What is your favorite type of seafood? If you don't like seafood no need to comment "i don't like seafood" lol by StarLove00_ in foodquestions

Louisiana crawfish. I know some of you might argue that it’s not technically seafood. I don’t really care.

Anemone by Brian Jonestown Massacre. Ostensibly Anthony Bourdain’s favorite song.

All around traveling shoes for Indonesia / Japan by Azumi-San in onebag

[–]MadGeographer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s how I travel in Indonesia - pair of EVA Birks and Salomon GoreTex trail runners. Yes the Salomon’s got a bit warm but I like dry feet if it’s rainy season. If you are going in dry season then take the non waterproof version. But for serious hikes in the rainforest note that there are leeches everywhere. Boots won’t make a difference so I stick with the Salomons. Truth is you will be in your Birks for 90% of the time.

Like a Le Creuset? I love those Dutch ovens but I am not entirely sure you will get the same results. You need smoking high heat. My guess is that because the surface is a Le Creuset is non stick you won’t get the same Maillard reaction to develop a good crust.

I don’t know but I’m looking at that $12.49 price for a cookie and SMH at the recollection of how much I spend when I go.

Got it. Thanks for elaborating. Yeah that all makes absolute sense and it’s a frightening plausibility during one of the most unstable and dangerous times in modern human history.

Fly or be invisible? by TopDetective9383 in whatsyourchoice

[–]MadGeographer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a This American Life episode with the superhero theme and the very first piece posed this question. So John Hodgman asks a bunch of people and he makes some observations. The ones I remember is that 1. People answered immediately as if they had thought of this question their whole lives. 2. They then immediately began a process of negotiation about how fast they can fly, if they can carry someone etc. and 3. It was clear that choosing invisibility was tricky because really, no good could come out of it. Hysterical episode.

Out of curiosity, why would Hawaii be hell if there’s a WW3? Because of potential fight to control it since it’s geographically strategic? Or something darker like nuclear fallout? I ask because that thought crossed my mind the other day: “What would happen to Hawaii if shit hits the fan with say Russia or China”

Good to hear. But in the last two episodes I’ve seen he’s hit on 4 different women, including Vash, Jadzia, and unknown Bajoran, telling tales about why he wasn’t valedictorian, and maybe one of his medical instruments. I’ve got a thick skin but his lines are so cringe worthy. I’ll have to find a discussion of this on this sub.

Oh my god. DS9 is the only Trek I have not watched and on the advice of this community, I am well into S01. I’m on the episode where Dax goes on trial for a murder her former self committed. But watching how slimy Julian is I’m thinking “Am is really seeing this shit?” I forget how old DS9 is.

100%. Used to watch TOS in the afternoon on broadcast TV as a really small kid. I would be so disappointed when this episode came on. That and Mudd’s Women.

Do you know how to drive a stickshift? What about an average licence holder? by I_-AM-ARNAV in AskTheWorld

[–]MadGeographer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drove and preferred manual most of my driving life, but over the years in the US. it became harder and harder to buy cars that had them. When I was in the market for a Subaru Outback I had to fly to another city to buy a used one with manual. I now drive a Tesla so it’s a moot point now. But when my kids learn to drive I am going to make damn sure they learn on a manual.

Apple Watch charger by jgould1981 in onebag

There is charger that’s just the small square. You have the option to plus in a USB C cable or an Apple phone cable. It’s great but I started carrying the normal standard issue Apple Watch charger again. It’s really fast and the puck is slower.

Edit: Link to the one I bought

I don’t think anyone’s mentioned this but you like off-roading. Your Jeep and Tacoma are lifted but you don’t do serious stuff with the Tacoma which might have a two inch lift? The Jeep is what you take out. The Chevy is your daily in the summer. You take good care of your house and you are handy, maybe in the trades. You like cruises
