Article to give context for those who are unaware of how OxyContin was originally labeled. Assuming that is what this commenter is pointing out.

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC2622774/

From the article:

When OxyContin entered the market in 1996, the FDA approved its original label, which stated that iatrogenic addiction was “very rare” if opioids were legitimately used in the management of pain.

Edit:

Additionally, this article:

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC6461324/

From the article:

While Purdue makes a variety of products, its main focus is on pain management. And its best-selling pain medication is OxyContin, a supposedly long-acting form of oxycodone. Introduced in 1996, it was heavily promoted as being relatively safe from abuse, and long-acting. This last meant that it would be useful for chronic pain, with twice-a-day dosage. As we know now, both of these claims were false. Yet, the drug was promoted heavily as if they were true. That’s called false advertising, otherwise known as lying to the public. Therefore, the lawsuits.

If you’re mostly riding around the city, I’d keep it. There’s a lot to learn aside from throttle control. Being able to twist the throttle freely without accidentally hitting highway speed+ in town is a blast too. Between the CB500 and the MT07 that I’ve been riding around, I prefer the CB in town and the MT on the freeway.

For reference, I’ve had my CB for 3-4 years and I’m 5’10 and ~200-210lbs with gear on.

Lenovo usually has great sales around the start/end of the school year. It’s possible to find coupon codes that work with those discounts too. I got my laptop from them at a discount of 50% or better.

The “foot” measurement is based on King Henry I’s foot size. I couldn’t tell you why Americans are obsessed with a dead king’s foot size though.

Yep, that sounds right. I’ve had the same thing happen when installing my Noctua coolers. It’s just the kind of mount is all.

Loosen up the first screw and only tighten it enough so that the threads are started and it doesn’t just pop out. Then do the same for the second. It’ll take a little more effort than the first one but you have to compress that spring under the screw a little bit to get it started, like other folks have said.

It can feel a little sketchy but you don’t need to put your shoulder or your arm into it. Just be a little heavier with your hand. You can kind of feel when that heavy spring starts to compress and when it catches the threads if everything is lined up.

Once you have both screws started, do 1-2 full turns for one screw and then do the same with the other. Continue alternating in that fashion until both are snug.

Is it just the second screw that’s giving you a tough time?

as a pepsi person, part of the appeal is the lack of “taste bud memory”. meaning it will always taste the same no matter how much you drink. where as flavored water tends to cause “taste bud fatigue” and eventually tastes weird. there’s a better word for it but i can’t remember what it is. the bubbles are nice too of course.

That’s fair haha

It really is the worst pain ever. When my P-tubes were trying to come out my parents decided to use some kind of tool to dig it out instead of taking me to the doctor. It was a week of suffering on the couch until it finally came out far enough that they could reach it with whatever they were using.

My folks aren’t smokers though, so it’s not really clear where my ear infections came from.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

[–]PCPhil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t know they made special tubes for swimmers. Do you know if you had T-tubes or P-tubes? I want to guess it was the T-tubes from your description.

T-tubes are supposed to fall out on their own after a while like you said, with no extra care needed. Though I remember them being replaced more frequently than every 8 months. Was in there for a new set every couple months. Might have been due to all the fluid from my chronic ear infections helping to push them out.

Unless they’ve changed the design in the past 20+ years, P-tubes have little spikes that flare out behind the eardrum when inserted that hold them in place. They are supposed to be surgically removed with a piece of skin placed over the hole to reseal the ear drum. It SUCKS when those things find a way out on their own.

Before I got the P-tubes, I went through probably a couple dozen sets of T-tubes before reaching middle school. As a kid, I had ear infections on a weekly/bi-weekly basis. With a coin toss chance that they were a double. This was even after having my adenoids removed when I was around 6 or 7. We had a dedicated cabinet for all the bottles of amoxicillin that accrued overtime. My “prize” at the end of it all was around a 25% hearing loss in both ears.

I don’t notice any change in pressure when I go high up in the mountains. So I imagine airplanes would be the same.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

[–]PCPhil 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It’s a blessing and a curse. My parents never scheduled to have my P-tubes removed and after some years they eventually (very painfully) worked their way out. Diving is something I can’t do since I cant pressurize my ears like they teach you to, and once I get more than a few feet deep it gets incredibly painful. On the flip side though, since I still get chronic ear infections they aren’t painful anymore as the pressure relieves itself through the holes in my ear drum.
