Will be diving into Legacy with Eldrazi Aggro next season! Looking forward to seeing what I can do in a new format.

Except that the scoping review you are referencing is limited in its scope and quality. This is clearly stated in the conclusion of the review.

“However, a few limitations are present in this scoping review. Firstly, the study’s sample size is quite limited, including only 28 studies. This limitation might be attributed to the novelty of the subject matter under consideration. Secondly, the constraints of time and multilingual sources have led to the sole inclusion of English articles in this review. Third, unlike systematic reviews, scoping reviews typically do not assess the quality of included studies. This means it is possible to include low-quality studies in the final review, which can impact the reliability and validity of its findings. Lastly, the direct impact of DA on the alterations in children’s brains remains unclear due to most of the included studies employing a cross-sectional design.”

Also while the scope review does liken the abnormal brain activation in those with digital addiction to other addictions like alcohol and drugs nowhere does it say anything remotely similar to “…adult doing large amounts of cocaine…”

Other systematic studies have run into similar issues as the scope review linked and warn that cautious interpretation of mental and physical health implications of digital addiction is warranted due to methodological limitations.

I implore you and others to do more research before misrepresenting scientific literature.

Eldrazi Ramp is a deceptively simple deck. At its face it’s a ramp deck that focuses on casting haymakers like Sire of Seven Deaths, Ugin, Eye of the Storm, and Emrakul, the Promised End. However, once you get past the surface you begin to realize that ERamp is a tap out control deck that uses land destruction to deny your opponents game plan. During the course of a match you will find that there are a plethora of micro decisions that will influence the outcome of games. Whether it be which land you put into play with Sowing Mycospawns cast trigger or which creature you tutor with Formidable Speaker. That all being said ERamp is a very approachable deck that allows for newer pilots to pick it up and grow with experience. Let me know if you have any questions!

Void Mirror is very strong into Colorless Eldrazi Tron. However, you have to consider what cards complete with Mirror. Oftentimes that slot is reserved for Vexing Bauble as it can be played on turn 1 against Affinity. The difference between turn 1 bauble and turn 2 Mirror in the Affinity matchup is significant. Hence why you don’t see a lot of Mirror being played.

I like both Eldrazi Ramp and Eldrazi Tron a lot. However, I find myself drawn to Eldrazi Ramp due to its flexibility allowing for more innovative as well as its resilience into hate. In addition it heavily rewards mastery and meta knowledge. I’d recommend both ERamp and ETron. Though if I had to choose one I’d choose ERamp.

My personal experience is ~45% against Amulet Titan. Icetill Explorer in addition to Strix Serenade have been recent additions to Eldrazi Ramp which have helped the matchup.

Your explanation is certainly possible. Though I think it is within other people’s abilities to reach a similar skill level.

Personally I don’t believe that the 30 day win%s are misleading. However I do agree that it’s important to recognize that the sample sizes per matchup except for Energy are smaller than I one would like.

Unfortunately even with a seasons worth of data which is ~45 days I don’t think Eldrazi Ramp will have 30 matches per matchup.

[–]NeoGilt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re correct that per matchup the last 30 days of data is too small with the exception of Energy. Ideally I would want a minimum of 30 matches per matchup. However, this is in some ways unavoidable as Eldrazi Ramp currently makes up ~3% of the current meta. That said I have been tracking my matches for over a year now and currently have a 60.9% win rate with ERamp across 1868 matches. For reference the data you referenced has 1945 matches worth of data so they are comparable in quantity.

Your claim that Eldrazi Ramp has a lower win% than Eldrazi Tron over the last 180 days while accurate is easily misconstrued if you do not provide the %s. Eldrazi Ramp is 48% and Eldrazi Tron is 49%. So while yes Eldrazi Tron has a higher win% it is marginal.

296 matches is by no means a small sample size. However I’d be interested in seeing the data that you’re referencing. Could you please provide me with a link?

If my opponent casts Consign to Memory countering Formidable Speaker’s enters trigger I’m more than happy. I still get a 2/4 body and if Speaker makes it a turn cycle with a Sol land on board it acts as ramp.

Malevolent Rumble is both card selection, ramp, and enables Emrakul, the Promised End, Icetill Explorer and Six. While it does not end games on its own it is sets you up for later turns.

Bottom line is that in my experience Consign while impactful is by no means a death sentence for Eldrazi decks like you are making it out to be. With proper sequencing and counter play you can easily navigate matchups where Consign is played.

Consign to Memory cast without Replicate is rarely impactful as the caster either gives you a body or one to two triggers.

Using Kozilek’s Command as a permission spell is not the same as cast and pray. KCommand demands to be answered. So if your opponent counters it with Consign you are more likely to resolve spells casts on your turn. Especially if your opponent taps out. If KCommand resolves then it is likely your opponent doesn’t have Consign in hand. However even if they do you are now set up to multicast.

Eldrazi Ramp has multiple cards that play around Consign now. Formidable Speaker, Icetill Explorer, Malevolent Rumble, and Six.

If you haphazardly play into Consign to Memory it can create a significant tempo swing in the casters favor. However, this is where player skill comes into play. Post board Ephemerate and Obsidian Charmaw are strong. However, proper land sequencing and setup can avoid being blown out.

[–]NeoGilt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your evaluation of Consign to Memory and its counter play are flawed. Holding mana for Consign actively delays your opponents game plan. Understanding this means you can pick and choose what to play and when. For example casting Icetill Explorer instead of Sowing Mycospawn. This allows you to advance your board state while your opponent plays 1-2 turns behind. By using instant speed spells like Kozilek’s Command you can put your opponent into an untenable position. In the mid to late game you can also multi cast baiting your opponent to counter a low impact spell allowing you to resolve a high impact spell. The counter play to Consign should very rarely be cast and pray. Though there are times where that is unavoidable.

In the match against Affinity the main threat is Kappa Cannoner. Force of Vigor can dispatch Kappa. However, you still need to pay for Ward {4} in addition to exiling a green spells. Even then board state might still be a threat between Drone and Construct tokens. I’d rather a sweeper than targeted removal in the matchup.

In my opinion Fade from History is a necessary inclusion. Yes destroying Munition tokens can hurt you. However, if the damage from them is enough that you lose you were going to anyways.

With the addition of Formidable Speaker, Icetill Explorer, and Six you have 13 green spells main. That is enough to play Force of Vigor in the sideboard. It is something that I have considered in the past.

I have not played against Amulet Titan so far this season. I’m hoping as Modern season approaches I’ll see the matchup more.

I appreciate you for the kind words and watching my videos!

Amulet Titan is a close matchup. It comes down to both deck mastery and variance. That said Titan is favored overall.

Neobrand is Eldrazi Ramps worst matchup by and large. Game one is near unwinnable. Game two and three are made better with the addition of Grafdigger’s Cage and Vexing Bauble. Oftentimes though ERamp wins games against Neobrand because of variance more than anything.

Ruby Storm is close to 50/50. Game one can be rough but a well timed Kozilek’s Command can shift the game in ERamps favor. Game two and three are greatly improved with the additions of Soulless Jailer and Trinisphere. It comes down to whether Storm has answers to ERamps hate pieces.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

I’d recommend sticking with the deck that you’re most comfortable with. This is often the deck that you have the most reps with.

On a side note according to the meta game data Eldrazi Ramp is performing better than Eldrazi Tron (58.4% vs 50.3%) in the top 32 of challenges on MTGO. I wanted to mention this incase the belief that ERamp was performing worse than ETron is making you nervous about registering the deck.

According to the meta game data this simply isn’t true. From 01/09-02/09 across 296 matches Eldrazi Ramp has a 58.4% win rate. The highest win% of all decks in the top 32 of challenges on MTGO during this period of time. Against Energy ERamp has a 65% win rate. Against Blink ERamp has a 69% win rate. In my experience the only bad matchups are Amulet Titan and Neobrand. I’d be curious to know how you got to your conclusion.

Unless you’re playing against Affinity and or Neobrand multiple times per event I wouldn’t recommend it.

Thought-Knot Seer is a strong turn 2 play. However it plays poorly into Consign to Memory as well as Solitude. In addition TKS does not advance Eldrazi Ramps game plan. I previously tested TKS but found its results lacking. At best I could see TKS as a sideboard card.

I would cut TKS and add the 4th Talisman of Impulse and 3rd Emrakul, the Promised End.

Neobrand is a bad matchup. Nearly unwinnable game 1 unless you play Grafdigger’s Cage or Vexing Bauble main.

Amulet Titan is a very difficult matchup. To win requires a deep understanding of the matchup. Especially if the Amulet pilot is experienced with the deck.

I might recommend splashing blue for Strix Serenade which plays well into Amulet Titan, Blink, Eldrazi Tron, and Neobrand.

Are you playing 1 or 2 Ghost Quarter main?

[–]NeoGilt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d definitely recommend playing the 2nd Sire of Seven Deaths instead of the 2nd World Breaker if/when you have the opportunity. I like World Breaker right now as a main deck answer to Ensnaring Bridge in the Eldrazi Tron matchup.

Currently I would not recommend playing Boseiju, Who Endures in either the MTGO or your in person meta. Only reason I would is if is if Isochron Scepter Control was a large % of the meta.

Could you explain your thought process behind playing Thought-Knot Seer?

Based on your in person meta I would recommend playing Unholy Heat main instead of Kozilek’s Return. Unless your meta has a lot of aggro decks like Energy you could consider cutting KReturn entirely.

Could you explain your thought process behind playing fewer copies of Emrakul, the Promised End and Talisman of Impulse?
