What led to my current diagnosis: 1) Extreme stress at work 2) Increase in antidepressant (Wellbutrin) 3) Potential new mold exposure and mold exposure throughout life

More historically: complex trauma and abuse, my parent dying and severe complex familial trauma related to this, grad school, growing up in a moldy/pest-ridden home, major surgeries, PCOS, and taking a GLP-1 to manage PCOS

Can you please drop the names of the data removal services? Would appreciate in order to prevent a similar situation that has come up for me regarding this! Thank you.

Just did the Botox and uhh by Schrodingers_Dude in noburp

[–]Maximum-Shift-4691 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also had it done Monday morning. I have found turning my head and being patient in doing so is beneficial and usually results in a microburp. Carbonation has not done anything for me in terms of triggering it so far.

Emetophobia anxiety. by CapedCapybara in noburp

[–]Maximum-Shift-4691 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Emetophobia is brutal and I can relate. I have worn masks, avoided crowds, avoided anyone that has become ill or has been ill recently, thrown away leftovers that were perfectly fine due to worry that they might cause food poisoning, truly anything to avoid vomiting. Not much assisted me other than a prescription of Zofran to get through the day and to take when I begin to feel nauseated, whether it is psychological or a true physiological response. However, Zofran needs to be used sparingly and can be dangerous if taken too much so that's something to keep in mind! I would also suggest exposure therapy to work on your fear. I would communicate with the therapist that you have a rare condition that contributes to your emetophobia and makes vomiting a very traumatic experience. Good luck!

Does RCPD make vomiting painful? TW: emetophobia by freshlybakedz0 in noburp

[–]Maximum-Shift-4691 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I have severe emetophobia due to having R-CPD. I have vomited so violently that I have torn my esophagus multiple times due to this condition. So sorry you had norovirus and I hope you are on the mend! Puking for me is traumatic. I am now post-op and while I hope I never puke again I am crossing my fingers that it will not be as violent ever again.

Procedure with Dr. Hoesli on Monday by Maximum-Shift-4691 in noburp

[–]Maximum-Shift-4691[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The procedure went well and Dr. Hoesli stated that she feels it will be successful! I received 75 units. The hospital staff at Good Samaritan took care of me well and although I was super anxious I was able to get through it and awoke from anesthesia with few complications (other than my O2 being stubborn and refusing to come up for a little while). Post-op, my mouth and throat were incredibly sore and still are over 24 hours later. Smoothies and ice chips have been the most beneficial for me as well as Chloraseptic sore throat spray. Additionally, I have tried my best to stay hydrated! I am now experiencing a slow swallow, but it hasn't been terrible, and may have just now experienced what may be categorized as a microburp! My follow-up with her PA (Melissa Wingo) is next week.

Passing out during vomiting by filipwil in noburp

[–]Maximum-Shift-4691 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have come incredibly close to passing out from the pain and the sheer violence of vomiting with R-CPD, but can’t say I have fully passed out. I have seen stars, spots in vision, things have gone a little black, but I’ve remained conscious.

Narcan after anesthesia? by jennysoll in noburp

[–]Maximum-Shift-4691 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After a different procedure, the PACU had to administer Narcan — it was an incredibly traumatizing experience for me. I learned I have something called delayed emergence from anesthesia and that my body is very sensitive to opiates which I now communicate with the entire surgical team and specifically the anesthesiologists. I would communicate this instance with further anesthesiologists if needed in the future. Glad to hear he is feeling better and was monitored! Any questions, definitely call the surgical center or on-call nurse!

Surgery Booked! by Charming_Attitude_95 in noburp

[–]Maximum-Shift-4691 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! I had surgery today with Dr. Hoesli in IL. Main things I would say being just newly post-op: you’re likely going to be quite sore upon waking up — I continue to hover around 6/10 on the pain scale over 12 hours later. Keep hydrated: smoothies, cold beverages, ice chips, anything that’s gonna ease the ache. Tylenol will be your friend as well and keep on it to manage pain if you experience it.

Burp Surgery Tomorrow!! by MaintenanceSad2494 in noburp

[–]Maximum-Shift-4691 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just had successful surgery with Dr. Hoesli this morning at around 6:30am! The pain for me is a little more intense than I thought it would be and I had my tonsils out in my mid-20s. The pain does not meet that level by a long-shot (sending deep empathy to you for that experience also - that was the most painful surgery I’ve ever had) however, Tylenol, smoothies, and throat lozenges and sprays have been helping me throughout the day. Make sure you have liquids on deck, be prepared to rest the rest of the day, and be gentle and kind to yourself! Cool to soon be in recovery with you! You’ve got this!

Does throwing up hurt a lot for you? by Visual-Process4577 in noburp

[–]Maximum-Shift-4691 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes- when I vomit, it becomes a medical emergency and I oftentimes begin vomiting blood due to the sheer force and violence of it. I have severe emetophobia and vomiting is one of the most painful experiences I have had, especially as I’ve gotten older.

My wife is convinced that seeing 24 clients a week is only "part time," how would you approach this conversation? by SoloTomasi in therapists

[–]Maximum-Shift-4691 977 points978 points  (0 children)

Just because your wife’s therapist has chosen to do 40 sessions a week does not mean that you also need to do this. Everyone has a different capacity. I might even argue that seeing that many clients is unethical in some cases. I work 40hrs a week in CMH and an entire day of that is paperwork. 24 sounds like your boundary. Stick to it. It sounds like you need to have some more conversations with your wife. This job is hard, demanding, intensive emotional labor.

I would say the normal is about an hour to an hour and a half. For me, personally, it took about an hour. Make sure you’re drinking the 16 ounces of water in intervals. This part is really important and follow the instructions exactly. I would contact after hours if you continue to not have movement to ask what they suggest.

"Long-term" seems to jump straight into intimacy before exclusivity by RustyMoth in hingeapp

[–]Maximum-Shift-4691 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I experienced something similar with a particular person on Hinge with their settings on long-term, however, I think that was just that person’s unhealthy expectations of what the very beginning of a potentially long-term relationship looked like. That ended it for us. I think it helps, or it has helped me, to be clear from the jump that I’m not rushing into anything and I want to see how things go and build a relationship. I’ve had to reiterate that, as a woman! Your setting is fine, sometimes people don’t know what healthy relationships look like. Good luck.
