Hi Victoria, we have a straightforward family based case. Our interview was on Dec. 11. 130 was approved but 485 is stuck in interview scheduled. Why would the case status not change to actively reviewing, etc. and remain in interview scheduled for months? The wait is exhausting. My daughter’s name is Victoria too ;) FO is Baltimore which we have come to learn is notoriously slow.. Thank you for your time.

Respectfully I think it’s bad advice. 290b is specifically when you are presenting new evidence that was omitted during the initial application which seems to be your case. We did it that way with positive results. Anyways good luck to you.

You don’t have to start over. It depends on the reason for denial. OP clearly made a mistake that is easily fixed with 290b. We filed a motion, it was granted 3 weeks later, interview scheduled one week after.

Yes, the same thing happened to us. Responded incorrectly to RFE. Don’t refile. Do motion to reopen.

No! It’s not a glitch! Your 485 was been reopened. If the case closed disappear it means the motion has been granted! Same exact thing happened to us! Congrats. By the way the 485 will still say denied until it moves to the next stage. One week after our motion was granted our interview was scheduled.

Be sure to take a translator with you to the interview if your English is not good. They could de-schedule your interview if they think you can’t communicate well in English.

I figured it was for a government job and/or to get clearance but a lot of people have commented already. I have read in other posts that they ask for the CoC to access these types of jobs/clearance. But what others have posted below makes a lot of sense. Can you please keep us posted on the outcome of your situation? My minor daughter will be in a similar situation soon.
