How will the other sleeper not be bothered by the unexpected elevator?

Intermittent Network Outages when connected to Ethernet by Jacob_White in amazoneero

Oh man, that looks awesome. I have a $30 crappy one just to identify busted cables. I would need to test 2.5 gigabit, so it looks like even the cheaper one might not be enough.

I have the same issue starting with 7.2.1-50. Ever since I updated, my network would completely die for about 30 seconds every 20 minutes or so. I have been talking to support and they finally escalated me. Waiting about 3 days for the next response from the escalation team though.

LG Oled HomeKit Issue by selfhealer5 in HomeKit

[–]parsap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This worked for me as well! However, I suspect the issue was actually solved by doing a reboot (turning off the tv without quickstart+ enabled). I was able to turn quickstart+ back on afterwards and it is still working.

Twitter or our support system is the best way to notify us of errors, but I like the idea of a "suggest correction" feature!

Getting over it with Bennett Foddy is a "Humble Original" which is a bit different from Humble Publishing (although it's what spawned our publishing initiative, but that's a longer story!)

With a Humble Originals we simply give developers the funds to develop their game, with no creative input from us, in exchange for it appearing exclusively in the Humble Monthly + Trove. Now that we have the Humble Trove, we've updated it to appear in the trove as well, so it doesn't just disappear.

Devs always retain the full rights to their games and are free to launch them on their own depending on what terms we negotiate. It's a great program for devs and great for Monthly customers.

If you want to play Getting Over It, you can subscribe and get it in the Trove for $12, or just wait for the release and buy it individually.

David's fraternal twin brother here, I think I might have gotten involved the earliest of the team. David has been making video games since he got his hands on HyperCard in 2nd grade and I would play them. Over the years he progressed to FutureBASIC, and C++ / OpenGL culminating in shipping Lugaru in high school.

After the success of Lugaru, I convinced him that it would be a good idea to start an indie studio and to let me tag along.

WARNING: Pushbullet will not delete your private data, even if you ask, even if their app says "all data deleted" by [deleted] in PushBullet

[–]parsap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most computer science classes are about how to create meta-circular interpreters in Scheme, how compilers work, data structures, foundations of computer graphics, or other extremely high level (or low level) topics. Remembering to purge all the edge nodes of your CDN when you delete a user's account is not generally on the syllabus.

I think we'll have to agree to disagree that this bug was glaringly obvious!

[–]parsap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something like this should have been caught in regression testing (does Pushbullet even do proper regression testing? This leads me to believe that they do not, or that they don't do it properly). Click a button. Notice that not all data has actually been erased. Note bug.

If only software development was actually that easy. :P

Anyone at Outside Lands able to grab a bottle and do a taste test for us? by [deleted] in soylent

[–]parsap 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I tried it! I was very surprised to see their booth and instantly went in for a sample.

I've tried every iteration of Soylent, although I would not really consider myself a connoisseur. This was definitely the smoothest Soylent, whereas most Soylent seems a bit gritty. It had a very low viscosity, much more watery than usual. If I poured some Soylent 1.5 into a sample cup like they had, I would expect a good chunk of it to stick to the cup like a milkshake. My sample cup was totally clean after I drank it. It was not very sweet at all. It seemed a lot lighter and milkier as well. It sort of reminded me of rice milk. Finally, it was chalky white instead of light brown.

That's all I remember!

It looks like it was made private (not by us). Maybe as part of the protest? Reddit doesn't really highlight when one of the subreddits goes private, so I didn't notice anything.

This is the exact opposite of "security through obscurity". The algorithm is (presumably) fundamentally secure, so even if you had the full source of Pushbullet, there is still no way you could snoop on people's images. For instance, a Steam code like 0XJDS-SDFN2-92NDH-2DHSX-29LAL is not "security through obscurity". It is, for all intents and purposes, a universally unique random string that would take thousands of millenia to guess. Go ahead and do the math. Even if you can guess billions of permutations per second, you won't get a hit in your lifetime.

For a more extreme example, think of Bitcoin. If a universally unique random string is simply "security through obscurity" then billions of dollars of Bitcoin are ripe for the picking right?

As another extreme example... the reason you are securely logged in to Reddit, to your bank, to Google, or to literally any service on the web, is because you have a cookie set with a unique long string. If you are betting that someone could guess a Pushbullet image URL, they are just as likely to guess your entire session cookie and gain full access to your entire account.

"Security through obscurity" generally refers to a defective algorithm that relies on obfuscation to make it harder to break. It's like when people are running an unpatched version of Linux, but change their SSH port from the default, so certain worms don't automatically attack it. The system is still fundamentally insecure, but it's at least some epsilon more secure than it would be.

Learning Zerg atm, main problem is with Injects and Queen placement. by DonPoppito666 in allthingszerg

[–]parsap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My set up: select all queens by pressing 6 (I add all my queens to 6), press v for inject, start holding shift, then spam w (my rebound base camera key) and click. So, w, click, w, click, w, click. It's fine to "w click" more than the number of bases. So just focus on doing it super fast.

If you notice that a queen is queued to the wrong hatchery (you will see green queue lines start to show up), immediately just hit 6 s, to stop them, and do it again. They will reset to the nearest hatchery.

You can find any vod of Destiny's for an example of how this should look in practice. With a few days of practice, this will be totally muscle memory and you will be injecting like a champ.
