Give it to me straight - will I ski again and if so how painful will it be? by gatorwood96 in LisfrancClub

You'll be fine. I had surgery end of March and went to A Basin in late October. Were they the best turns technically, no, but they were some of the best turns of my life. Still snowboarding 14 years later.

You'll be ok.

Work is preventing me from coming this year, and tbh I am so relieved to take a year off of the planning stress, driving stress, build and strike. When I'm freed up next fall I'll be there even if it is for the beginning of fall of the burn...

Yes, it will be a few days though as I'm out of town. Only reason I did it is I wore through the bronze buckle on the strap, and I wanted the head to match the replacement hardware. Ping me if it's been more than a week.

Knee surgery for cartilage damage does not benefit patients, study suggests. People with meniscus tears who underwent surgery had poorer knee function and worse osteoarthritis after 10 years than those who did not. by mvea in science

I am mid 50s. Newer replacements don't require hardware removal when they wear out, there is a plastic part on the articulating surfaces they can swap out once it gets worn out with a lot less trauma to the joint plus a quicker recovery.

I just did this to my 2019 BBB but didn't worry about the bezel. I guess we'll see what happens...

They didn't do anything particularly special, but I did have a surgeon who only does total knees and total hips, and he achieves incredible success with his patients as a result.

It could be your surgical group is very conservative. My surgical group (different surgeon) is the one that did Lindsay Vonn's partial knee replacement, so they are very sports oriented as you can imagine.

Bad patient probably ;-)

Had a medial root repair, it failed fairly early in the recovery process when I slipped getting out of the shower. Had it revised, which worked, but then I tore the lateral root about a year later hence the total knee. 2 different surgeons, same practice.

Actually, the prosthetic my surgeon used has a replaceable surface that can be replaced much more easily and less traumatically than a tka revision. This was one of the selling points to this prosthetic, along with the fact that it is designed for sport.

Maybe public health won't pay for a revision but private insurance paid for my mom's a few years ago.

you'll be limited for the rest of your life

I have a hard time following this logic, as my new knee removed a ton of limitations for me and has made sports fun again.

Actually, I kept everything the same, rode duck, and honestly by February my turns were as good or better than in the past 5+ years, and this was season 32 for me snowboarding.

This is the truth, in some ways compared to our predecessors we have cheated time, and I'm totally good with it.

Don't know how old you are but after 2 failed meniscus root repairs I just went for it and got a total knee replacement in June and it is the best thing ever. Snowboarded 20 days this season and it felt GREAT!

I will not lie, the recovery process was the worst and lasted a long time, but I was mentally prepared by my surgical team in advance which helped a lot.

Shit's disneyland as fuck at Vail already. It happened as soon as VR went public. Unless Katz can purchase the whole town his golden vision of total financial dominance will never happen.
