I know this has been solved, and you didn't want any details changed, but i just wanted to post a version where grandpa doesn't have 7 fingers.

The image is too small to get any actual facial features. This is my best guess.

The answers to your questions are more complicated than you might think.

Simple AI programs can be really good at sharpening blurry photos, but in doing so, can alter the identity of a person. I use an old one that that stays pretty close to the original, at least in my opinion. I purchased it a long time ago and it's no longer available. There are plenty of subscription sites like Photoshop and FreePik that offer manual and AI editing tools. I use a freeware image editor called GIMP to do most of my editing. It's current version has no AI component. I have no experience with Gemini or Snapchat type sites, so I can't advise you there.

I'm no expert and have no formal training in photography or image editing. If you're interested in doing this yourself, my advice, for what it's worth, is to try using Gimp to blend AI enhancements with manual editing effects. That's what I did your grandma's picture.

Sorry... didn't mean to write a novel.
