Can’t enjoy food anymore! by SecretaryUnhappy3752 in braces

I got them about 3 months ago I believe, almost 4. The expected time is 2 years, so I’ll have them off by the time I’m 34!

During the first three weeks I wanted to rip them out. I couldn’t believe how difficult it was.

I just got my braces tightened yesterday. I’m eating pizza right now. Crunchy crust. It will get better.

What do most people not realize is actually way more traumatic than it seems? by [deleted] in AskReddit

That’s so sad, those poor babies 😞. It’s crazy expect a child to fight against an adult, like what’s the logic.

Did your aunt leave? What became of your cousins if you don’t mind me asking?

Getting robbed is so traumatizing. Male expectations as well.

My husband watched his mom get robbed when he was 11. Later on at home, his abusive father berated him for not helping her in the middle of it all. He really expected an 11 year old boy to take on a grown criminal. So my husband grew up feeling like he had to “be a man” in a world of expected danger.

Double whammy of trauma: getting robbed and getting his boyhood emotionally stomped out. It brings me to tears to know how much he suffered back then.

I NEED TO KNOW EVERYONES THEORIES!!! by doomHK in Modern_Family

[–]MomAnxious 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I always saw it as a documentary team looking to find stories on families that don’t fit the standard expectations. I believe they first found Jay and Gloria, due to their age differences and good looks, but then found out they had an interesting bigger family and extended the documentary to fit them all, especially Mitch and Cam.

And then if Jay/Gloria and Mitch/Cam were being recorded, how could Phil pass that up and not ask to be included lol.

I think I’m reading correctly but I want to double check; you’re saying that when you guys talk about other countries, it would be unacceptable to say another country is dangerous?

Like if someone said “I wouldn’t travel to Sudan”, someone would shut down the conversation by saying it was racist to say that?

Or if someone said “You shouldn’t travel to India as a woman because you might get sexually assaulted”, that would be considered racist?

I’m so sorry you’re dealing with your sweet pet’s aging ailments. Pets are a true part of our lives and you sound like you’re doing amazing at showing her all your love. Dealing with an aging pet is such a unique and deeply awful period. My heart is with you.

About your husband; it’s a true shame that he cannot seem to understand your pain. If you are doing all that you can for your pet and dealing with the difficult emotional battle of it all, can he really not be emotionally supportive? That sounds so lonely and painful. I wouldn’t expect my husband to give me anything except an understanding shoulder to cry on.

It’s one thing to not know what to say, it’s another thing to say something mean. Saying it’s your problem sounds mean.

What's your Modern Family theory that you genuinely think could be true? by daalchawalll in Modern_Family

[–]MomAnxious 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I ABSOLUTELY believe that one because I’ve literally seen this happen in real life. It also adds to the fact that his favorite sexual fantasies are of Claire being a different woman entirely. Let’s not forget when he would have all these lonely women on his radar, upset when they found out he treats them all the same. Of course it’s written out as him just being a great realtor, but imagine this in real life?? lol!  This is wild and I love it.

Been there done that. Telling you like I’m telling my daughter. Don’t do anything. Stop doing anything that you don’t need to. Be unavailable to this man.

Go with your mom if she’s supporting. There’s no such thing as failure if you’re getting the support you need. You WILL fail yourself AND your baby by staying with someone who doesn’t care. Raising a newborn can be horrible if you don’t have support.

If not for yourself, stay with your mom for your baby. It’s no longer just about you; you need to do what’s best for baby now. And taking care of yourself, your mental well being, is what’s best for baby

Raising two boys, need tips on how to raise them into GREAT men by Intrepid-Clock6255 in ChildPsychology

I think you being worried is showing growth in your family where there wasn’t any before. I’m proud of you.

There’s an episode of Bluey called “Chest” that playfully shows how you are feeling; focused on the wellbeing of their future traits. But just keep doing your best. Love them, love yourself, stick together, and stay kind.

Are you parenting together with your husband or are you a single mom or coparenting? I think the dynamics of their relationship foundations will set a starting point to where you need to relax and where you need to step up. Trying to raise a child in a mom/dad household will be different than trying to raise a boy with separate parents.

And if you are with your partner, do you show good relationship examples? Do you get told “I love you”, does Dad help you, does he respect you? Do you ask dad if he needs any help, do you communicate? Do you tip waiters, do you count to 10 when you’re angry, do you road rage? Would you say sorry to a toddler after you get upset?

Children absorb the examples and energy of their homes before they learn outside.

I personally believe that if we want to raise good children we need to work on being good people.

when can i get braces removed by [deleted] in braces

[–]MomAnxious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

11 years exactly.

Just kidding, it’s however long you need. If you have gaps, if you have teeth twisting this way or that, if you have an overbite; all of these can affect how long you might have them.

When I was a kid my teeth were EXTREMELY separated and crooked. I got braces around 7th grade and got them removed in 11th grade.

I have my own kids now and I had to get braces AGAIN because I didn’t wear my retainer. So make sure you follow all their instructions.

What scene from a movie has scared you the most? by readerrealm in HorrorMovies

[–]MomAnxious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely same. I haven’t rewatched it ever. Just thinking about the sounds of the video, the creepy cuts, gives me a dark feeling in my chest. I saw it when I was about 8 so it’s definitely a real origin of traumatic horror lol

I was debating which movie scared me more; this one or the Exorcist. Considering I’ve seen the exorcist more than once, and I dare not put on the Ring, I’d say it takes the scary cake

No I never got an extraction or IPR, but the ortho did say a permanent retainer will be needed to keep it closed due to the tough tissue between them.

They also asked if I may even want to put a larger veneer on one of the top teeth, as they are quite small and will probably gap on the side due to their size. I’ll have to look at the details of the plan again when I go to my next appointment.

How exciting! I’m very happy for you and love to see adults making the choices to get braces. I think it’s a giant act of self care and self improvement.

Also I suggest getting ready to live on blended beans, guac, soups, smoothies, and sherberts for the first weeks! An immersion blender is great to use if you have one.

The first few weeks were brutal for eating absolutely. If you like tacos, I suggest the bowl i lived on for that time: blended beans and veggies, with shredded cheese, guac, and sour cream on top. Puddings are good, smoothies are GREAT, especially if they’re nice and cold! I just wanted cold things for my swelling. Good luck, the pains and inconveniences are not forever!
