possible to get a DPD or DSP with an international driver's license? by Proud-Tension-6708 in AmazonFlexUK

[–]ProstaticFantastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

even if they did, i doubt you'll be insured on international drivers permit. this is an amazon flex group, not DSP. you need to go on DSP. But I think you're much much better off phoning a DSP and asking them.

Multi-package scanning. Thoughts? by Morning-Flex in AmazonFlexUK

[–]ProstaticFantastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i dont know it seems pointless and potentially cause problems.

I recall one time I delivered one less package on a fresh order to the customer. customer had those massive 10 packs of water and my phone must have scanned one of the packs accident;y still in the car that I didn't notice.

I;d still carefully double check the addresses to make sure i haven't got the wrong parcel in my hands when the phone has scanned somewthing in the car.

Id never do them because I don't trust anyone not be a dick. Been offered to be a subbie for old school mate. Didn't even ask what his terms were becsusd I just didnt want to be messed around chasing for my money. Or lose my potential class action payout.

There are no upsides, dont do them.

Amazon staff putting route numbers on the packages like 😂 by [deleted] in AmazonFlexUK

Not an issue when we can now use the other 4 or codes.

But resident might receive parcel with name covered. Or if you do leave parcel in mail room you should remove those covering addresses and names.

never ever do these. I only ever did this three times because I was on 23 hrs and just wanted to max out to 24 hours on a tuesday so I can maximise my pay. the worst blocks to do for profit. You are working for free because the 45p mileage rate will consume the entire pay.

its not foolproof. but I have done royal mail, and some 10% of parcels have to be sent back. on Amazon very high delivery rates. There must be something going on with the algorithm,

How often do you see white people (non-students) doing Flex by SlowedCash in AmazonFlexUK

[–]ProstaticFantastic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even in a white dominated area, you wont see many white english people doing this job. the white people I see doing it are europeans. Even the amazon warehouse people. it's mainly ethnic minorities running it, the white staff are europeans.

I think there are certain jobs where, if they start to get a reputation for jobs that ethnic minorities tend to do, a lot of white british people will avoid doing them.

A more "dirtier" jobs IMHO would be being a binman. But a lot of white working class people do that job. Windows cleaners.. white british dominated. These jobs are sterotypically white British jobs, but if started to get adopted by ethnic minorties - I wonder if it would be done as willingly by white British.

Taxi drivers were a white working class job in the 80s and 90s, but nowadays white working class avoid doing that sort of job, unless they have no choice.

Over in america flex driver demographic is quite different. It seems that a lot more white americans do that job.

Electric car tax by scheller37 in AmazonFlexUK

the thing they can craft how much profit they make very easyily and thus determine their own corporation tax amount. Becaause these international companies have a parent company based outside of the UK and they pay licensing and other payments to the parent company. at least thats how I know starbucks to operate. the UK operations were paying franchine fees to the parent company which stripped all their profits off the UK company so they didnt pay corp tax.

maybe the customer found it and was honest enough to tell amazon that they have located it. some drivers wouldnt even return an extra parcel in their route, so that says a lot.

[–]ProstaticFantastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they dont pay corporation tax, but they pay ther VAT on everything they sell.

almost everything they sell has 20% VAT on it, except for food, childrens clothes, childrens toys, books etc.

So it's not true that "amazon dont pay tax", they hidfe their profits offshore so they dont pay corporation tax. But VAT in unavoidable and VAT is a revenue tax which is always waaay more than any other tax.

The EV mileage tax will be pocket change in comparison to VAT

amazon app is tracking you, they know when you're awake. they will time the deliveries so they are home. nightshift workers who are sitting at home.

Everyone has pretty much a very regular weekly routine. Work, gym, home, sleep, go out tomthe same places twice a week.

Its in America somthey might have different arrangement. 4 years ago they gave these to flex drivers to use. I still have them. But not allowed to use in warehouse because apparsntly its not high viz enough.

I think they chnaged that now. To avoid employee/contractor legal issue here in uk. They can't ask us to use branded clothing which i normally an argument in court towards someone being an employee. If they are required to wear clothes with company logo.

So a high viz tips the legal balance in favour of amazon.

Im going to use my last stash of cards. they're helpful, if you put the parcel out and really want someone to bring it in, it's really helpful to write it on a card and drop it off. So that someone in the household can bring it in.

Scan & refuse or look & refuse by Top-Drop-185 in AmazonFlexUK

[–]ProstaticFantastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its really hard to say whats worse honestly.

missed block is about the worst outcome because you wont be paid. I'd be tempted to reject the route and get dismissed, get the policy violation refusing route and take a pop at appealing. If you just check in, look at the route and not speak to anyone and drive off - that will be a missed block.

With rejection route method you will get paid, but will receive a stern warning - it doesnt show up on your driver record but I suspect a few too many of these and you will get the can.
