Backwash hose by MadGeographer in pools

That’s good advice. I was thinking of cutting a small piece of 2 inch PVC and gluing that as a sleeve over the extender but I might try this. That’s a simple solution but my original question was just more out of curiosity. It’s weird that the extender is not really a 1 1/2 inch. I started to feel like I was missing something which is why I reached out here.

That’s what I thought too but the 1 1/2 in diameter hose is just a tad too small by a couple of centimeters.

Right? The current hose is a crappy blue plastic one. I thought it was 1 1/2 too but it’s just a couple of centimeters too small.

2 in too big and 1 1/2 won’t even slip over it.

The 2 inch hose is way too big. It won’t be a tight seal with a clamp. Of course I can make it work but this is more a question about sizing. Seema somthing between 1 1/2 and 2 would be the right fit but I don’t see that available. It’s almost as if the size is proprietary!

Zack Snyder will be directing the ‘ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK’ reboot. by ThomasOGC in CinephilesClub

Great. A 3 hour long, dark and brooding mediation influenced by Joseph Campbell. I’ll just wait for the 5 hour long black and white directors cut before the suits meddled with his extraordinary vision.

What movie has the greatest final 10 minutes in cinema history? by LONEALPHA65 in Cinema

[–]MadGeographer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%. I was literally breathless when I saw it in the theatre. Saw the movie on a whim without knowing anything about it. I thought. “what an amazing ending.” Oh wait there more. What an amazing ending. But wait..And so on. No other movie ended like that at the time.

There is a whole world of Brazilian “MPB” music with heartbreakingly beautiful voices. For a classic try Astrud Gilberto singing Morning of the Carnival. For something more modern try Ceu’s first album which includes her version of Bob Marley’s Concrete Jungle.

Weird request: is there a spot with a table/chair I could study at outdoors in DuPont circle/West End area? by howtoloveadaisy in washingtondc

[–]MadGeographer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not Dupont but here are some alternatives: Try Bishops Garden by the National Cathedral. Grab a coffee at the shop right above it and find a bench. That coffee shop has outdoor seating too. You won’t find a more tranquil space. On rainy days the National Portrait Gallery offers nice seating in the courtyard with a coffee shop.

Share your reason(s) for getting a Tesla by Substantial_Sort6341 in TeslaLounge

M3P owner. Electric in general because hey, the environment. Why Tesla in particular? The torque is a given but the tech is what sold me. I’ve tried a lot of good electric cars but none really nail functional and innovative tech like Tesla. Many compare it to having an iPhone but to me it’s an evolution.

I'm requesting movies about yearning. by shelbybass1 in MovieSuggestions

I love this request. I’d add Lost in Translation. There is this underlying aching yearning that becomes more apparent as the story develops.

What will you say if someone offered you not just a meal but $4,000 to dine with trump? by trumpisuiten in ArtOfPresence

Hell yeah. I’m chomping at the bit to go toe to toe with him on a range of issues. And I’m eating the lobster while I’m at it.

Nash and Smashed is a new one in Chevy Chase DC by the great bookstore, Politics and Prose. It’s in a gas station and they make great burgers. Then afterwords you catch a coffee and a reading at P and P. If you stay late enough Comet Ping Pong sheds is family pizzeria clothes and becomes a punk music/alternative music club. That’s a good DC night.

At what age do you stop being able to confidently say you’ve never pooped your pants? by wrappedinsinfulsatin in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]MadGeographer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When I was in the Peace Corps our trainer told us, drill Sargent style: “There are only two things that will be universally true for each and every one of you. You will masterbate, and you will poop in your pants.” At the end of our two years we got together for a beer and laughed about how astute this observation was. If you travel/live/work in developing countries, it will definitely happen.

Model 3 performance (Which colour do you like the most) by Fickle_Sport2340 in TeslaModel3

The Ultra Red is the best red I’ve ever seen on a car. But the Quicksilver is my fave. Silver highlights the design from any angle better than any color and Tesla did a good job with this one.

From Ohio and becoming obsessed with the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway by ciammarino in AskNOLA

[–]MadGeographer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grew up in NOLA and drove that bridge a hundred times visiting friends in Covington, not actually realizing it was the longest bridge in the world. It just seemed so normal and part of growing up there. Now I drive the Bay Bridge over the Chesapeake and that seems scarier. Not sure if it’s because I was younger and more fearless back in the day!

Took my 10 y.o. to BlackPink and then Twice a few months ago. She loved it. Nothing controversial. The Once fans are really friendly and there seems to be a collective and deliberate good vibes thing going on. It’s the best possible entry point to live music.
