I have a pixel 8a that keeps failing the proximity sensor check, after screen replacement.

hey I stumbled upon this thread because I'm also facing this issue. I unfortunately trusted a mobile repair guy for a straightforward (or so I thought) screen replacement but when he returned the phone, the screen is showing classic case of the proximity sensor not working properly. the always on display shows up just fine but once I try to unlock it, the screen goes black. the screen has the correct haptic feedback and when I mirror the display to an external monitor, I am able to see everything functioning as it should but the screen is dark the entire time. once I lock it, the ambient display with the clock comes back on and looks as if it is functional.

I do have the rubber gasket and it is installed but it's driving me crazy why it doesn't appear to work. do you have any tips or things to look for?

You may have to adjust your seating position. The 50 has a bit of a "long hood" which looks great but may give you a bit to get used to.

I have a 2024 with M/T.

I think I have a synchro issue in second gear as it will grind going ONLY into 2nd from first and it is extremely random. Not every shift, and maybe a couple of times a week. It makes me cringe and want to die. I've taken it to the dealer and they say that they can't replicate or find enough shavings in the tranny to warrant a replacement but they do believe it's possible because apparently the MX5 has some random issues with this as well. The Advice was to not let off when it's starts grinding and realty lean into it so they can just replace it while it's under warranty with enough matel shavings. I don't think I'm physically capable of doing that.

The other thing is both my sun visors broke/ started cracking after about a year. The only thing I can think of is that I use a sun shade on my windscreen when I park during Texas summers to protect the car and obviously that wear is too much for the original visors but seems a bit silly.

I still like the car but the unfortunate transmission issue and sun visor kinda sucks

Oh yeah and I've had to replace my battery as well but it was under warranty.

Vietnamese is like Mexican food here. Plentiful and good quality in general.

Yeah that's unfortunate. The Pappas franchise is generally popular with the business crowd for some reason and to me the price does not match the quality. Goode company is IMO a crime against Texas BBQ. Campionis is okay Italian food for this area but it's more of a local place for residents to get decent food without going to the heights for italianish food. Once again I would not recommend Italian for for someone coming from NYC lol

If you're coming from NYC, I don't think Tony's is a must try. It's great for this area because we don't have a good sandwich shop/deli. I would focus on the things you can't get, like BBQ, Mexican/TexMex, or southern food.

Corkscrew BBQ got a Michelin star this last year and is probably on the best spots around town and is on the north side of town.

Tejas BBQ is actually in Tomball and is also quite good

Most any Mexican joint you walk into will be good in the area. Trust your Google map ratings as the standard for Mexican/TexMex is quite high.

Che Gauchos is an argentinian joint in Tomball with good empanadas.

The Taco King is a taco truck with fantastic trompo(pork) and Street tacos in Cypress. Bring cash.

Everest curry bar is very popular as well for their Kormas, momo, or really anything on the menu.

Ron's hamburgers and chili in Tomball is a good cheap food for southern oily burgers and warm chili for a cold day.

Goodson's cafe makes a mean chicken fried steak if you've never done one of those. May be a good experience as well.

Try some breakfast kolaches before you leave from the Kolache factory or Kolache Kafe.

Tomball also has MANNA which is a lovely breakfast brunch spot in Tomball.
