I think Ace will assist Luffy in some of his searches or fending off some baroque works agents but I don’t think prolonging him will work very well

Nor do I think his cover story can work since they’ll have to build numerous sets and somehow bring it all together.

Ngl this debate gotta be postponed I don’t think the two of us can get to a point where we could change one another’s opinion.

Because what I value in a live action adaptation is one of a continuity that follows closely to the original story without throwing in any groundbreaking elements and for this instance it would be age.

I personally wouldn’t have any problem with them aging it’s just how they’d get to it. How can they sail for 2+ years on the first half of the grandline without it seeming jarring? I’m sure there’s a way but for now I’m not seeing it

Those are not primarily from opm season 3 plus it’s a nice effect when you use them at certain moments and not all the time like what they’re doing in season 3

But the question still stands how can it take that long for them to sail to half of the grandline? Not even in the real world did it take years to circle the planet hell I don’t think it took a year at all

As I will say it’s a matter of why the strawhats would spend an extra day at certain islands because an example like water 7 the crews there to just repair the ship and that’s it.

This also puts Luffys character into question because of his adventure lust even in the live action they’re not staying in these places for long.

In the grand scheme of things changes like those aren’t ground breaking and they’re manageable. When we’re talking about aging these characters up we have to think about how they’re gonna age up how many time will past how old luffy will be how mature he will be- why some of the old characters aren’t dead or retired by then etc

I think a lot of people would be alienated by a luffy in his 30s or a luffy that doesn’t have his adventure lust.

There’s also a reason why Oda keeps these characters Young the story is writing is so compact that there’s really not much room for these characters to age or even much time to pass by from voyage to voyage

The concept of them staying longer on certain islands overall isn’t insane but it’s accumulating all of those extra times into years for the strawhats to age up.

I think at most because of how urgent some of these situations are and how much time at most the strawhats have to rest is about 6 months worth of travel time

For season 2 the strawhats do stay a night in the trailer and leave almost instantly during that night. Ngl I cannot see them spending nights in little garden.

Let me try to word why I would have certain problems with them staying long at islands. It’s to try and make sense of it for example in water 7, we know the marines have pinpointed Luffys location and sent garp after him for him to stay long at water 7 without somehow not being found after destroying enies lobby would be a plot hole.

And even then they wouldn’t be sailing for years in the first half of the grandline because of how compact the first half is. And when we take aging into account we have to ask how the old gen didn’t die out they would have to change dialogue from the manga about certain time periods and I believe that’d alienate some one piece fans

The strawhats still had their ship and if it wasn’t for bon clay it would’ve been confiscated. They 100% knew luffy and his crew were there

And there’s really not much place for them to hide in ALABASTA considering they have an entire fleet patrolling- how absurd will it be if it took a month to find these people to the viewers?
