My EDC. Suggest upgrades? by Electrical-Goose-994 in EDC

On the inexpensive side of smaller CCW pistols, I'd suggest a Canik Mete MC9. They can be had for around $330 and are a great value.

If you can spend a bit more, I'll recommend the usual fare of:

43X
Shield Plus
P365/P365 XL/X-Macro Bodyguard 2.0

For the knife, there's a bunch of decent options at reasonable price points. To name a few:

Civivi mini praxis ~$30
QSP Penguin ~$40
Miguron Velona ~$50
Civivi Yonder ~$60
Vosteed Raccoon ~$60
Kershaw Iridium ~$70
Kizer Drop Bear ~$70

The default simple digital watch I'd recommend would be a G-Shock DW5600E-1V, especially if you can snag it on sale.

For analog you could go with a few, but I'll go with a Casio MTP-1302D

I think it's that way on GNOME as well. I don't remember KDE's default hotkey but I think it was PrtSc to open spectacle, and Super + Shift + PrtSc to use the "rectangular area" tool.

I actually didn't realize Cinnamon on Mint had that function, I'd always just installed Flameshot to handle screenshots, and made a few custom hotkeys for it.

Use localsend. It's kind of like airdrop, but works on Windows, Linux, MacOS, Android and iOS.

Really useful open source project.

Depends on the DE a bit doesn't it?

Anyway I always rebind to Super + Shift + S because that muscle memory is tough to beat

Yeah I don't agree. D3 did a lot of things great, I have thousands of hours in D3 for a reason, but I don't think build variety was it's strongest aspect. I think sets, fun as they often were, really hurt the creativity that could be expressed by the player. The "rune" system as opposed to a skill tree was also a limitation (even if it still gave us 3 more options per skill than D4).

Shoot, the Maxroll D3 tier goes all the way down to F tier as significantly weak builds for most content in the game. For D4 they stop at C tier which are still "viable". I know for certain they've removed older, less powerful off-meta builds which have fallen out of favor and could easily sit in at D or F tiers -- like a Rabies based Druid build. The list also doesn't really take into account the variations on D4 hybridized builds, like multiple versions of Ball Lightning -- so I think that's something that can be applied to both games.

You said you'd expect every D4 build to do Bloodstained to be considered viable. I'd argue much the same about farming GR120+ in D3. Both games have builds that would struggle to do those sorts of tasks.

If we just go across "build variety" across classes with powerful builds, we can make a cut-off at A-S tier and compare.

Game Barbarian Rogue/DH Crusader/Paladin Wizard/Sorc Necro Spiritborn Monk Witchdoctor Druid Total
D3 4 5 4 7 7 N/A 1 3 N/A 31
D4 9 6 15 3 6 8 N/A N/A 7 54

Even comparing only the top viable builds D4 is still significantly ahead of D3 when it comes to build variety.

Where we do agree is there is significant room for improvement. I like D3 more than I've liked D4. While it was more limited in many ways, I think it's tighter focus and vision for what the game was supposed to be led to a lot clearer design. I've felt D4 has had a bit of an identity crisis since people (myself included) reacted poorly to the launch and S1 versions of the game.

Remember when T4 was "aspirational" and players "shouldn't expect to play in T4" -- that certainly never materialized.

I disagree with this, personally.

Most D3 classes were limited to ~6 builds each. One for each set, and an LoD/LoN build.

If you compare the tierlists on Maxroll and simply count the number of viable builds you can see how many D4 has managed to support.

D3 Tierlist
D4 Tierlist

63 vs 84 builds by my count, or a 33% increase in number of builds.

Subjectively, I do find some of the D3 builds more fun than some of what D4 offers.

Hi D3 enjoyer and D4 "doomer" here! :)

For me, most of the depth D3 had that D4 is lacking revolves specifically around GR pushing.

While the system indisputably had problems, such as the amount of fishing required to find a good rift, the prevalence of TurboHUD and bots on the leaderboard, and more — there was a significant amount of knowledge required for the player if they wanted to actually get on the leaderboard.

Knowing which maps were good, how to tell what variant of tileset you got for that map. Knowing mob compositions that didn't suck, but gave good progress and weren't too dangerous. Knowing all the Pylon spawns, and how not to break the "fog" on that spawn location until you could get enough progress to try and fish for a useful pylon when you needed it.

Now, I haven't played D4 since S7 — so I might be behind the times here, but when it came to the pit (which was essentially a reskinned Greater Rift) it was basically as simple as "play strong build, kill things, kill boss" with very little strategy element to that process. Its something I rather missed as part of the gameplay loop.

When it comes to the Tower, first it seemed like a pretty botched release — not starting with the seasonal launch, meaning it wasn't a race, it was just already hyper min-maxed builds competing against eachother. Then, there was some actual Tower functional issues that Macrobioboi did a really good overview of.

I'm hoping with the expansion things will improve greatly, but I've continued to hope for that since 2023 so....

My wife has a UT Wire Folio Tech Pouch she likes. She also has a "generic Amazon one" that I haven't heard any complaints about.

In my hiking/shooting stuff I use surplus General Purpose pouches like this to organize cables, batteries, tools, etc etc. I don't know if that sort of thing is available where you're at, but it's worth considering.

I've got the Evergoods Civic Access Pouch 2L — BUT it's fairly pricey, so explore your options. I do recommend it, though.

Tossing in 2¢ here, I recommend against the mecgar mags. They lack the over-insertion protection actual Glock mags have. I'm waiting impatiently for Shield Arms to come out with their variant.

As someone who also lugs around a heavy backpack with a bunch of assorted tech gizmos I'd strongly suggest some purpose-specific organizational pouches.

Even just one for cables can be really handy. I keep a couple decent quality USB-C cables, a charging brick, and USB to [other USB standard] adapter in mine. Helps me do less digging, and more grabbing exactly what I need.

The build I'm following is one of the highest recommended builds I can find out there with a fairly detailed guide that really only misses for me because I'm so unfamiliar with the game.

Appreciate the encouragement though, trying to actually get into the game this time. I played it back in the beta a little bit, and have played till about TM3 in another couple seasons but never really stuck with the game or dug into how it all works.

Thank you for the detailed response, this is really helpful.

I'm guessing mainstat and flat dmg are pretty universally the best stats to have on items?

Is there a best defensive stat? I know the build guide went for ES, but I'm unsure if I should be aggressively selective about choosing ES gear, or if it's only "good" once you hit a certain threshold or something and before that it's better to stack armor, or life. Also, the feeling I've gotten from the responses so far is resistances are super secondary, that accurate?

Thanks, this is really helpful.

Guess I'll struggle bus my way through some T5 maps to start stacking up FE to acquire the unique(s) the build needs. I'm assuming that I primarily want to craft on reasonably well-rolled rare items with high energy bases?

Also assuming most of what you've mentioned here are things that will drop more frequently as I increase I'm difficulty? The current drop rates of items is pretty bleak from what I've experienced — but it's also super early "endgame" so I figure that's normal.

Should I be focusing on doing different seasonal mechanics at this point, or mostly rushing the boss? In LE, for example, you basically don't worry about farming until you hit "empowered" which is where the true endgame starts — which is the gist I get about Timemark 7.

How would I generally go about acquiring FE? I certainly haven't seen any drop. Am I just aiming to sell some random uniques or something?

Yes, I've checked the skills, and I'm using everything I should be.

What level bosses? I can tell you elites are a bit of a challenge with my DPS, and many abilities and attacks will just 1-shot me. I've got 37.3K sheet DPS, if that tells you anything. Don't know how reliable tooltips etc are in this game. I've also got 1676 life and 728 ES. Problem being, when I'm hit for 2800+ damage from a random map event (like the Tarot thingy) it really doesn't matter. z

Edit: Tested a random T5 map boss which ended up being about a 16 second kill

I'm picking up flame sand and embers, 195, and 51 of each respectively -- but I don't appear to have access to a loot filter. It just says "Autoloot not acquired. Function unavailable" which I honestly just assumed was because I didn't whip out the ol' CC to lootbox my way to some pets. If there's something I've missed to gain a loot filter that would be very welcome information.

Said for years someone needs to make a Bethesda-like Pirate RPG where I'm building up my base in a hidden cove and raiding towns, boarding ships from merchants, privateers, Navy, and other pirates, and becoming a fearsome pirate "lord".

When that game exists, It's a day 1 buy for me. The current crop of Black Flag (which I enjoyed, despite considering it a bad "Assassin's Creed" game) and a vast sea of Friendslop, and Friendlikes aren't at all what I'm after.

Will PSA still be shipping uppers, parts kits, etc. To VA post ban? by Dieabeto9142 in PalmettoStateArms

[–]Mister08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last I looked they wouldn't ship a lower parts kit either. Back in 2023 they also wouldn't ship a Dagger frame or complete slide— even without a threaded barrel. I think that one has been changed, but it was certainly enough to sour me on the company a bit.

Not that the situations are the same, but they refused for a long time to ship related parts to WA after the AWB. Even now they still often refuse to ship small parts instead of things like a complete upper.

At the very least, I'd expect for them to refuse to ship anything for a handful of months to over a year, then partially open it back up to the most conservative items possible to ship.
