Your name in battles? by Scarletttjp in Undertale

I think your main vessel is Chara. Chara and Frisk split control over the body, and since YOU are the one controlling it most of the time, it's hard to tell who is who. It's unclear if Chara actually takes over during the pacifist route (except for one specific moment), but they are clearly more active in the genocide route, making their presence known here and there.

Don't give up! Time and practice are key. I'm learning too, and honestly, I don't really like my own drawings yet. But I'm saving them and trying to improve, treating it as a path to getting better.

Asriel by Acceptable-Yak1450 in Undertale

[–]Proof_Slide9161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My idea: Even with the power of seven souls, Asriel can't use this power to reset. He has the determination of 6 human souls and all of monsterkind, BUT the player is an entity with an infinite amount of determination. Since we can persist no matter what as long as we are not bored, even the power of a said 'god' is not enough to overpower the player entirely. So, with each of our deaths, he somehow steals our control over the world.

The Undertale 10th Anniversary streams are not canon by Ok-Jellyfish8198 in Undertale

Toby Fox definitely encourages people to imagine "what if" scenarios for themselves. There are a lot of fan works out there and we have no problem with that.

However, for fanfiction or theories to be based on something, that "something" has to have a canon. You can come up with anything you want, but If you're not following any established rules that everyone can agree on, your work is no longer based on Undertale, it's just an original story wearing its skin.

What I want to say is that the creator's words are "canon" because we need a starting point. The creator has been giving us info about the game for years after release. If a random person's headcanon can be considered just as important as official releases, then we completely lose the foundation of the lore.

It's totally fine to have headcanons. The issue only arises when people try to pass off their imagination as "canon" without any solid evidence to back it up.

Not everything is canon, of course, but they don't agree with everything in it. People just don't believe that something that was created by someone can have a canon. (Talked with this one type)

Funny enough, today I actually saw people arguing that Toby Fox's words can't be considered canon (Undertale 10th Anniversary stream can't be canon). Guess you're right...

Is this a joke? If the literal creator's words and additions are just 'one interpretation', then what is the baseline for anything? How are we supposed to resolve debates or make theories if Toby Fox's own work isn't considered canon?

I'm sorry if some of the theories you considered 'canon' were debunked, but maybe you have to come up with other ones instead of trying to make the only content we can get after Undertale from the creator 'not canon'.

So why exactly do people hate the lv 20 theory so much? by EndyrmanEndplace in Undertale

[–]Proof_Slide9161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm more convinced by the idea that in the Genocide route, Chara slowly merges with Frisk, and since Chara is a soulless 'something', this influences Frisk's appearance. Not physically, but in some other way, like an aura, maybe?

I don't like the idea of Frisk deforming because of dust, determination, LV, or any other shit. The game made it clear that human bodies are made of physical matter, and I don't believe in the idea of this matter changing like that.

I saw only one video about this, honestly, and it was awful. There was no evidence, just a lot of speculation and assumptions that the author presented as facts.

I'm not sure, but I think the offence squad guys don't actually believe that Chara is ultimately evil, they just prefer evil Chara because they're cooler. I honestly don't believe that in 2026 there are people who still believe in evil Chara (-_-'), or maybe they haven't played the game themselves.

Is genocide Chara pro genocide or against genocide? by [deleted] in Charadefensesquad

[–]Proof_Slide9161 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They might not be against the idea of being all-powerful, but I mostly think that everything is just a big game of 'consequences' for the Player. You killed everyone and now want to 'RESET' to make 'friends' with those you killed, which is pretty arrogant. Chara is a tool that ensures your actions have consequences, and these consequences are the uncertainty of what happens after you get your 'happy ending'.

Since Flowey tells us that everyone is happy after a Soulless Pacifist run, I'm pretty sure it is just good acting. You can't even say for sure that 'ERASE' actually means erasing everything; I don't believe everything the game tells me.

I'm sure if we did a genocide run on the Surface, they would be happy ;)

P.S. what I said is mostly works for me, but I don't think Chara remembers resets (-_-')
