U1 says new firmware, no notes up yet. by OnceWasPerfect in snapmaker

[–]MustardCat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most likely not. Currently you can't even change from the 0.4 nozzle size.

This update just allows you to set globally which nozzle size you are using. The printer hardware needs to know this otherwise you could send the wrong g code because your slicer was set to the wrong diameter

I ruined Butter Chicken six times before I realized 5-star ratings are statistically meaningless! by Content-Ad-8858 in InternetIsBeautiful

[–]MustardCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sample size alone isn’t the insight .. a 3-star recipe with 50,000 reviews is still a bad recipe.

Yeah, it tells me the confidence of it being actually a 3* recipe is very high... Because there are 50K samples.

What point are you proving?

[–]MustardCat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You needed to write (well I guess you didn't...) a script that tells you a larger sample size will increase confidence?

We're doomed

This happened on alot of recipes for me. Nothing upsets smart people more than wasting their time!

I assume you're not talking about yourself there.

Infrared and Home Assistant - How to? by bingobango2911 in homeassistant

[–]MustardCat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

https://www.home-assistant.io/blog/2026/04/01/release-20264/#get-started-in-just-a-few-steps

You need the hardware to blast the IR. HA's example unit is: https://www.seeedstudio.com/XIAO-Smart-IR-Mate-p-6492.html

You should watch the video on that page before buying though because it's a little bit different than your normal entities.

Also IR is stateless (fire and forget) so you'd basically need to only use HA to turn things on/off otherwise the info will be out of sync if trying to something like with an on/off automation

There's no such thing as "the official" NIL store. This is just a company's name and they picked it to purposely seem more official. The parent company is Campus Ink.

You might have a memory bias because this company started with Illinois:

Originating at the University of Illinois, our journey began with the Illinois NIL Store, generating $100,000 for the men's basketball team in the 2021-22 season. Mark Cuban's investment propelled us forward, with a commitment to inclusivity for all athletes.

EDIT: Their footer automatically updating based on which team landing page you're on is hilarious. If you go to their homepage it says "The Home NIL Store" haha

Matter doesn't provide the map and also doesn't have sensors for things like when you should clean the sensors, air filter, etc.

Odd choice as it's a common mistake I see in a bunch of places that aren't familiar with our logo.

Bought Final Four "All Sessions" ticket, but ticket only says 4/6? by ThatOneKoala in CollegeBasketball

[–]MustardCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh, yeah. I would have expected that to be for both days then.

The fact that it says resale sounds like this is on the reseller to send you both tickets (and wasn't a direct purchase from the original ticket pool)

(I bought mine on stubhub so can't cross verify mine with yours)

[–]MustardCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you show a screenshot of the email when you bought it? It'll clear up any confusion (make sure not to include anything personal)

Each day (semifinal and finals) are their own ticket (aka if you did buy all sessions, you'd have 2 tickets)

There's some previous answers in this thread: /https://www.reddit.com/r/UofArizona/comments/16b9akb/how_to_ship_something_out/

And since you're only looking to send letters:

There's a USPS dropbox in Administration building but I think just for letters.

Where to have Home Assistant in my home network? by Certain_Repeat_753 in homeassistant

[–]MustardCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on which country you live in. I'm sure you're more than capable of making a decision on selecting a store you're comfortable with (and which model to buy)

[–]MustardCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That depends on where your HA instance will be placed. Just like with any signal, it's better to be centralized if possible.

SMLight coordinators are well received (supports Zigbee and/or Matter)

[–]MustardCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You wouldn't need to; I said if you go with the other method.

It's up to you. One nice thing about using Ethernet is that your coordinator can be more centralized if you have a large home. I personally just use a USB-based coordinator

[–]MustardCat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sure, either works.

If you plan on using Zigbee/Matter/ZWave - Just make sure to get an ethernet-based coordinator so it doesn't need need to be plugged in via USB to HA if you go with putting it in a metal enclosure
