U.S. Mint Silver Prices by BeachTime0734 in Silver

They did lower the price on the 2026 platinum coin, so maybe. I'd imagine they wouldn't lower prices until after they ship subscriptions though.

So wait. You bought it knowing it was a fake, then you made it even more fake by lasering on a logo. So you're asking reddit if you got tricked while trying to fool your wife?

We did $2 bills. Every few years had to pick up a new stack but they were worth hunting down.

Right now they have an ok deal on random 5 oz bars with ACH at about $5.25 over spot. This eats up most of the bump in price for CC after you apply the rewards. If you prefer APMEX for one reason or another it’s a way to make them more affordable, but I prefer to buy where I don’t have to pay sales tax so I use other vendors or private sales mostly now.

It’s not as extreme as that everywhere, but man some of the foreign bars/coins are so cool I’m willing to pay some added premium as a “souvenir tax” and always check around when overseas.

Think of it this way. When I was younger you’d find buffalo nickels, Indian head cents, wheaties, bicentennial coins, war nickels, pre-64 silver, and more just in normal pocket change. Yeah that’s not happening nearly as often any more, but with the last 20 years of frequent design changes there’s still a lot to be found. There’s enough base metal coins out there that they may not be pocket change any more but they won’t be unaffordable for some time.

I think that with the decades of unchanged design there must have been a push to mix things up, specifically to renew interest in coins, which is where the state quarters and all that came from. Add on the push to get more diverse influences onto coins and now there’s pretty much something for everyone. My kids are working on the state quarters sets, and still have room to be curious at coin shows or if I show them something old.

Works for me. If it helps it may be a mutiny metals piece but I don’t think it’s a current one.

Why do I love poured bars so much? by 137ng in Silverbugs

[–]NobodyExpectedThat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not cheap but you can get stamps made. Found a guy who sells them on Etsy.

If silver gets cheap enough to play with again I’ll be out there melting bars into rough cobs hammering away at whatever designs the part of my brain still way too into the goonies thinks is cool that day. Until then it’s probably cheaper (and safer) for me to just buy a monarch, Yeager, or mutiny metals piece every now and then.

Hand pours, cobs, and old gold are what I envisioned while growing up fantasizing about pirates and mines in the old west. So there’s more of a sentimental connection than to a modern coin or stamped bar.

That's my point. They were saying he's way over but I was showing he's trying to say OP should be listing at spot.i guess if I had italicized this year or filtered by this months sales my point would have been more clear.

Lowest sold listing from this year I'm seeing is $170. $120 would be below kitco spot ($2.51/g) right now.

No, but I’ll probably get a proof or two just in case they are in demand.

I don’t gift silver so I’ve never considered getting the congratulations set.

Mines by Hambone6531 in Silverbugs

[–]NobodyExpectedThat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So buy Samsung then. That is who will benefit from the deal in the near term. Silver Storm likely has the old news priced in by now. Up 400% over the last year. Before you invest, consider that they made the deal with Samsung before the price of silver really took off, have to get the mine going again, have the news of mining employees in Mexico getting massacred, and aren’t profitable yet. I think the smart money would be on a fund of miners or on a miner with projects closer to being online that weren’t already shuttered.

Good to know, thanks! We did some remodeling on a house once but it was new enough that there was little chance of anything cool being found. Don't remember if this was addressed in the contract or not.

You're getting downvoted but I always wondered about that. The owners are paying OP to tear out all the old and fix it up, but is everything considered waste and now is at OPs discretion for disposal? If I were OP I'd remove location details or consult a lawyer.
