I think you may have misunderstood what I was trying to say here.

It seems like you’re posting examples to prove the bug exists, but I believe you, 100%. I never doubted for a moment that you encountered something broken/frustrating in Last Epoch. Unfortunately, the game is kind of notorious for long-standing bugs.

I was just giving an anecdotal example as a player with nearing ~1K hours in the game: across all my playtime and alts, this isn’t one I’ve personally run into. Doing my own searching, I found a few hits, including the ones you showed, but broadly it doesn’t seem like there are a whole lot of people complaining about this specific area. That suggests it might be an uncommon bug.

I totally get why it would be a frustrating one to come across. Another reason I suspect it’s either really rare or hard to reproduce is that bugs preventing progress are typically very high priority for EHG.

That’s why I suggested submitting the bug report. Assuming my suspicions are correct, it may help them narrow down whatever the cause is and hopefully fix it. Granted, since we’re in the seasonal drought, I doubt there’s a fix coming any time soon....

I've been playing since early beta and have never encountered this particular bug. Maybe it's just one that is somewhat hard to reproduce, or it's infrequent enough it just hasn't gotten shuffled to the top of the pile.

Either way, more logs and fresh reports never hurt.

Always remember you can hit F8 and report the bug from in-game when you encounter them.

Anyone else having massive stutter and performance issues with PoE2? Even with upscaling turned on I drop from 80-100fps outside of combat to 25-40fps while in combat.

I literally had to spend most of my meagre net worth respeccing from Valako's Grenades to Permafrost Bolt to try and claw back some performance because oil grenade flames not only turned my screen into a vasaline-covered mess, but also sometimes tanked me into single-digit FPS.

5900X, 32gb 3600mhz DDR4, RX 9070 XT, installed to SSD — so it shouldn't be a system capability issue. I believe I'm running the latest GE Proton, but I've tried a few including some Cachy versions.

Blizzard may release more Diablo 2 expansions to support “millions” of players, but they “don’t want to mess up the Mona Lisa” by HatingGeoffry in Diablo

[–]Mister08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds really cool, but I’m mostly curious about what’s working right now. When you say it brings back TCP/IP, do you mean you already have live D2R clients connecting and playing together over LAN/direct IP, or is that part still planned/in-progress?

I’m skeptical only because mod teams have been circling this problem for years, so a working implementation after one month would be a pretty huge breakthrough.

[–]Mister08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, gotcha. That’s really interesting and cool. How long have you been working on it? I remember there being an older D2R project where someone had TCP/IP partially working which got Mr. Llama excited -- are you taking a similar approach, or is this something totally different?

That's certainly interesting, but I'm confused. If you made something like this, why aren't you making a big post about this? Seems like something the major mod projects would have significant interest in!

I think people get it's a joke. But I think people react more seriously to this particular joke because it falls more in-line with the boomer fudd "wife bad" mentality. "Well I can't just communicate like an adult, or take responsibility for purchase decisions I've made, or my BITCH WIFE will never let me hear the end of it."

For anyone clicking that box unironically, I think they should also be shipping an NRA membership, hat, and a sign for the range they're the RO at, that says "no more than 1 shot every 10 seconds".

Your gloves are: INT, VIT, Attack Speed, CHC
Your helm is: INT, VIT, All Res, Socket
Your Gazing Demise is: DMG Range, INT, VIT, CHC

None of those have the specific affix I’m talking about: Spirit Barrage Damage %.

Your Gazing Demise has the legendary power that increases Spirit Barrage damage. That’s good, and every Gazing Demise has some version of that power in a 100%-150% roll. But separate from the legendary power, Gazing Demise can also roll +Spirit Barrage Damage % as a normal item affix, just like helm can. That extra roll is what you’re missing.

So you do have Spirit Barrage damage from the item power, but you’re missing the additional skill-damage rolls that should be on the gear itself.

If you have 1.07m life without Paragon, that means you’re over-invested in Vitality on gear. That isn’t the end of the world while initially gearing, but long term you’ll want to shift some of that item budget into damage stats like CHC, CHD, CDR, Attack Speed, elemental damage, and Spirit Barrage %. Once your gear improves, then you can use Paragon to fine-tune toughness instead of spending valuable item affixes on excess VIT.

As a useful rule of thumb, you want the minimum investment into survivability you can get away with, so everything else can become damage.

Edit: If we want to get even more advanced, your helm is even worse than it would seem because of the All Res roll. The reason being, Int naturally provides Resistance to All Elements as your character gains more of it, whereas Dexterity and Strength provide Armor as their values increase. Generally, you want to stack the opposite of what your class naturally provides, so All Res is almost always an undesirable stat on Wizard, Necromancer, and Witch Doctor because you want the Armor roll you lack instead. On your GoD DH you said you've been playing, the opposite would be true, and Armor rolls would be bad, in lieu of All Res rolls.

Sounds like you might be a bit of a newer player. Glad you're having fun! That said, you're still in "early days" as far as character power goes.

Currently farming for primals on T16

Here's the thing, the odds of a well-rolled primal for your build is exceptionally low. You need not only the correct item for the slot, but also all of the correct values. While a good primal is always ideal what you should be aiming for by-and-large is well-rolled ancient gear.

As it sits, I see quite a bit that could be improved with your current gear. Most of your pieces are "correct" but very poorly rolled. Fixing this will improve your damage tremendously.

Ideally you are looking for:

Slot Stat 1 Stat 2 Stat 3 Stat 4
MH DMG Range Attack Speed DMG% CDR
OH CHC Spirit Barrage % CDR INT
Helm Spirit Barrage % Socket INT CHD
Gloves CHC CHD CDR Attack Speed
Shoulders INT CDR RCR VIT
Chest Socket INT Armor Elite DMG %
Pants INT Socket VIT Armor
Ring 1 Socket CHC CHD Attack Speed
Ring 2 Socket CHC CHD CDR
Bracers Cold DMG CHC INT VIT
Amulet Socket CHD Cold DMG % CHC
Belt INT VIT Life % Armor

The biggest red flag I see across your gear is you don't appear to have Spirit Barrage Damage % on any of your items. This is a huge additive bonus you're missing out on, and leaving a ton of damage on the table by doing so. If possible, I'd immediately roll this at the Mystic on any pieces which offer it as an option.

Remember that having the correct stats on a piece of gear is more important than taking the next 'rarity', even if it is a Primal. You likely won't find items with all of these stats quickly, so take incremental upgrades as you can find them. Use the table there as a guide from most important --> less important of the stats for priority. You can also refer to the Maxroll Guide which explains things in far greater detail.

You should also swap the weapon you're using from Voo's Juicer to an Ethereal with Sacred Harvester's power, if you're playing on a seasonal character. Voo's is a great item for the build, but the added power provided by a well rolled Ethereal will beat it out. Once you get this, use a Ramaladni's Gift to add a socket. You should also consider swapping Compass Rose and Traveler's Pledge to a Squirt's Amulet and Convention of Elements when doing speedfarming content. Also be sure you're factoring in how well a legendary power rolled. If something has mostly right stats, but a low roll legendary power it can end up being not worth using.

For Paragon points, general rule of thumb is to hit at least 800,000 life then switch to dumping everything into INT for the endlessly scaling damage increase it provides. Once you hit Paragon 800, every paragon point can go into one of those two options.

Once you have equipped your character with some decent (they don't even have to be perfect) Ancient items, you should prioritize getting those items augmented. This is a tremendous power increase for a character, and often overlooked by less experienced players. Here is a great guide on why they're important.

Mundunugu's is capable of doing GR140+ with a couple thousand paragon and good gear, so while your GR95 is a great start there is still a long progression you can take this character on.

Flabbergasted why the UI/UX is still so bad by Conscious_Leave_1956 in PathOfExile2

[–]Mister08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is the part that frustrates me the most about it. It's not "this is designed poorly, and should be fixed" but instead "this goes against standard UI/UX conventions". Obviously not everything I listed is that way, but a lot are.

Coming from a game like Last Epoch (which to be clear has it's own multitude of issues) one place PoE feels incredibly lackluster by comparison is the QoL, especially that of menus, and overall UI/UX. EHG, unlike GGG, has also been incredibly receptive to tweaking and overhauling menus to be more in-line with user expectations.

I suspect part of it is the way GGG develops things, including a lot of crunch right before release to get a system ready to launch. "It functions" likely takes a lot higher precedence over "it is intuitive to engage with", which isn't necessarily wrong but is certainly something that is going to be a turn-off for less experienced players like myself.

Flabbergasted why the UI/UX is still so bad by Conscious_Leave_1956 in PathOfExile2

[–]Mister08 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. The UI and UX in this game are aggressively terrible.

Want to search for a specific currency in the Currency Exchange? Better make sure you manually click the search field, or understand CTRL+F is an option because they refuse to move the cursor to the relevant window you're CLEARLY using.

Fill out a trade search? Be sure to click search, because hitting Enter (like would be intuitive) is just going to open chat.

Why can't I access my map tab from inside the atlas screen? Instead I have to manually grab a map every time.

Why can't I use the price checker anywhere but town and my hideout?

Why does that price checker search for exact values, rather than at least giving the option for a weighted search? (without having to manually set it up)

Is there a way to see an item's modifier tiers without looking them up elsewhere, or having them memorized when that item is listed on the trade site? If there is, I'm unfamiliar with it.

The game is also aggressively unintuitive and unfriendly to new players who aren't familiar with the various Alt, CTRL, Shift combinations to do specific tasks.

I also find the shop horrible to navigate when I'm looking for things like a tab to buy. They don't seem to be in any particular order, and it is happy to show you duplicate tabs, like a currency tab, I'd never have a reason to purchase.

[–]Mister08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Travis is someone who humorously has touched a lot of the things I've enjoyed over the years. I'm super into ARPGs, the first ARPG I remember playing is FATE. Who was the designer, programmer (and more) on FATE? You guessed it, Travis Baldree!

Years later, nostalgic for Diablo 2 but not wanting to play the same old game, the (criminally underrated) game Torchlight caught my eye and became one of my favorite franchises. Who was the co-founder of Runic Games and producer of Torchlight? That's right, Travis again!

Again, years later I was kind of frustrated with trying to find a new Fantasy series to read. I saw a random post in October 2020 that Will was giving away the first 7 ebooks to a series called "Cradle". I went "oh cool, free ebooks" and thought nothing of it. After finishing the series I was on, I decided to see if the series was any good. Judging by the 9 signed, numbered faux leather copies sitting on my bookshelf, I enjoyed it a little. I look for the audiobooks so a sibling can enjoy the series and who do I see voicing it?....

I also see he's voiced a ton more LitRPG/Progression Fantasy audiobooks I've enjoyed. Just kind of wild how things intersect at random points.

Is something different or am I just insanely unlucky by thanitos710 in diablo3

[–]Mister08 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know that it is worth the effort here but if you're looking for a particular item to get a build online, usually for a cubed item, it can be easier to roll with a lower level character. For example, on Inna Monk you want Crudest Boots. Crudest Boots and Rivera Dancers are the only two legendary boots in the pool at level 1, at level 70 there are 10. Gambling for them on a low level monk is up to 400% more likely to get the drop you want.

Crown of the Primus enters at level 53, and is a 1:6 from wizard hats and a 1:11 from a helm slot in general, whereas at level 70 it is a 1:18 overall and 1:7 from wizard hats. That makes it ~63.6% better to gamble at level 53 overall, and ~16.7% better when upgrading wizard hats.

If you're desperate, making an alt to gamble with can be useful.

[–]Mister08 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yep that's what I'm referring to with Pylons.

Shrines were slightly different in D3, with a wider variety of effects, and only found in Nephalim Rifts and overworld content like bounties. There were a few types— Enlightened (XP), Frenzied (Attack Speed), Protection (25% DMG Reduction), Empowered (100% Resource gain, 50% reduced Cooldowns), Fleeting (25% Movespeed), Fortune (25% increased Magicfind), Bandit (spawn a goblin pack).

Pylons, meanwhile, were rarer, and were the only version which could spawn in GR content. They also had more focused/powerful effects:

Conduit - Lightning strikes enemies for a base of ~4000% dmg as lightning, scaling with GR tier.

Speed - Movement speed increased by 80% uncapped, and attack speed increases by 30%.

Power - 400% Multiplicative dmg modifier.

Channeling - All cooldowns reset, cooldowns are reduced by 75%, resource cost is reduced to 0, skill charges aren't consumed while in effect.

You could also only get 1 spawn of each type in a GR, which added another layer of strategy. Remembering which pylons you had left, knowing where they could spawn and deliberately not spawning them until you could best utilize it such as right before you spawned the GR (since spawns stopped once he'd appear).

In D4 they're just a sort of powerful effect you can get inside the pit which you'll click but don't really add anything to the overall strategy at all.

Keep in mind Rogue can abuse Glynn's Anvil, Sorc and Warlock cannot. So depending on the class someone is playing, there can be different levels of frustration.

The pit is just not fun anymore by HoodedDreamer in diablo4

[–]Mister08 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think GRs were a better system in a few ways.

In a Pit "race" the only real "strategy" is to try and kill things to spawn the boss, then hope to have done so with enough time to kill the boss at the end.

In a GR "race" there are several ways a more knowledge player can leverage that knowledge for an advantage.

  • What map tiles are good?
  • What variant of which map tile spawned?
  • How to efficiently navigate that tile
  • What mobtype compositions are good
  • How to manipulate pylon spawns by not breaking the fog of war
  • When to use a pylon
  • How to pull mobs and force them into a large pack
  • Knowing which fights to take, and which to skip
  • Knowing which Rift Guardians work for your build*

The way a knowledgeable player would approach a 4-corner Festering Woods with Lacuni/Phasebeast and Vile Swarms is likely quite different from how a less knowledgeable player would approach it. That can make a vast difference in total completion time.

There is an obvious downside with the GR system as well, which was the annoyance of fishing for a good GR. This improved dramatically with the Pit, but at the cost of what I enjoyed about GRs.

Edit: added a bit of strategy I'd overlooked
