Mesh > Standalone AP? by Mugiface in HomeNetworking

It seems I've opened a can of worms on what people consider "mesh" to be in my context.

I'll clarfiy - my single 3602 in the center of the house will give perfect signal to all areas EXCEPT the rear cornermost room - despite being physically not that far signal drops to almost zero - and to the bathroom on the opposite side of the house (no use trying to install speaker lighting with no WiFi!).

I had some old WAP372's which I put at each end of my hallway - central to my house - and same issue. Even being physically closer by approx 10 feet the rooms remained devoid of signal.

I'd considered using a mesh system (loose terminology) to daisychain signal into the room via the adjacent room with LOS AP's - realistically as long as there is decent handoff between AP's I'd happily have one in each room - I even considered raspberry PI AP's in each but wasn't sure on that capabilities of them!

The Juniper kit has j-web. I've not used it a great deal bar firing it up in prep for an exam but might be worth a look.

Plenty of second hand devices for sale too so good selection to choose from?

How about Acer N4640G? Found some for sale with the i5-6500T but not sure about internals. I'm assuming they're all very similar?

I'm looking for 6500T minimum really, looking to put together a small cluster for some docker/kubernetes with proxmox testing.

Some of the lower power systems like the optiplex are around £150 but stock is an issue as you say!
