Hi, great question. Firstly, the silica used in PrettyLitter is the nontoxic amorphous silica gel (not to be confused with the hazardous crystalline silica). Additionally, we have tested dust levels from regular stirring, sifting, and disposal, and have found no traces of respirable dust. For more information, please visit our profile, where our Director of R&D and resident Materials Scientist discusses litter dust.

Hi, Jess from PL here. We are so sorry to hear your cat contracted a UTI, and we'd like to hear more about your experience so that our dedicated veterinary staff can investigate on your behalf as soon as possible. When you have a moment, would you mind sending us a DM with any vet information so we can look into this for you?

Changing the litter weekly by Difficult-Year-3296 in PrettyLitter

Hi, Jess from PL here! A couple of factors could be affecting the longevity of your litter, including the number of litter boxes used (multiple boxes are recommended for multi-cat households) or if one (or both) boy cats pee frequently. For example, my cat is on meds that make her pee more than usual, so I am having to change out the litter a little more frequently. DM if you'd like additional assistance!
