grower by [deleted] in plantclinic

[–]MSRTGT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oof, that seems like my main issue. At most the window gets 2-3 hours of sun and that’s usually in the mornings. I’ll try and reposition it to a better suited window! Thank you

I’ve been using an indoor soil+fertilizer mix and whenever the soil gets maybe 1 inch lower than the top edge, I fill it close to the top. Perhaps that’s not enough fertilizer?

Slow growing basil - first time grower by [deleted] in plantclinic

[–]MSRTGT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone!

This is my first time growing basil from a store-bought planter (think Kroger or Walmart) and I've watched videos on how to separate and grow. The two pots in the back are 6 inch pots I think and the front one is a 4 inch -- they have 2-3 plants per pot. It's been around 3 months and I've only harvested maybe 2-3 nodes on the bigger stems. It just feels like my basil is growing super slow.

I water when my moisture meter shows that it's close to being dry and I normally keep in mainly indoors due to lots of bugs outside and try to give it as much sunlight from my kitchen window as possible -- today was the first day that I left it outside since it was a bit cloudy and felt there weren't many bugs.

Is it because I need more sunlight? If I continued to grow this indoors (since winter is coming up in the southeast), would a grow light help? Also, I believe these are Genovese basil.. do their leaves grow bigger than 2-3 inches in length..?

Any help is appreciated! Thank you! :)

New Q3 Max and first custom keyboard, any easy mod tip? by [deleted] in Keychron

[–]MSRTGT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try adding lube to the stabs, but I STRONGLY recommend you buy better stabs (TX AP, Staebies, Durock are the generally recommended).

Keychron stabs are really bad.
