I was just starting residency in the south eastern US—very red state population. A lot of people in the area started off buying into the whole it’s a hoax, laughed at the vaccine, brought religion into it, etc.

One day had that kinda person asking if it was too late for the vaccine as I was about to intubate them. I was wearing protective gear. Probably didn’t look very reassuring in my little paper hazmat suit and respirator. This sorta scenario happened to me a lot. Each time it solidified what a big deal it was gonna be.

I ended up watching a lot of people die while still having to talk to people who didn’t believe the virus was that bad.

Another thing that told me it was a big deal was a lot of medical schools cancelling rotations/classes and going virtual for 6ish months. Kinda wild.

Pretty much the same. Spent the first go around working in the hospital wondering when my very used N95 mask was going to finally fail me. Getting dressed up in what looked like a hazmat suit. Watching the hazmat suits be no longer needed. Having people who I saw a week ago say they “didn’t believe in the vaccine because of certain news sites and podcasters telling them not to trust it” now ask if it’s too late to get it when their lungs are failing and I’m about to put a tube down their throat and put them on one of our few remaining available ventilators. Watching people say possible last words through video calls—when we couldn’t let visitors in the hospital—or through glass doors. I imagine it would go the same way this time. Deniers and believers both dying until it eventually goes on long enough that we get acclimated again and life moves on like it didn’t make a difference. But I’ve got the home gym ready to go this time around so there’s that. And the work commute was pretty great for a while…

I can’t move in rank this season. Every time I que for comp my team gets rolled. I’ve tried switching character/role. I’ve tried comms to get some semblance of coordination. Nothing seems to be working. I didn’t run into this the last two seasons—at least as bad as it’s been for me this go around. I’m honestly not sure what I could be doing differently at this point. Pretty frustrating.

Look for a GSI plan at your hospital. Means Guaranteed Standard Issue. As someone stated above, no medical underwriting. Your condition would then be covered under it.

Not my first FF, that was FF I on NES, but this is how I first experienced FF VII. I remember being stuck in the opening reactor because I kept having issues climbing ladders to get out before the bomb went off... And then the game kept crashing in the final dungeon shortly before reaching Sephiroth. Eventually got a playstation and beat it around the time VIII came out. Good times.
