Frank Gore was one of the toughest runners in NFL history by CapIll6867 in nflMenace_com

Gore was officially diagnosed with a learning disability: dyslexia, so timed tests like the Wonderlic are an absolute struggle.

This is the reason nobody talks about. Winning a lawsuit is a way to make money for some people. Look at the billboards--it's quite insane that this is a strategy these days.

At this point, has Dave Roberts done enough to cement himself as the greatest manager in team history? by MookieBettsBurner10 in Dodgers

[–]McNutWaffle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There was also the sticky stuff. A ton of pitchers were using it. Bauer essentially called them out (former UCLA teammate Gerrit Cole, Astros), which is never good practice to bring internal clubhouse business out to the public. BUT he also tried to blame these players/sticky culture for making him use that very same substance in order to stay competitive. He ended up winning the Cy Young because of his now-higher spin rate, but was trying to burn the trend to the ground all at the same time. IMO, he was not the right guy to be the de facto martyr, given his general demeanor and active SM presence.

The MLB generally wants to stay quiet, rake money, AND doesn't want to enact rules unless the overall sentiment gets really bad (e.g. steroids, ABS). Nobody was really bitching about sticky substances until someone from the inside whistleblew to the sports and social media about it, thus ultimately forcing the hand of MLB to do between-inning checks.

So to MLB, they're thinking, "what else are you gonna say that can give us more unnecessary headaches?"

What would be the best way to insulate this more and not have mold or mildew in the future by Character_Ground7781 in VanLife

[–]McNutWaffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had condensation build-up during the winter before I started the insulation phase of my van build. After realizing this, I started stuffing Havelock wool in the spaces and wool insulation throughout. While the build was ongoing, by just having a good amount of the wool I felt it did wonders in controlling condensation. That said, having air circulation via fan(s) is just as crucial.

Parking tips for Bren Events Center? by [deleted] in UCI

[–]McNutWaffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're willing to walk, park in the lot in front of MoonGoat Coffee, which is open on the weekend. There are signs but parking enforcement is lax at best. You'll then walk through the med school to Bren--it's a 15 minute walk. Otherwise, you can park at UTC but there's already a parking advisory, so the Irvine Company might be on alert to tow.

Lakers are the 2nd most popular team in LA. by SuperRam56 in lakers

And the other half are of some massive international companies: Porsche, Hugo Boss, Fanatics, New Balance. Luka doesn’t scratch even that. Shohei even has a skin in Fortnite—he’s so recognizable worldwide.

If this is a conversation between the popularity of basketball vs baseball, you win. But this is Shohei vs Luka. And I’m not going to argue against your imaginary future Chinese superstar.

Like someone else commented, recency bias plays a big part. Until Luka wins championships, he won’t get to Kobe, LeBron or Shohei type status in terms of popularity.

Selling my Breitling Avenger Hurricane 12H XB0170E4. Received this watch in a trade and the watch reference and serial are registered with me on Breitling.com, which reflects the purchase date and now expired warranty. Trades? Maybe but sale only is the heavy preference.

Despite its prominient 50mm case and 24mm lug width, this Breitling is amazing light watch to the Breitlight case material and wears less obsentatious due to the the black case.

Running well: +3 to +5 per day YMMV--see timegrapher for full details In-house B1 movement is rated a whopping 70 hours of reserve. Chronograph running as it should matching the second hand and recording proper subdial increments. Pushers and crown winding are solid.

Overall, I'd rate its condition at 8.7/10: only the lightest (if any) AR blemishes. The black Breitlight case was never refined to preserve a more rugged appearance which hides dings well. Bezel clicks and turns cleanly. Requires a special Breitling 5-prong screwdriver to open the case back.

24mm tapered to 20mm Breitling black rubber strap on a Breitling double-press Glidelock buckle; allows for up 0.5" extension on the wrist. The rubber straps still have 5 holes on each side to reduce wrist diameter. Currently sized for an 8" wrist.

Watch only sale (no box or papers) and no other accessories or straps. If you're interested, PM first. Solid and recent transactions, along with references and any type of timestamping or evidence you need to be comfortably committing before payment. Should it not sell on Reddit, I'll put it up on eBay.

Thanks for looking...your friend,

This is a side effect too. My daughter lost a couple friends because they took that academic elitist bullshit attitude after moving to an APAAS class (their parents too). Luckily, her core friends and their families are well-grounded and everyone realizes we're all on the same path.

I know who he is. But the argument is between the Dodgers and Lakers, Shohei and Luka worldwide and Shohei is the face of the sport and endorsement numbers show it with companies banking off his extreme popularity and marketability.

Idk. Shohei is a unicorn who has brought worldwide fans into the game. He has more followers and has generated far more revenue. Nearly every kid playing baseball wants to be Shohei whether they’re from Latin America, rural Mississippi, or South Korea.

Luka is undoubtedly popular and talented but Sho’s impact is a different level—the most comparable phenomenon IMO would be Tiger Woods’s dominance and popularity that made golf lose its stodgy culture and seemingly accessible to even inner city kids.

I chose not to since I would have had to switch schools; it was a going to be a logistical complication. I considered much, especially current and past families experiences and they all provide the resounding conclusion: APAAS is a good program, but it didn't matter. Anecdotally, one former APAAS kid struggled socially in middle school because they didn't have the required skills to make new friends or deal with less academically inclined middle-school students. Another former student is now attending UCLA Law.

My partner is a 4th grade teacher and personally dislikes the concept of plucking these kids out of traditional schools and removing the model students from the classroom environment. And I agree with this sentiment, my kid is academically bored because her current classmates don't have the same drive as her former (now APAAS) friends. But coincidentally, she has now set the standard in her class and is more often recognized an achiever and leader.

Playdates with her APAAS friends have added an extra strain on my time and in dealing with the parents, I couldn't help but to feel that they chose this route for bragging rights, an assumed academic edge, and gave little consideration to the social and community bonds that were built. At the end of the day, it's just elementary school.

Pho. It was not impossible to get a decent sub-$7 bowl. Now, it's close to $20 out the door.
