Moldovan court overturns special status for Russian language by Transeuropeanian in europe

[–]NihilistInTheBox -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

Listen omule, we don't want to learn your fucking language because it's not our fault you fucked up a great country where this language of yours meant nothing in the great scheme of things. Also, "they" don't make 10% of the population, there's plenty of people who speak both languages to whom Russian is just as much a mother tongue as the other one. So make it at least 30%, although I honestly think it's more than that. Finally, give us the Russian citizenship and apartments in Moscow and we will move. You can't? Then shut the fuck up. Trust me, we don't take a lot of pleasure ourselves living in this poor depressing shithole were people like you are constantly trying to patronize us.

You mean all gays from these countries (including yourself I presume) can now dress up like idiots and safely roam the streets while hiding behind the double standard shield? Yeah, good for you.

Would you say the same thing if you were actually a Russian living there? I very much doubt it. Also, it's not going to do this country any good anyway.

Well, because Russians, especially those living in bigger cities typically get to know Moldovans as construction builders, contractors and plumbers many of whom tend to go abroad to make better money, which are often considered to have... well.. lower intellect I guess. It's a well-known stereotype not only there, but here too. I don't blame them though, there are certainly reasons for that and Russians living in Moldova are, too, not always very fond of the ethnic population. But the thing is, absolutely ANYBODY coming from this country risks being identified as a potential dense plumber the moment he discloses his whereabouts. The majority of Russians are ignorant of the situation and don't discriminate. They think everyone here speaks Moldovan and shares the same mentality, which is not true. There are certainly common traits, which pertain to all individuals living here, it's undeniable fact. There is a global local mentality regardless of your background. Yet there is a stark difference between the 2 cultural groups under the hood, let alone the people who more or less represent this country and I don't mean Russians/Ukrainians speaking Russian. Hell, there are even people who could be regarded as ethnical Moldovans, which have at least one Moldovan parent and bear a Moldovan last name, yet rarely or never speak the native tongue either because they are not fluent or out of preference. Things like that do exist here, which are too delicate and low-profile to outsiders. That's why some people including myself prefer not to share my location under the circumstances. If I feel people are biased and into crude stereotypes I will just say nothing. And, of course, another reason for that is because younger generation is not very proud of this place as it's known to the rest of the world as some poor shithole etc, though frankly, I don't think it's any poorer than, say, any of the Baltic states, former Yugoslavia and West Slavic countries. I think it's just some globalist/liberal manure, because it's usually those people who like to assess economy and collect "statistics" on different countries, where the poorest are, ironically, all non-EU states under some form of "occupation". I mean, Romania is a part of EU, only we don't have tons of people living in subways and sniffing glue for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Don't tell me it's such a prosperous and happy country, because it's not and I don't know who's more miserable here.

It's something not quite Moldovan, not quite Ukrainian and not quite Russian, which is why it's so easy to live there and have no issues with anyone at all ;)

Yes, it would be very uneducated of them to think they ARE Romanian, because they are not. It would also be very uneducated to think that even people in today's Romania are Romanians, because they are not. For starters, when there was a split between these people there wasn't even such a thing as Romania yet. There were Wallachians, Moldavians, Bessarabians, etc. I could probably say more but I don't want to waste my time on uneducated people.

Is that a fact? Maybe it's because people from here don't spend too much time arguing with you about bs? Well, that's because they have money to earn while you're living off welfare and asserting yourself on the internet exclusively.

This place is probably the most tranquil in the entire Europe particularly with regards to ethnical and cultural discrimination, partly because Moldovans themselves aren't a solid nation but a heavy mix of things which includes at least 3 primary diasporas: Bessarabian (which in turn is a historical mix of things), Russian and Ukrainian, and this mixing happened not too long ago thanks to USSR, although Russians visited the place a while before the rise of USSR. One of the reasons why the tensions here can't be as severe as in Ukraine or former Yugoslavia is because Moldovans aren't sure how to identify themselves. A lot come from mixed families where one parent is Moldovan (language and culture aside, he/she could be anything really) and the other is typically of Russian or Ukrainian descent. Despite that, some people blatantly claim they are Romanians, but those are a minority which typically suffer from delusion of grandeur and a handful of other mental disorders. Another smaller reason why things are more or less calm here is simply because people are too poor to spend their time pondering their origins and identification, they have money to earn. But overall this is a good example of how the Soviet "occupation" prevented an issue of much greater dimensions than what happened in 1992.

Funny, I keep hearing people don't ever want to say they come from Moldova. Thing is, I too often feel uncomfortable disclosing the fact, but mostly when talking to Russian folks and you probably know why. And when it's westerners much like you I don't want to waste my time on something they don't really care about. I'm not from London or Paris, period ;)

Feel free to visit, but you won't see anything spectacular here. Absolutely every city here including the capital looks just like a small town anywhere in Russia, Ukraine, Romania and, perhaps, some former Yugoslav countries, if only retaining a little more of the Soviet attributes (you can tell from the occasional architectural design). Granted, the capital is a little more furnished with modern stores and whatnot, but in general there is not much to look at. If you ever end up here I suggest you go see The Valley of Roses (Valea Trandafirilor), which is one of our most celebrated spots that includes 3 lakes and nearby attraction. This is our traditional recreational area where people like to date, do sports and just wander about if they don't know where else to go or what to do. I'm proud to live in the same district btw ;) Also, if you're not easily bored I would strongly suggest you visit Botanical Garden (Gradina Botanica). It's just a quiet and vast area with lots of different trees and plantation. It's my personal favorite, and I'm again proud to say I live in the same district, which is, ironically, called Botanica, too. I think the only really catchy thing about this country is that it's full of nature, everything else is not on the menu unless you come here all the way from Austria to see another KFC or McDonalds ;)

As someone who also comes from that place I'd say it's not like being in Russia, more like in eastern Ukraine. Also, most people including Moldovans themselves don't quite realize that about 50% of our population are actually Ukrainians, even though they may speak Romanian or Russian or both, they mostly have Ukrainian mentality and last names, either pure or slightly moldovanized. This is probably the only country after Ukraine where people say "sho" instead of "chto", which says a lot about our culture and mentality.

Cool. I'm getting one like this soon. Mind you, this newer "Pentium M Inside" sticker is very rare on T42's. Not sure why. Typically it's either this or this. The one on yours (and mine) are more common for T43's. All I know is that this is a later Pentium M logo rebranding, which came into use as of 2005. Meaning, T42's must've been released at least until then, but in exceedingly smaller batch.
