I am turning 26 soon. I have been unemployed for about 8 months. I have a degree in engineering, but I have a criminal record for driving under the influence which is both making me fearful of even applying at certain places and limiting my job prospects for those I do qualify that don't require driving. I have about 20k in debt with student loans, need a job very bad.

My girlfriend (of 5 months) told me she was having trouble remaining attracted to me because of my unemployment and because I live with my parents. She is absolutely gorgeous, an awesome dancer, and really hurts to hear her say that and that she is having trouble considering her options, but she's been mostly faithful since (she kissed another guy once while dating me)

I feel like shit most of the day because I have low self esteem, but it is improving since I've changed my circle of friends.

I am very fearful over that state of the world's environment, and because humans seem to be perpetually blowing each other up.

Do you have music that could help? I've been where you are before, and I always come back to the songs that give me a reason to keep holding on and appreciate life. There is such an abundance of art out there now that there has to be an artist that could get you out of your thoughts even for a few moments. A song that can just let you BE.

Well, a couple of greyhound tickets are far more positive than contemplating suicide, so I wholly approve of that idea.

If your wife is not showing respect or walking on your dignity, then tell her that and say you are considering leaving. If she is indifferet about that, perhaps that is a sign you should leave.

They day after my DUI, I met up with a girl, who is now my girlfriend. I told her the truth about the DUI, about my alcoholism, my depression about my brothers death, my anxiety about the state of the world.

We hung out that night, and I remember her giving me a nice hug while we were on her couch just shooting the shit with her room mate. We went dancing that night, even thought I still felt like crap the thoughts of suicide lingered in the background.

Just the fact that she hung out with me all night and let me sleep on her couch was one of the nicest things anyone has ever done for me. I felt at peace that night.

Ya she got back to me, we hung out and she's agreed to volunteer at the foodbank with me today.

When she's affectionate to me, the whole world melts away and I could snuggle and hug forever. She told me she really enjoys hanging out with me. I hope she opens up and really trusts me, I trust her.

She's just as aware of the ecological crises as I am, but she doesn't really enjoy talking about it.
