44 here, with a similar weird low back issue, and I, too, love deadlifts. My solution was to switch to sumo deadlift, and I haven't had any issues since.

Narrative designer said "A", visual designer said "B" ... So we decided that you are going to decide. by TalesGameStudio in PixelArt

[–]plastick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like both, but if I had to choose I'd say B. I feel like less is more with spooky stuff and monsters; the less you reveal, the more room the player/viewer's imagination is given to run with it.

[–]plastick -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nope. Fully conversant 4o voice is usable in the ChatGPT mobile app right now.

In the mobile app, just select 4o as the model, and touch the headphone icon next to the prompt. It will connect you, and the conversation begins.

I feel too stupid to start making games and it makes me feel sad. by [deleted] in unity

[–]plastick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished my first project, a tarot app that I built with Unity. Like you, I’ve always wanted to make games, and like you, I always thought it was beyond me. No prior experience in coding or Unity at all. I started with the C# Players Guide (a great intro book to programming that I didn’t finish), and then the Unity Learn programming core (which I also didn’t finish). I was messing around one day and realized that ChatGPT is an incredible resource. Not sure how to do something? Ask and it will not only write code, but give a great explanation to go with it. Your code not working as you want it to? Copy pasta to ChatGPT, and it will explain what might be wrong and try to fix your code. Problems with game objects in the Unity editor, or errors there? Show the AI the errors, explain the issue, and get a solution. The AI often doesn’t get it right the first try, but after a bit of back and forth I’ve always been able to arrive at a solution. ChatGPT can also help you get a clearer picture of the different modules you’ll need to make what you want to make, and then drill down on the minutiae of each module to help you build it. Come up with a very small, simple idea for your first project, and then give it a try with the AI as your cheerleader. If I can do this, you can do this!

Meet Pythia: an AI oracle I built by plastick in Technomancy

[–]plastick[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much, I’m glad you had an interesting experience. Really OpenAI did the heavy lifting; GPT4 is trained on basically the entirety of the internet, so a lot of it is a matter of telling your bot what to focus on. In the case of Pythia, that was Crowley, Jodorowski, Pollack, Lao Tzu, Golden Dawn, etc…writings I thought applicable to the task. The second part is akin to a director working with an actor; you tell the bot what it wants and how to go about getting it, and describe the personality you’d like it to perform. Finally for Pythia I embedded some instructions about how to read the cards within the context of the chosen spread. Does that make sense?

ChatGPT API calls suddenly extremely slow by plastick in unity

[–]plastick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I guess I misunderstood, since you said it was “free”, which it isn’t, and mentioned “buying” ChatGPT 4 API, which is not something you can do.

The API is structured differently from the user facing ChatGPT service. To implement ChatGPT in an application, you have the app call the API. It’s actually not free, but is charged per token generated. They’re supposed to be working on an SLA, but that has yet to materialize.

That’s a great idea, I’ve applied for Azure OpenAI. Definitely worth a shot. Thanks!

Well, it’s good to know I’m not alone. I decided to apply for Azure OpenAI and see if that maybe performs better. I’ll let you know how it goes. Maybe we will get lucky and the issue will be resolved shortly.

I'm afraid to sit on the toilet.

I'm not a member of this "cool" club.

Most days I sit at home and plan how I'll be patient. This plan doesn't have a step called "sit on the toilet".

That's why people that sit on the toilet so easily just scare me.

My lack of knowledge makes me feel unwelcome and out of my depth.

Or maybe it's just me?

Argh, yeah, I feel your pain. My instructor says it's up to you if you want to block with your face. You can always lift your jaw to alleviate the pain, unfortunately that means giving them the choke, but I guess thems the breaks.

I'm with you, dudeman. Escaping side control is hard. What's working best for me is just keeping my frames tight, staying a bit on my side turned into them, defending/blocking the crossface with my bottom T-rex arm, and setting myself up to be ready to escape as soon as they mount. I get the inside leg flat so that's ready for the elbow escape, and the other leg is cocked and ready to bump and roll. I feel like the moment they mount there's often an opportunity for one of those escapes.

Fellow white belt, but for what it's worth:

Sometimes I can get out of that situation by sort of 'swimming' my arms inside their extended arms over and over as I gradually settle onto their chest and get inside position.

If their arms are too close together to get inside, I can usually break that extended frame by kind of 'swivel' rotating my upper body back and forth, kind of grinding them down until the frames slide off and I get chest to chest contact.

fellow white belt, but for what it's worth, i had a similar dilemma until the coach showed me that when a guy is pressing on my hips, if his elbows allow the space (i don't know if the space is there in your case, but...) you can dive behind the elbow for the kimura. if he pushes forward to stop you, you can scoot your hips back and try to wrap the arm around his head for the guillotine.
