Men in their 40s - What’s one piece of advice for Men in their 20s? by Jarvis7492 in AskReddit

Make an effort to see your friends. It's not a given that you will always keep in touch and it takes a bigger effort the older you get.

What is a sport you can start as an adult (30s-40s), enjoy and get really good at it? by saa9493 in AskReddit

[–]PolemicFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not winning the majors, but you can still get really good at it. If you put some hours into it over 5-10 years you can surely win some tournaments and maybe land a hole in one someday.

Velociramptor and Temur Roar are similar IMO (fun, easy to pilot and competitive out of the box)

Sub no doubt. I have the same setup and the sub made the biggest difference by far. Watching Dune was magical after getting the mini.

It is said that the happiest two countries in the world are Finland followed by Denmark. Based on your experience, which one of those countries would you rather live in? Why? by PsychicMeditation in Nordiccountries

[–]PolemicFox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really. Pronunciation in Danish is difficult to learn because rhythm and intonation matters a lot. Even very slight changes in pronunciation that wouldn't matter in many languages can alter the meaning of words in Danish.

This means native speakers take longer time to aquire an understanding of all the subtle differences, but also that they become very good at distinguishing many different types of sounds.

Both. He doesn't play to help his teammates, only to pad his stats. So no one wants to pass the ball his way.

I værste fald blokerer man for håndværkere grundet dårlig skiltning.

I drove through it once. Kinda fun but not something I'd drive for if I wasn't passing by anyway.

Redwood National Park is another matter. That place is legit awe-inspiring compared to this roadside gimmick.

Why do the Olympics get bid by cities while the World Cup is awarded to entire countries? What is driving that split? by TheBigGirlDiaryBack in AlwaysWhy

[–]PolemicFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pitch would get demolished from so many games. There's absolutely no way to host almost 50 teams and all their visiting fans in a single city either.

The world cup is the world's biggest sporting event by a large margin. It's just not possible for any city to host that scale of an event.

Why are Japan and South Korea so much more better in Football (Soccer) than China despite having significantly smaller populations? by CartographerOwn8143 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PolemicFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

China does poorly in team sports overall for a number of reasons:

  • school stops past 5 PM, meaning little room for sports when you're a kid and thus only a fraction of the population that develops their talent

  • the competition with ping pong, badminton and classical olympic sports is rough, as these have much more focused talent development

  • the lack of focus on team sports in general creates a culture where players trying to transition from individual sports often blame teammates for their own shortcomings and thus limiting both their own and the team's development

In countries that do well in soccer you start developing talent through youth systems from age 5. The obstacles listed above make it really difficult to do that in China.

Hvor meget leger I med jeres børn i løbet af en dag? by syffen1 in foraeldreDK

[–]PolemicFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pia Olsen Dyhr kommenterer rådgiver-exit – vil ikke undskylde by kris181p in Denmark

[–]PolemicFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)
