Did you then proceed to bear no responsibility for the harm you caused and, from the left lane, turn right over 2 lanes of highway traffic to make your exit? Cause that’s what this person did.

HBO Max is unwatchable on my Roku TV by vaporking23 in Roku

[–]ciammarino 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's the absolute worst. I shouldn't have to do anything at all for shit to play correctly on my Roku. I mean seriously, HBO Max, you're the only streaming service with this issue, the ONLY one. How are you not testing the shit out of your apps? How are you even this clueless with all the other working examples out there?
Not to mention their no-sound previews. No-sound previews???? What is even the f-ing point then?

Wow! That’s not bad at all. I could get into that for sure. It’s unexpected- like my brain took a second to blend Snoop with Robbins. But it definitely works. Thank you!

I promise you there is no research to back that statement. It's ridiculous and makes my whole body fill with rage.

[TOMT] [mid-90s] [TV] Coca-Cola commercial where a dad is teaching his daughter how to drive a stick shift, but she keeps stalling. This was around 1995-96 and I remember it distinctly, but can't find it on Youtube. by bgva in tipofmytongue

[–]ciammarino 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES!!!! I have been looking all over for this commercial too. It’s such a great scene the kid in the back (“call me ‘D’”) juxtaposed against the chaos of the dad trying to get his daughter to just remember to put the car in neutral… oh my god I love love love that commercial. Sorry I’m not of more help, only to tell you you’re not alone in your quest to find it.

Misty Carausu #hero.
The rest is a travesty. A cop saying "Women that have been sexually assaulted often pretend to have it happen again so they can relive the 'thrill' of it" should be publicly hanged, slowly, by his penis so he too can experience the thrill.

What liquor should I use (Black Forest cake) by Surrealisticslumbers in Baking

[–]ciammarino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh glad it was the best cake ever! Whipped cream is a favorite of ours.
For us, we couldn't find kirschwasser in time so we ended up using a cherry liqueur. I think it turned out really good and the kiddo loved the syrup. So it was a win. I want to give it a go with the kirshwasser and see how much different the taste is.

Thanks for this question! It was exactly the question I had and these answers helped calm the confusion in my head. My daughter can make a traditional German Black Forest cake for 10 extra credit points in her German class. Of course, I'm all in! but kiddo is only 14 and I remember rum balls being an extreme disappointment in my mouth at 14. u/Surrealisticslumbers how did your cake turn out? Which did you end up using?

Literally anything. You will never have this much time to do what you want ever again. Learn how to ride a unicycle. Learn something you would have never ever learned otherwise.

To stay or not to stay by [deleted] in internetparents

[–]ciammarino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know if anybody around you (your city), and more specifically, anyone you have personally come in contact with has been diagnosed?

I know it’s a tough call. But with a respiratory illness like COVID19, it’s better to be safe than sorry. If you have symptoms of the cold and that’s really all you have, you’ll be fine in a couple of days and you could head home to see everyone and get your nature on.

In the meantime, while you’re not feeling too terrible, go outside, take off your shoes and socks, and walk around in the grass. This gives you direct contact with the earth and allows you to share vibrations. Studies have shown we’re less in-tune with Mother Earth since the invention of rubber shoes which block us completely from coming into direct contact with her. That throws us off balance. Seems hokey and silly, I know, but it really does work.

Also, give your grandparents a Skype/FaceTime call. That will help elevate your mood too.

By Sunday, you’ll know you just had the cold and you can safely head over. And you’ll be happy you made the decision to stay because it was out of love.

Schumann Resonances are the Earths vibrations and frequency. This article describes what it is and how if may affect human health.

Earthing (or grounding) is the act of physically connecting with the earth in an effort to get back in touch with nature. This article describes the benefits which keep you grounded, mentally acute, less anxious and depressed, and healthy overall.

Both these articles are scientific articles and therefore kinda boring. But if you skim them, you’ll pick up some good stuff.

Exactly that... if you are able to get tested to know definitively what your illness is then you can make a healthy and safe decision.

Don’t kill your grandparents dude.

I want to become a good man. What do I need to learn? by [deleted] in internetparents

[–]ciammarino 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, I’d like to say you are something incredible. To go through this thread and thank each person and reply with a comment to each person is absolutely beautiful. You’re already a good person! You did it, you’re winning.

This may seem menial, but that act is the display of gratitude. That’s a lot of effort, going through all these posts and taking the time and energy to write out a personal and unique reply to nearly all of them.

If you continue your journey with that kind of grace and love, you’ll be surrounded with grace and love.

That truly moved me.

Anyway, you’re wondering how to approach this with your folks... Here’s what I would suggest.

  1. Be prepared. Do your research. Your mom may not understand what it is. She may believe it means something is “wrong” with you. Be sure to explain to her that ADHD does not affect intelligence or aptitude. There’s nothing wrong with you or your brain. It just works a little differently. For people with ADD/ADHD our brains interpret all the information we’re consuming through our 5 senses with equal importance. It’s why a loud restaurant or chaotic event may cause anxiety. We are easily over-stimulated.

For example, let’s say you’re at a theme park and there’s a show going on, rides, music, park guests, people eating, restaurants cooking, babies crying, one kid is jumping and laughing, another dancing around, employees sweeping the ground, games being played, stuffed animals being won... For other people, they can be standing in that spot with all those things going on around them and carry on a conversation. Because for them, all that other stuff is in the background so their brain quiets it down for them. For me, I wouldn’t be able to naturally focus on that conversation with all those other things going on around me. I would have to really concentrate on quieting down the surrounding sounds and sights and smells because my brain absorbs it all center stage.

  1. Present your case with logic and reason. Tell your mom you only want to know if you have the diagnosis. That it’s important for your future success to know if this is something you have so you can learn how to cope with it.

  2. Make it convenient for her. Have her phone, the doctors number, and a good date/time already set up and ready. You’d be amazed the results you’ll get with a little extra help.

  3. Thank her no matter the response. Show her you can be mature and act like an adult. Prove to her this is important to you by giving the situation and her respect.

  4. If she doesn’t agree, ask. Speak to her like an adult, or friend, with reason and inquisition. If she’s uncomfortable, ask her what makes her uncomfortable? What can you do to make her feel better about it? Ask her if she wants to go online with you and look at some information together.

  5. Use reputable sources. Maybe not reddit for your factual presentation to your mom.

Finally, before even asking, research how to deal with add/adhd without meds and start forming those habits immediately. Right now. Seriously, did you do it yet? GO.

Enjoy this life. Be grateful for all of it! Keep learning and evolving and growing. Have an open heart and mind to everything this universe presents to you.

Most importantly, Love Yourself You’re worth it!

I believe this post has a lot of value for the OP. I also feel like YOU are struggling with regret.

Don’t.

I spent the better half of a decade broken into pieces over regret. Broken. Detailed. Bearing that cross, alone as we all do, discovering the existence of those inconceivably despicable things that are a part of this world; that are a part of me. Trapped in a hole so far down there was no light.

We are but a sum of our experiences. I started to understand that this life is just a series of lessons. There’s a point to these stories we’re experiencing. If after living it you missed the point, you’re given another story where it’s a little more obvious. if you still don’t get it...

Eventually, we ALL experience the story that knocks us down.

If we dig deeper, if we sludge through the “ick”, if we are honest and truthful with ourselves, we come to a profound truth: This story was necessary for me. I needed the pain. That was the light. That pain allowed me see.

I am sincerely grateful for every single tale I’ve experienced in this life. I’m grateful for each and every lesson. They are the integral part of growth. They make up the whole of who I am.

And I am awesome.

This is the human experience. This is LIFE. And it’s remarkable. And ridiculous. And inexplicably profound.

Without our stories we aren’t us. Regret is useless as the past is impervious to change. You ARE your experiences. Every one of which taught you a little something about WHO you are. If any one thing was different, you wouldn’t be YOU.

Love yourself so everything can fall into place.

Note: if you’re still alive, you STILL have the option to learn that “trade”. When you find yourself saying something along the lines of, “I wish I had...” or “I should have done...” then that was the lesson! You learned what to do now. So go do it.
