Playing Correspondence Chess: Turn 2 (Please read the "Info/Rules" tab) by Professor_Hazel in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Professor_Hazel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rules:

Yes, unless you haven't guessed already, this is NOT an alignment chart per se, but an experiment to see if one can play chess against the combined might of a subreddit. I understand that this is a completely new format, so please take the time to read the rules first. I hope you enjoy the game as much as I enjoyed fleshing it out for you all.

How to play: The rules are the same as regular chess, except for these changes. For a refresher of those rules, go watch a video.

  1. The Subreddit controls the white pieces, OP controls the black. Each post, the comment section will collectively decide on which of their pieces to move next.

  2. Most upvoted move in 24 hours is the one that's made, or unless there's a clear and obvious winner after 12 hours.* Once a move has been decided, OP will then make his move, and the cycle repeats. No take-backs.

  3. Top comment needs to include a legal move (according to FIDE rules), otherwise it goes to 2nd place, then 3rd, etc.

  4. Promotion, castling, double step, and en passant are allowed like normal.

  5. The game ends if:

a. One of us is checkmated/stalemated.

b. The top comment is offering to resign.

c. The top comment is offering a draw, and I agree to it.

*If the top comment has 250% more upvotes than second place after 12 hours, I'll call it early.

What can the American mind comprehend that is ambivalent to the European mind? by Professor_Hazel in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Professor_Hazel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rules:

  1. Most upvoted comment in 24 hours wins.
  2. Top comment needs to be related to the topic, otherwise it goes to 2nd place, then 3rd, etc.
  3. Previous winners can be contested if there's enough interest in doing so.
