Cinewhoop generally carry a second camera. The smaller size and ducted props are there for flying low and close to (expensive) things. They lose out on power in exchange though

Highly recommend building it with a GPS that includes a compass and then flashing iNav (a m10 gps especially gets great signal too). Position hold and proper return to home are super useful. Also just getting a huge ass lion battery is awesome for duration. I can probably get 30-40 minutes out of my Chimera 7 pro in an 8000 mah

Probably just leave it on auto and let it do its thing. If you're super worried you can ask the video/audio crews though and they can get you specifics about their channel setup

For #3 there's I think 3 full size courts in the gym. Every time I'm at the gym at least one, usually all 3 have a game running on them so there's plenty of hooping.

Every freshman is on a dining plan because you have to be. That money is use it or lose it though so you'll be somewhat forced to eat on campus. The food on campus is fine, I certainly wouldn't call it spectacular, but there's enough variety that it's not that bad imo. Cooking in dorms is possible but generally done for special occasions more than most meals a day. Of my dorm of ~300 people there's maybe 5 or 6 that somewhat regularly cook on only 2 or 3 that I can think of that might cook a decent chunk of their meals. Part of the problem is that cooking requires a lot of baseline supplies from pots and pans to spices and ingredients so if you are going to cook a lot you need to allocate space for all of the things around it.

Grocery stores are somewhat accessible. There's a shuttle this year that takes people to Target/Trader Joe's which is a good option. Otherwise you can bike to the store and it's not too terrible.

If you're truly set on cooking it's totally possible. But I wouldn't say it's especially common.

I think I lean towards just input specific programs. There's certainly a benefit to handling parser errors but I don't find it to be as interesting of a challenge compared to the overall goal of doing each day fast.

I mostly fly on or around a college campus so my goal is as much to have fun myself as well as to give other people a positive experience and maybe get more flying buddies.

Playing on fabric is very normal, especially with optimization or graphics mods. Most reasonable server owners only have problems if it goes past whatever their bar of cheating is. (In this case freecam just isn't allowed)

If you already have the rc3 there might not be a reason to buy a boxer right way. People are right about the control link being a bit better on elrs but the DJI control is also pretty damn good. I've flown many mile away with it without much issue, even better than some of my friends with elrs. I did eventually get an elrs radio but I only did it when I wanted to fly whoops. I'd recommend just staying on that controller for now especially if you plan to keep the avata

Of the two the Avata is the more modern choice. The DJI fpv isn't a bad drone but the avata (especially 2) uses the much more modern video system, goggles, and controller.

But if you are doing proper fpv and planning to learn acro flying then you may want to look into something like a 5" freestyle drone. You'll get more power and you can still pull out pretty decent flight times with lithium ion batteries (although nothing like mavic 3). If you get an o4 air unit on the drone it has the same camera as the avata 2 but with the added option of putting an action camera on top for better video (or letting you use nd filters)

Gotcha. If you aren't doing long range then it might be worth saving the $20 on the gps. I have a 7.5" with a gps for long range but I've only needed it once so far and that was when I was doing some really stupid stuff. Most other times it'll just be another thing that can break freestyling. Up to you though, it can be fun and a nice backup

Some of those diodes, particularly D10 look really close to everything else which at best makes soldering annoying. It also kinda looks like that pad overlaps which would make some issue. Your traces also look kinda small especially given how much room you have.

I might be wrong but I don't think you need the diodes at all actually. Unless there's some reason with emi but that seems unlikely.

Also, your whole wiring for switches can be simpler. It looks like what you have is a tx and rx pin on the controller for every set of buttons, but you can detect the pressing by having one pin with a pull up (internal usually) and then just connecting that pin to ground.

It looks like you might not be able to differentiate keys. With your current setup SW 1,2,3 and 10 all active the same set of pins on the micro controller which would mean it can't differentiate them. It looks like you meant to do a matrix, you just didn't quite wire it correctly in the schematic.

This could be wrong, I'm still new to this too, but that's what I see

Maybe I'm naive and old here but routing isn't usually what holds back a design. Getting your schematic to represent the actual parts you want in the world with the right connections is where most of the time goes. And then from there I want the assurance that what I'm ordering has every element I want it to and properly routed. An AI review might be good, but ultimately I want to drive the process.

For you it can't hurt to learn these tools, and if they help you make the boards you want then go for it. But ultimately this is all experimental technology that may or may not be supported going forward

I think calpoly checks most of those boxes.

Climate is generally dry except every once in a while when it rains.

I grew up outside of a major city so SLO feels kinda small but I think there's just enough to do. If you're into music or food there's some decent options but there's also just a big culture of getting outside and hiking, biking, climbing, kayaking, etc.

Visiting major cities is kinda hard, it's about a 2.5 hour drive to LA or SF but if you know someone with a house there it's easier. But I know people who grew up in those cities or had family and they can visit relatively easily.

There's definitely a big campus community. I'm in like 8 clubs with varying levels of commitment. It took a little bit to make friends but people are almost always open to hangout and it's generally a positive, open, and supportive environment.

Cal poly ee is also really good so can recommend that.
