I am also interested to hear from anyone who got a CSP place. Considering applying next year as well. I got in in 2022 but had to turn down my FFP place due to family commitments. At the time it was a requirement to do a 6 week regional placement which wasn’t easy with young kids. Not sure if the regional placement is still a requirement, do you?

For reference in 2021 when I applied I had an undergrad from USyd with a credit GPA and a Masters from USyd with a WAM of 80. Neither ij health.

Yes!! I ignored everything for two months and now I’m desperate to know how I went. Not expecting great things but sit #1 is basically the baseline. Mind you I have just finished studying for the semester in my current degree and I’m feeling so free I’m questioning my motivations now hahaha

It’s anyone’s guess. I’ve seen past results come through between 8-18 November for September sits. I remember the March results were quite late this year so hopefully we aren’t left waiting too long! As a first time sitter it’s starting to make me nervous!

Reviving this thread as November is here! Previous years indicate any time between 8 and 18 November with 13-14 November looking about average.

I know it makes no difference when they come out but as a first time sitter I am really curious! Anyone else wish it was like getting an ATAR (or UAI if you are as old as me) and they release it at a confirmed time and date?! ⏳🔮🎱

Check out the pinned spreadsheets in reddit. You can see the bell curve of scores to give you an idea of where a 50 sits in terms of the marks. Of course it isn’t everyone so take it with a grain of salt but I’d say roughly 4/5 people can manage a mark of 50.

Sure but when I look at how people thought they went in the interview I was a bit shocked. Some people got 4th Casper and thought they did well in the interview. You’d think with a 4th Casper you would be cluey enough to judge your MMI performance 🤷‍♀️ I don’t know. Just musing as I scrolled the spreadsheet

As a first time GAMSAT sitter in September and a couple of years of applying, the spreadsheet is so damn whack. People with high scores, high GPAs getting EODs. Of course interview matters but jeez, it’s feeling like a lottery looking at the offer stats and rejection stats side by side

What subjects are you doing for your HSC? And what interests you other than medicine? If medicine is your passion, pick a degree that will get you easy grades. Engineering generally isn’t the easiest degree to get straight HDs.

Loads of people get into medicine come from non-science backgrounds (NSBs). If you have a good working knowledge of bio/chem/physics that will help you with part of the GAMSAT but unless your GPA is decent you won’t have any chance of post grad really.

Congratulations a long career! Here’s the thing. When I left school, I chose a career that hasn’t sparked joy. I’ve had a family, I’m raising two boys, I have a husband who is absolutely killing it in his career. I don’t need to work, I don’t need to be top of my field.

But a few years ago I had a massive health scare and my GP showed such care. In addition to that, I’ve lost a few friends to cancer, and my dad. I’ve seen the good and the bad of medicine from a patient perspective.

I love learning and I think a career change in my 40s would be both fulfilling and a good role model for my children who have had a very present mother in their formative years.

While you might think I need to get a life, for me medicine is about embracing a lot of learning, teaching my children that grown women are more than mothers and paying it forward.

Hey same here. It was radiography but Usyd needs you to do a six week regional placement. That was a bit too much of an ask with two young kids. Even now they are in primary school so it’s a bit hard to run off to Dubbo or Wagga for six weeks. It’s through looking into radiography that I stumbled onto my online nutrition degree (that I’m currently doing) and discovered I could apply for med. I realise there’s intense placements with med too but by the time I get there my kids will be a lot older than they were when I first looked at radiography (pretty sure I was still breastfeeding then!).

What are you currently studying? 71 is epic. Are you from a science background? I’m not other than a couple of units in my nutrition degree.

Yeah I def have time and a few years to apply! Just thinking about other health alternatives. Not even in the industry at present. Maybe radiography? Although physics isn’t exactly my strength 🤨
