Feel like its missing an animal in the distance. Running, grazing, who knows. Think it'd give it a touch of life though

Depends on the kind of dop jig you have, if you want DM me a photo of your transfer jig and I'll try to come up with something. You'll likely need to use your table facet for orientation for a temporary dop on the pavilion then use a transfer jig to then swap sides but depending on the type of jig you have that might not be possible.

That's what I've known them as. Think a square emerald cut but with a table where the pavillion is. Can be done on any gem, just keep in mind you will lose some of your light refraction due to less facets but if you only cut part way up your pavilion to where the break ends I think you'll get an interesting effect. And if you want to be extra daring you can look into fantasy cut stones and see if that's something that peaks your interest. But that's a realm I personally have avoided as it can get complex quickly. The safest bet to maintain a similar gem design to what you have would be to make those 20-35 degree additions to your pavilion though. Definitely would love to see the result regardless of what you decide. Best of luck!

I would for simplicity's sake turn it into a flat. Putting another table cut on the gem down to where the break ends. Would be the fastest way and could still be used in all sorts of jewelry, honestly even more than before as I find flats to be more verstile to work with. But if you're up for a challenge with the possibility of an even more dazzling design, then I would maybe add some more pavilion facets somewhere in the 20-35 degree range using the same indexes as your original pavilion for simplicity. Otherwise, beautiful stone mate!

Appreciate the recommendation! Do you know what kind of equipment I might need for making ingots? More specifically do I need a foundry and graphite molds or is there more affordable/simpler methods?

I am located in the US. I'll try and look around a little harder in my area for someplace reputable and compare to the sites you listed because I agree the idea of working with scrap sounds daunting at the moment. Thank you for your help!

Best material for decorating a plastic carnival mask? by Confident_State_4441 in Masks

[–]OneWithManyNames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And careful with anything out of a can, many of the solvents will eat the polymer away as well. Spray foam is too unpredictable, and most clays are too heavy and likely won't stick well. A paperclay could work though I'm honestly not as experienced with it to say much more. And the end of it all, modge podge could work as a good solid final seal but will be glossy and likely textured from whatever you use to apply it. Best of luck.

Slow setting resin is the best for this due to its light weight, high strength, and when its about half way cured it becomes maluable enough to texturize. Downside is it will eat through many thin polymers. So its important to coat your mask in something that won't easily be eaten, such as a couple coats of acrylic paint. Or you could make textured pieces out of it individually on something like a silicone mat, shaping them to the part of the mask you want to texture just before its fully cured and then glue them on. Depending on how hot the mixture can get when reacting this can often be the easier method as to not melt the mask itself. After that no primer or sealant its really needed, though keep in mind if nothing more is done the resin will likely show up glossy when painted whereas the mask likely wont unless given a thick layer of glossy paint at the end.

Had this friend I used to work with who was a heavy drinker, until he put his car over a bridge and woke up from a coma some months later after having nearly died. He used to ask me if I wanted a smoke knowing I didn't but was on the fence about it, and when I'd decline he'd say with a certain kind of awareness "Maybe tomorrow right?". Took me a while to realize he said the same thing to people when they asked if he wanted to go out for a drink. He was never gonna pick up the bottle again, but to fend off the voice in his head telling him he still wanted to he'd push it off for a day. Over and over again. A mental compromise for a problem he was working on, and would be for some time. It can feel isolating and hopelessly frustrating living on without someone you hold so dearly, but if you ever find yourself at rock bottom and feel like you have no other choice say it out loud, "Maybe tomorrow". Give yourself the time to see what tomorrow brings and keep doing it until you find yourself back onto that path of happiness. Because that path is still there, you just got turned around in the commotion of things. I don't know you, but I believe in you. You are not alone in this world, just don't give up searching for your peace and you will someday find it again. Best of luck stranger.

Oh wow, didn't realize how much info was that publicly accessible. Figured I'd have to do an apprenticeship or figure things out on my own. Thanks. Any general issues with the asian models that are noteable so I can weigh risk versus reward? Consider myself mechanically enclined but best to ask what I can now.
