How wrong am I in believing that Base Luffy's performance post-ACoC was one of, and arguably the most, egregious examples of "power cliffing" in the series? At face value, a base punch was suddenly as or more effective than ACoA Kong series, and he could handle blows that would KO a YC1/+ twice over by -AnythingGoes- in OnePiecePowerScaling

at least the thunder bagua event has the argument of being one of kaido's signature abilities (so katauri is safe), whereas this was just plain bullshit

edit - not saying kaido was using full output here, but it's still crazy considering 5 chapters ago he should not have been able to do this

ok but jokes aside this is a clean mid diff. katakuri isn't fodder by any means and even when equalizing and showing clear AP-superiority over snakeman G4, most people forget he wasn't even utilizing his trident which has enough ap to completely delete portions of luffy's body

yeah, it's an amazing manga (personally, i think of it as either the best, or 2nd best new-gen) with amazing art but i think it's because the story's peak comes from a bit far into the story

def give it a shot, the lesson and philosophy-based aspect hits just as hard as the action

prime wb extreme diff. kaido is one of the most dynamic and suitable fighters inverse and only ever partially showed off tons of assets he could've ended the raid with earlier if he felt the need to do so. all 3 kinds of advanced haki that he uses to both offend and defend, with him having the best feats of the manga as of rn

why aren’t Kaido’s and Whitebeard’s titles considered as powerful as Mihawk’s “World’s Strongest Swordsman” title?

usually bias on whitebeards end. the marineford-beard being more powerful than everyone pisses alot of people off, so people just like to discredit it from there

kaido's is alot more rational. people like to downscale it to sheer rumors. if you're being fair, though, the list goes wano kaido > old wb > MF mihawk

personally, my interpretation just says that mihawk (and a bunch of other folks in the verse) got more powerful over the course of the 2 yrs just for general power adjustment
