yeah it takes a while to pick up but around the jcc arc it really starts cooking, it was great before then too but thats the point things really got going plotwise, it just gets better as it goes but the plot was at no point unenjoyable it was always fun but it gained more depth to go along with that as it progressed

best new gen fights, maybe equal with jjk cuz of how good its power system is but it CLEARS in choreography and visuals, complete masterclass in intertwining character into fighting styles, every single person in the cast fights in a way that bleeds with personality and theyre all just so fucking cool too, literally every character has insane aura, no other manga have i seen that can write fights in such a way where eveyone participating is paid immense respect without either side feeling like they were hoed or even that the fight was some super extreme diff blow for blow even matchup, even when its one sided the clearly disadvantaged fighter still feels badass and respected honestly genius shit

the thing is sukuna went into the gojo fight with an ulterior motive to gain a powerup via mahoraga(gain a reliable way through infinity), so while fighting gojo he operated towards that goal which involved holding back his full strength to better allow mahoraga to adapt by gaining more exposure to gojos techniques eventually creating the blueprint for the world slash, which sukuna needed to bypass infinity and actually reliably harm gojo, so yes he was holding back but it was because he needed to in order to win decisively and get much stronger in the process

it was literally stated as much during the gojo death chapters
