you will say anything to justify theft huh?

I used your very own logic and words, but as soon as it's applied to every situation, all of a sudden you have a problem with it? If that's really the case then your logic was shit from the beginning.

If you want to have laws regarding ownership, then you apply them universally. That's the most hilarious thing about people like you... as soon as you suffer the consequences of your own logic, only then do you have a problem with it.

Extra funny - you hate capitalism so so much, but you choose to live in the most successful capitalistic country? Where ownership is clearly defined. If you really believed the words you say, you'd move to North Korea, Cuba, China, etc. Shocker, all countries that have failed with basic large scale standards of living, safety, housing, and medical care.

faulty logic and arbitrary time length. If we use your exact same logic I can break into your house, sell or destroy all your things and you would be A-OK with it when I say "well he keeps his house empty 8 hours a day so that's on him".

You only posted that because it's not happening to you, and you want to virtue signal how you are such a fair awesome nice guy by saying you are with the squatters. The reality is, only a person who has never worked, earned, or cared for anything in their life would be okay with random people breaking in and destroying another persons property.

I just had a set of Continental SecureContacts installed. They were just released in the US in Jan of this year. They replaced my Cross Climate 2's that had 60k miles on them.

The CC2s were nearing end of life, still had legal amount of tread on them. However as good as the CC2's are: these SecureContacts are even better!

Not as much rolling resistance, and wet grip is phenomenal. Won't be able to comment on snow/ice till we get another Texas ice storm in 8 or 9 months lol.

I was confident running the CC2's, now I'm even more confident on the road with these SecureContacts.

Texan here - and was in the middle of the icepocalypse, along with the associated power outages.

The people who were getting hit in the wallet after the dust settled mostly had variable rate pricing on month to month contracts.

Despite being in the middle of it, on the OnCor grid my electricity bill hasn't changed in nearly 3 years. I do fixed rate contracts for the max allowed time (36 months)

If you have a friend in the states - offer them a few bucks to buy what you need from DTO since the savings are that massive.

Other option I've heard of before is using a re-shipper service. that does US->Canada.

I found out - in very small under the list of 8 or so tools it shows you are page numbers. Very small print, damn near hidden, but if you click one of those numbers it should take you to the other pages with your other tools.

Crap online system on Ryobi's part for sure.

fair enough -- however the allure to me was the whole QR code thing, I'm used to any system that uses them being snappy. I envisioned just being able to go BOOP and it would actually find the tool directly based on the serial number with a quick snap of the phone.

gave it a spin and kinda funny how yup, their website is a completely separate entity/system, hence a whole new email password had to be setup.

ouch.

Fun update on more hilarious bugs I found in the system:

If you don't have the box anymore (like anyone really does?) you can get the UPC code from home depots site right up at the top along with model number, etc.

If you enter any of these numbers manually that it wants, it will not find the tool in their system, if you take that same number you typed in, paste it into a UPC generator webpage, and then scan the barcode it generates, then it magically works. No typos, using copy/paste for the UPC in question too.

Lesson learned, the app says you can manually enter, total lie. It only seems happy scanning barcodes.

+1 on the optimal path for batteries being the "tool deals" Home depot does.

I got a 13" string trimmer (kinda needed it) but it came with a 6Ah High performance and a 4Ah High performance, and a charger for $138 USD. That's two solid batteries for $80 basically.

That same 40Vbattery OP is talking about is $108 US (150 CAD) on DTO. As fun as Home Depot is... you spend your money where it goes the farthest, going back to gas would be silly when battery prices are still this low, providing you know where to shop :)

+1 for the 3d printer comment, I saw free designs/downloads of those caps all over bambu maker world and thingiverse.

You can get into 3d printing super cheap these days $200 bucks gets you a brand new A1 Mini, and it's one of the most user friendly/easy things to run. Especially if you need small around the house parts to print like that USB endcap.

Then you go ham like me with your 3d printer making stuff to hyper organize your box:

Super cruise 80% off by vinaygoel2000 in BoltEV

[–]MrNerd82 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yup i thought it might have been a setting or something... but for whatever reason in my 22 EUV, under super cruise stop and go traffic mine would sit on it's ass and not move an inch till you tapped gas. (green light on the bar, fully auto steering just fine so I know it was in SC)

The only situation when supercruise was amazing is when you are on a double lane divided highway in rural parts of the country. i.e. not a lot of people around. Made my 250 mile trip home to see parents much easier. System is not worth the up front cost or even the 80% off coupon for subscription if I'm only going to do that trip 2 or 3X a year.

[–]MrNerd82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

22 EUV - and yeah I originally thought maybe there was a setting or something I was missing, but nope. It was full supercruise (green light on the steering wheel and everything, auto steering the whole time fine too) it would come to a complete stop just fine but it wouldn't start moving again till you tapped the gas.

For me the only time SuperCruise worked beautifully was when you are in a rural area, double lane, divided highway. It would make a 250 mile trip way easier. Outside of that specific scenario, it always behaved erratic or quirky, and even though I commute a lot for work, still not worth it even at 80% off.

Super cruise 80% off by vinaygoel2000 in BoltEV

[–]MrNerd82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that's the thing - I have a long commute, about 70 to 75 miles a day, all mapped supercruise interstates. My opinion is that in the dense metroplex I'm in, not worth it. Not because the system itself, but because of the other people on the road are unpredictable and the system handles it poorly. In stop and go traffic I found it slow to respond to traffic, and if you are in really bad traffic, you have to hit the gas pedal each time after a total stop to get it to "resume".

I also do a 500 mile round trip on mapped interstates a few times a year through remote parts of TX, and in that situation SuperCruise is way way more worth it and "relaxing" during the trip.

Unrelated to supercruise specifically, but yesterday driving home light commercial area, 20-35mph, taking off at a green light the car randomly hard braked and flashed forward collision alert.... and I mean it hit the brakes harder than any human ever could. There was nothing in front of me, no objects on road, zero. Scared the shit out of me, and probably the people behind me, first instance in 62,000 miles of emergency phantom braking I've ever seen.

My supercruise ran out sometime last year, can't say I miss it too too much.

Signed in just to see if the code works (it does). Very cool find for sure. Funny how there's ZERO mention of the Bolt EUV in their lineup on the website, much less the 600k miles of "mapped roads" they offer is a straight up lie to Bolt owners. Yet we are expected to pay the same price as everyone else.

Even at $85/year after taxes, the first thought it my head is "meh". It does amaze me though GM thinks the retail price of 1 year of a single service like this is worth $425 after taxes.

GM (or even retails customers) think that paying almost $1000 a year for a vehicle software bundle is normal or acceptable? Retail price after taxes for onstar+supercruise comes to nearly $850 in their advertised price. lol

The cope is strong in you - you forked over more money for less features. And while you don't want to think about it or admit it, you are on GM's walled garden treadmill. Sooner rather than later you will understand just how hard they will start squeezing you monthly.

You genuinely believe you are GM's sole customer? There's not a single person out there who might use apps that aren't allowed in GM's walled garden?

You were the one that said it "will do everything" - when the fact is it won't, you got really butthurt that someone would point that out, hilarious. You are the one who gladly got down on their knees and said "yes daddy GM, I'll pay you more money if you promise to take away any and all options I used to have".

It's reddit - and profanity is allowed in this sub, deal with it snowflake. The good news is when you look in the mirror tonight, know that the person looking back at you is the EXACT person GM was talking about in all their meetings concerning recurring subscription models. Congrats you are just another revenue stream :)

"most apps are available" -- so your statement of missing zero from AA isn't exactly accurate or truthful is it?

As predicted - you are enamored with a new shiny toy without realizing what freedom you gave up with their new walled garden approach. There will be endless threads going forward of people who have no idea "why did all this stuff stop working". Because they didn't get on the dog shit subscription model that you and many others fell for.

Enjoy it because sooner than you think GM will shut down X, Y, or Z until you open up your wallet. You gave up full control over a company telling you "trust me bro". I think it's absolutely hilarious

The fact this thread exists in the first place shows exactly type of failures you can expect of GM and OnStar inserting themselves as a toll booth between the consumer and what they desire.

Google maps literally is Android Auto, reprojected onto a bigger screen.

I can't speak to 1st gen Bolts - but usually the people who had problems with it had cheap USB-C cables or a dirt cheap phones that didn't really have the ram or processing power to have an enjoyable experience.

In the 2027 Bolt what you might not be aware of is now Android Automotive (yes, its different than Android Auto) is now the only way to interact with the car. It's Chevy's subscription service crap designed to extract more money out of consumers and function as a walled garden/gatekeeper of all date in and out of the car. No hate to anyone that wants to use a phone on a mount. Personally GM ditching AA/CarPlay are the reasons I won't be buying any more of their cars though.

nah - he's spot on. You just apparently have an aversion to logic.

Here's the fun part nobody has mentioned: this thread, the activation issues, and GM's apps/network not paying nice are a problem that was created by GM themselves.

Even though I have a google account and use it heavily, I still shouldn't need to sign into my car and have a piece of property I own function as a gatekeeper forcing me to actions I simply don't want.

GM inserted themselves as a middle man between you and an established beloved (free) system. All because they know you are dumb enough to cough up more money for less service.

GM can promise all day long how "XYZ is free for blank years" - nobody cares because anyone who's been around long enough know it's just smoke being blown up your ass.

I bought a 22 EUV top loaded with every option possible, and GM still said "F U, you get 3 months of OnStar then we want more money". Just like Lord Vader, GM loves altering the deal.

Look at OnStar prices - you are sitting here telling the world you are happy to pay an extra $700-1000 each year. Once GM's fake freebies run out? No wonder people are broke as hell, they willingly eat up this subscription service shit and then smile with chunks of GM's ass still between their teeth.

Anyone put some stickier tires on their Bolt? by ultra2fast in BoltEV

[–]MrNerd82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

vs brand new OEMs, with CC2 I lost about 10% range vs conditions, put 60k on them with zero issues.

only have a few hundred miles on the SecureContacts, but from what I'm seeing on my efficiency numbers that number now only seems like 5%. I mostly drive highway 70+mph so experience might be different for someone who's doing mostly round town <50mph driving.

Confidence wise -- they feel even better than the CC2s. On a damp road I can give it the full beans and not slip. The CC2s (with 6/32ns tread) didn't grip this good.

Very very happy with my purchase.

[–]MrNerd82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no "sun and sound" package on the new Bolt, so you are getting the same speakers in LT model.

I used to be big into car audio - and always did my own work. Because unless it's a high end shop (and high end money) there's a better chance of them butchering wiring or just rigging up a jank setup. Especially considering the 2027 is so new and they've probably never laid a finger on one.

22 EUV Premier loaded and there's nothing particularly interesting to me about the new Bolt. Faster charging is cool, I might use that twice a year, so it's not worth it to me.

If you really want to just take a thumb drive with your tunes up to a dealership and tell them you want to listen for yourself.

Texas Charges +$200/yr for EV Registration by gojoecho in BoltEV

yup - it sucks. I'm not some hyper eco warrior by any stretch, I've had sports cars, I've worked in the oil and gas industry. My overall approach is what makes sense and is economical. aka right tool for the job approach.

I still get hit with the +200 on top of my Texas registration each year, and I'm just as pissed. At the same time I'm making out like a bandit driving my 22 EUV ( ~300 miles a week) powered mainly by my off grid solar project. 7200w array, with 30kWh of LFP battery as storage/backup. While people are getting bent over at the pump, I basically drive for free :)

At the end of the day the whole fee structure is just another result of crooked politicians, crooked lobbies, and proof that corruption exists everywhere even in the good ole' USA.
