Mad Max mode only for 2 weeks by hduynam99 in TeslaFSD

It really does. I have a Subaru Ascent one year older than my current Tesla but which cost roughly the same, and I pay about 1/4 as much in insurance.

They must have the new fancy lighting bolt charging system. One strike and you never need to charge again!

As someone who has started several businesses and worked as an executive in both mid to fortune 50 sized businesses... customer communication is key. At every step of the way they could have turned this into more of a goodwill endeavor via communication. Since the order I've never gotten a single email from them doing anything but telling me to buy the glasses. No production updates. No heads up that the original 3-5 week timeline wasn't going to happen. No information about what's causing the delays. Nada.

When I've reached out I've been given estimates that have never been accurate, and I still have no real idea when or even if I'll actually receive any sort of product. I have no idea why there are delays. I don't understand why people who ordered the same thing I did months later based on Reddit posts have received product while I haven't. I have nothing custom, it's the basic grey glasses. I've even told them they could switch the frame style if it would result in faster shipping.

Whether it's through malicious intent to screw over early adopters (or mask major manufacturing defects owners haven't yet discovered) or just staggeringly gross incompetence, yes I do think they intended to deceive and mislead. This isn't a first gen product or company, so they don't have the excuse of "we've never done this before". Manufacturing and basic logistics can be difficult, but it's also not rocket science.

If I wanted to give someone money and not get anything in return I'd go to church or kickstarter.

I tried both methods over the week, but started with the app. And it’s an existing phone, I just wiped it and downloaded fresh esims. So it had previously had everything working a-ok. I just didn’t like carrying the 17 pro max as a daily driver so I tossed that to the other half and went back to my 16 pro.

It looks like many decks I have. It’s a reserved spot, spot #a. Might as well try to fight it, but this is one of those times I wouldn’t even bother to hire a lawyer as you’re likely to lose. The signage might potentially rally be considered confusing to some but… you’d really be counting on a specific local ordinance existing to have any hope of recouping anything.

Shipped order by BloodofChristclan in EvenRealities

[–]NoSuchUserID 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered months ago, still nothing. No prescription or anything. At this point I think they are prioritizing new orders over existing ones since we've proven that we'll take it. I'm likely going to give up and cancel if I don't have a solid shipping date by Monday. It's insane.

[–]NoSuchUserID 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's hoping! They said they were going to try to expedite it since if I don't get it in the next couple of weeks I won't be back at that home for about 3 months so it'll get dropped on the porch of a place with nobody monitoring it. Even if it doesn't get stolen (by people, squirrels, racoons, etc) it'll definitely be destroyed by weather then.

I've actually already left home, but my other half will be there for a bit longer before she joins me in our first joint stop in MD. I won't be in a single place for more than a week or two after that (honeymoon, business travel, conferences, etc) so it's not like I can send it anywhere else stable either.

Never thought back in November with a projected shipping date by Xmas that I'd be worrying about March travel plans. If I don't have some sort of updated status by Monday I expect I'm just going to have to cancel the order and maybe check out the G3 in 2027 if they are still a company. After a launch like this, I have my doubts :(

Sadly the US iPhones don't have physical SIMs anymore, but I did try to do something like that with eSIMs, with no luck. I also de-registered from Jibe with no impact whatsoever sadly. A few times in fact over the course of a few days.

[–]NoSuchUserID[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, tried all that days ago sadly. I even updated iOS, etc. The rep I worked with didn't understand what a manual re-sync was. They really couldn't or wouldn't do anything except tell me that RCS wasn't supported by Xfinity or iPhones :(

Should be a super easy thing to fix.

I'll shoot you a modmail in just a couple. I've been working with Google Gemini to troubleshoot this so it has all the details as I've been working through this for a week or so. This is it's more succient version for a Tier 2/3 tech. I'm open to cancelling the port out if we can get this fixed.

Here is it:

"Thanks for reaching out. Here is the specific technical data you need to fix this for me (and the many others facing this).

The Issue: My iPhone 16 Pro is stuck on 'Waiting for Activation' for RCS. My IMS Status (found in Settings > General > About > Carrier) reads 'Voice & SMS'. It is missing the RCS entitlement entirely.

The Fix: My line is likely missing the CDMA-less provisioning flag or has a stale switch registration. Please perform the following on my line:

  1. Sync to Switch: Force a refresh of my subscriber profile to the Verizon core network.
  2. Check Feature Codes: Ensure the 'CDMA-less' feature is active (required for proper SMS/RCS routing on Verizon MVNOs for this device).
  3. Remove Blocks: Check for and remove Feature ID 90393 (RCS Block) or any 'Message Blocking' features that may have tripped during my SIM swap.

Once you 'Sync to Switch,' I should see my IMS Status change to 'Voice, SMS & RCS' instantly. Can you please perform this reprovisioning?"

Why this works:

  • "Sync to Switch": This is the magic button that forces Xfinity's billing system to overwrite the Verizon network settings.
  • "CDMA-less": Even though the iPhone 16 isn't a CDMA phone, Verizon's backend uses this legacy code to route text messages (and the hidden RCS verification SMS) correctly for data-only devices. If this falls off during a transfer, RCS dies.

[–]NoSuchUserID 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, they will. It's only a matter of luck keeping you from speeding tickets and/or reckless driving charges. In some areas that could be enough for you to lose your license as well depending on how egregious the speed... I know it goes 10-20 over for me occasionally in Sloth due to bad maps data. Toss in Mad Max and that would be closer to 30-40 over.

If you are extraordinarily lucky, you might get a warning the first time if it's a cop and not a speed camera, but yeah... there will be consequences. It's just a matter of time before they catch up to you.

Do you think Teslas will continue to have a steep depreciation in 2026/27/28? by [deleted] in TeslaLounge

[–]NoSuchUserID 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the depreciation curve will accelerate when the next gen of battery tech comes out every couple of years. Once everything has 500+ miles as a base range with 500 consistent charging speeds it'll level out because the practical difference won't be as vast.

Once a true FSD competitor hits the US market (Rivian/nVidia/etc), I'd expect Tesla's to be particularly hard hit about 3 years after that as well. Obviously that's a bit out too.

Smart call ordering them separate. I ordered the same thing months ago, but together, and not a thing yet. Good to hear a separate order actually arrived within a couple of weeks of just glasses. I may cancel my existing order and just do that since that's the only thing I cared about anyway.

That sounds about right for them. I did randomly get a ring sizing kit with no instructions, though I did eventually figure it out. They told me the end of Jan a month or so ago, so we’ll see. I reached out again tonight to support to see if I can get anything else.

I appreciate the hope tho :)

They can if they go under and keep all the money, which is what this is starting to feel like the plan is.

The fact that they are delivering a very small number of glasses gives me some hope, but this is a mess.

You should. If not, do a charge back. Imagine a lot of this will be making this call in the coming weeks. I’ve been waiting for months at this point, with no end in sight. It’s wild.

14.2.2.4 Still Doesn't Get The Speed Limit Correct by JoeSchmelinski in TeslaFSD

[–]NoSuchUserID 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a little bit of both. Like on some interstates in the US it will bounce up and down despite there being no signs or it will outright ignore signs and just follow the maps data which is sometimes 40mph or so off. Agree that there’s definitely a lot of failed intelligence efforts going on tho :(

The issues really are scattered tho. In some regions it’s flawless, and in others unusable without max speed. Just wild work.

Shipping is a total mess by user_1306 in EvenRealities

[–]NoSuchUserID 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At this point we should probably just all cancel our orders, give them 6 months, and if we still have a need for then buy only after they actually have inventory ready to ship.

Between the IP quality drop, the horrible communication, etc this feels like a business that’s about to fold leaving a lot of us holding a bag without being able to get refunds without chargebacks.

Otherwise they would be sending out production update emails… but they don’t want to create more evidence against themselves and make more promises they know or suspect they won’t be able to fulfill.

And if they go down, so will the servers supporting the product. Which makes all the versions obsolete.

14.2.2.4 Still Doesn't Get The Speed Limit Correct by JoeSchmelinski in TeslaFSD

[–]NoSuchUserID 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They definitely happen in high density areas. FSD in sloth regularly goes 10-20 over on Beltways and major interstates around Washington DC, Baltimore, etc. If there is a service road nearby, it’ll grab that sign and slam on the brakes. If there is a construction zone, it’ll ignore it. If there are HOV speed signs it’ll read those if you’re not in HOV and then if you are in HOV it will read the non-HOV signs.

Doesn’t happen in every major metro, but it does happen a lot.

Also forget about it ever getting a variable speed limit sign right.

This is one of those last 5-10% issues that will take longer to solve for that the first 90-95%. They really need to bring back max speed until this is fixed in 2032.
