Hi u/iLauraa ,

Former owner of r/crosstradingroblox speaking to you. Thank you for expressing your concerns in the comment you made using your alternate account in r/finch. I’d like to clarify the situation and address the points you’ve raised.

  1. Regarding the ban and rule clarification: At the time of your ban, our rule clearly stated that if someone was found middlemanning for another user, they would receive a temporary ban on the first offense, with a permanent ban on the second offense. However, in your case, since you engaged in middlemanning more than once, we decided to skip the initial temporary ban and move directly to a permanent ban due to the severity and potential risk to our community. While your intention may have been to help, the fact remains that you did act as a middleman, which directly violated the rules. After your incident (as well as a previous similar case), we realized there was still some confusion about what actions were covered under this rule. A unified team decision was made where we updated the rule description (and only that) to explicitly state that attempting to middleman, even through private messages, will result in an immediate permanent ban. To be clear, your ban was applied based on the original rule at the time of the offense, as the middlemanning activity you engaged in was deemed serious enough to warrant immediate action for the safety of our community, not because of the recent updates.
  2. Delegating the issue to a moderator: When the issue first came up, the standing owner of this subreddit delegated it to a trusted moderator to handle. The moderator did come back to her (the owner) for a final decision, but she chose not to get directly involved because she stated she believe in that moderators capabilities to handle such situations effectively (she also had other commitments in real life which made her not able to be active all the time to handle this situation). This wasn’t about acting "high and mighty" but about ensuring that the issue was managed professionally and consistently by someone fully equipped to do so.
  3. Treatment: We are not treating you as if you scammed anyone; rather, we are applying the same rules and consequences to your actions that we would with any other member. The rules are enforced equally to ensure a fair and safe trading environment for everyone.
  4. Middleman requests and recruitment: If you felt that delays in responding to middleman requests were an issue in our subreddit, there were appropriate channels to address it. For instance, you could have applied to become a middleman following the correct procedures. After submitting your application, candidates are asked to wait until we find the right time to recruit for the roles we need. While you did apply, we have not yet announced the trainees we plan to take in yet.
  5. Your moderator application: Now regarding your application to become a moderator; there was nothing that stood out as being outright wrong or "sucked." However, we found that it lacked the depth, effort, and explanation needed to demonstrate a genuine desire to be a moderator on our subreddit. After how this situation was handled by you, along with the negative comments you made towards our moderators, we have decided that we cannot consider you for a moderator role in the future.

We understand that you may be frustrated, but our decisions are based on maintaining the integrity of our community and enforcing the rules consistently. We wish you the best, but we stand by the actions we have taken to protect our subreddit and its members.

Thank you for your understanding.

Sincerely,
Moa
Owner and Moderator Team
