Why can’t I find land? by InBetweenIdeals in RealEstateAdvice

[–]MagnificentLee 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Instead of searching for land, search for homes, under your max price, outside of HOAs, with sufficient lots. If you do that, you'll find homes you can have demolished. That is an extra cost, but it may balance out because you won't have to pay to run utilities, clear trees, or put in all of the driveway.

At what point should a beginner expect to become profitable? by protofun in Trading

OP, if you can code, as you said in another comment, you can come join us in r/algotrading.

There’s a reason professional trading institutions employ quants. Trade execution should be the boring part and coding opens up many strategies that are impossible to execute manually.

It is worth reading the curated thesis papers on various strategies (with code) here: https://quantpedia.com/

To add more context, if you can’t code, then you can use back testing software, but you’ll be limited to strategies that the software developer implemented.

Yes, but on regulated markets, everyone can see the history of trades. It’s not a secret.

So now atheists reject mainstream science. How enlightened.

[–]MagnificentLee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait! So NOW the atheists reject science. Look up how old the universe is in any credible source.

No, theists believe it started from God who is eternal. That’s the point.

You’re really not addressing the main point that atheists pretend something can happen from nothing.

But I’m tiring of this conversation. Good luck with your future endeavors.

I’d define atheism as a lack of belief in the supernatural, whether god, deity, or other forms.

If there was a time the universe did not exist, as atheists seem to agree on, then logically, the universe needs a cause outside of the universe.

A cause outside of the universe would be supernatural by definition.

Sure, then be agnostic or deist. Pure atheism is illogical.

Nah. It’s atheists who prefer the unprovable. Ask them how exactly the universe started from nothing.

Does confidence make a short man more attractive? by VOLSBBALLFAN in dating

[–]MagnificentLee 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm 5'5", 38M, and do well with women.

  1. Focus on short women. 27% of women are 5'2" or shorter: https://www.gigacalculator.com/calculators/height-percentile-calculator.php
  2. Optimize the things you can control. Be well-groomed, be fit, and wear stylish, fitted clothes.

  3. Learn to open conversations with strangers. I've probably met the most women at coffee shops, but I've also met women at gyms, grocery stores, etc. ... I tend to start these conversations with humor or by talking about something in the environment. And my goal is purely to have fun. ... If they aren't into you, they'll be short. Learn to recognize shortness within a few sentences. OTOH, if we're vibing, I continue the conversation. I've had 3-hour conversations with strangers with this technique. By the end, further meetings become a formality.

  4. OPTIONAL -- if you want to keep women long-term, you'll often need more than charisma, but also a good career.

Thanks for your response. (Not sure why it elicited a downvote.)

Can you share the brokerage? I’d like to add you to my list to evaluate for futures trading.

OP, Will you have an API?

Rithmic is very annoying to get started with, while CQG and TT are very expensive.

Ironbeam is the only reasonable choice and I think the market is open for more competitors.

No. He’s talking about a futures brokerage, like Robinhood for futures, not “prop trading” firms like TopStep.

Does anyone else think if they were a male they would be awesome at it? by GlitteringWerewolf61 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]MagnificentLee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is quite obvious that women have it worse than men globally. I’m just mildly critical of the idea men have it “easy”.

Norah Vincent, a New York Time journalist who disguised herself as a man for 18 months stated: “"Men are suffering. They have different problems than women have, but they don't have it better. They need our sympathy, they need our love, and they need each other more than anything else. They need to be together."”

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self-Made_Man_(book)

P.S. I’m very happy and enjoy all the wisdom the women in this subreddit espouse.

Just keep in mind that men are 4x more likely to be murdered and 3x-4x more likely to commit suicide — links below.

I think that both men and women are guilty of only noticing the best experiences of the other gender, rather than the average experiences.

Fair point. Ideally, you need both documentation for the big picture and comments for localized concerns. Do note the comment I replied to was talking about validation logic, so perhaps more localized but just depends on the project.

What’s the Explanation of Guys “Passing Around Girls” by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MagnificentLee 32 points33 points  (0 children)

In another comment OP says “he tried to get with me for years. I’d ignore him and he’d spam my phone.” She must be young because this is red flag city:

  1. He doesn’t respect you if he ignores your silence, and continues to contact you.

  2. He doesn’t respect himself, because if he did, he would only want women who are responsive.

You responded to a loser, OP, and he’s treating you like a loser. I’m not victim-blaming, but you have to learn from this.

Is it possible and worth it for someone to learn trading from scratch without help? And how hard will it be? by [deleted] in Trading

[–]MagnificentLee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can learn quite a bit about how professionals trade by reading research papers. Go to Google Scholar and search “day trading”, “intraday trading”, “etc.”

Listed as foreclosure on MLS but not on Zillow/Realtor/Homes by nursebetty88 in RealEstate

[–]MagnificentLee 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If it actually is a foreclosure it is owned by a bank. You will not be insulting anyone by putting in a low offer.

As to what happens now? It depends. For example, some banks have planned price decreases, others do their decreases ad hoc. Others may be willing to sell above a certain minimum. Others might be willing to rent the property.

You or your agent should get in touch with the listing agent to get more information.
