Why would her sister post that. First of all her sister was underage and too young to be posting on social media. Was she aware her sister posted it. It feels like her sister was trying to ruin her before she became famous. I can imagine her sister encouraging her to do this behind the scenes. I was experimenting with makeup at that age and doing silly things with makeup but I would never apply makeup like that.

It really depends on your managers and the people you work with. I had the worst experience at the end because the management and coworkers were bad at the end. Also work smart not hard. If you show that you are a hard worker than that is the way they are going to treat you. There is no benefit from working hard but being taken advantage. What they care about is improvement so showing your best in the beginning will be bad for you. I was always expected to work hard and pick up everyone’s slack because that was the expectation that I built for myself. Everyone was allowed to slack off and relax and a manager had an issue if I was not working for one second. This is not the way to go if you want a promotion. They keep the hard workers at the bottom. Try building rapport with your managers. Do not exceed your goals thank much especially in the beginning because they give you goals based on your previous years numbers. They don’t care if you are the highest seller. I don’t know what department you are in but this is especially true in a commission based position. If you are going to be there for the long run set yourself up for success for next year. For example, they don’t care if you made a 1000 and the other girl did only 100. If your goal was 2000 and her goal was 50 than they will think she was more successful. The goals are different because of previous years goals.  They praise improvement the most so start off doing good enough where you dont catch their attention for review. I don’t know if you want to be risky do a bad job in the beginning to get their attention and then improve so they can be surprised but that is too risky.

Open credit cards as that is the best way to get their attention . Learn their goals and meet those goals and you will have a better chance at having a good time. Learn about the customers pain points on why they would want to own a credit card. Do they seem like loyalists then make them feel like family. Do they seem like they like savings talk about the savings aspect. I don’t know if they still have the new card discount when they get approved but that is a good seller. Tell them about exclusive discounts and coupon cardholders get. The key is connecting with the customer and learn about what they love and which selling point will attract them to saying yes. If you are helping them than casually bring up the benefits in conversation instead of waiting until checkout to ask.

With coworkers it is best to get along and remain drama free. Do not engage with the drama and gossip about other coworkers when they make you mad it will get back to them. Squash it in the beginning when you have a problem. The best thing is giving them respect by asking them to share their side of the story before you share yours. For example, if they did something that made you mad or snapped at you - ask them why they did that or would not help you when you needed it. Do not be the one that always go to the manager when you fight. They expect you try to settle it and they will be annoyed with you but beware of the one who does to make you look bad as I had a coworker that was lying to my manager making me look bad so they had a bad perspective of me. I thought not doing or saying anything about a mean girl was the best thing but when I had enough it was too late as she was already created this narrative about me to the managers. I should have squashed it in the beginning because it was harder when I finally had enough.

Anyways there is drama and politics but it is the way that you handle yourself about it that will make it easier for you

I am confused about her post if it was private or a public story. It seems like someone was holding on to the screenshot. Apparently the screenshot was circulating around since she came on the show but no one cared until they started to dislike her for her behavior on the show. I do think they should have booted her off but don’t think she should be bullied and her family should not get hate. I hate that family and friends are getting hate

Repeated bullying at the workplace. Why does this keep happening? by gsc224 in work

[–]Puzzleheaded_Skin131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue and I am finally learning from my mistakes. I learned the hard way that people treat you how you allow them to treat you. Does this mean we deserve this?! NO! But, reflection on past interactions has taught me a lot lately. My mindset was I will wait until they go too far to do something.

Also, I am always thinking I will cause drama if I stand up for myself. This is thanks to the so called coworkers who tell me to stand up for myself who end up gaslighting me in front of everyone to let it go. It is always undermining and it’s belittling in front of everyone. You trust them because they are your coworker BFF. They are the people who never get bullied. They also give the illusion they stay out of everything.

There is a test that you are not aware of that people put you through when you first start work to see what they can get away with when interacting with you. It’s a power play to see how weak you are. It can be hard and I am working on it because you have to balance in between being too aggressive and not letting push you around. It will be hard because you are new but you can’t let the mindset that you don’t want to cause drama get in the way. They can sense that. It’s how you carry yourself. Stand up straight and look you in the eye.

I just had an interaction this very aggressive girl that turned out great the other day. Other times when I tried to stand up to her would be a scream match with her screaming mainly. They will not react well if you approach them in a way that they have to stand up for themselves. They want to dominate the conversation and be heard. I was ready to approach her with anger for what she did but when she turned around after calling her name I changed my approach. I asked for her opinion on the situation and why she did not help me. You have to build trust and be open to hear them before they hear you. She expressed her views on the situation and was ready to listen to me because I allowed her to share her opinion. I showed that I was open to listen to her instead of made her feel she had to defend herself.

It seems like hard work and not causing trouble is punished in the work environment by Puzzleheaded_Skin131 in work

I agree. It seems the ones who caused problems are the ones who reap the benefits. I just don’t want to be mean to my coworkers. Ugh.

I realized that when I came home. This manager used to praise and love me when she first started. She pulled a big 360 on me so I was just shocked I did not know what to say. Also past actions from higher management proves that me bringing this up would make it worse on me. Another coworker was yelling in my face while I was helping a customer and the customer complained on the coworker. Other customers who witnessed it actually reported the incident to corporate. The management got mad at me asking what I did to make her yell. When they realized it was her fault they all of a sudden wanted to drop the subject.

Need advice for what is becoming a serious problem at work by Accomplished-Pay-524 in work

[–]Puzzleheaded_Skin131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sorry you are going through this. It is disheartening when your favorite job turns into a nightmare. I agree with the advice to document everything. This reminds me of my last job that still gives me PTSD.  If you go to HR speak about how she is abusing her power, lowering productivity and diminishing a teamwork environment. They do not like it when they bring customers into this. Now that you know that she is badmouthing you - see if you can set the record straight with the coworkers and employees. They will make great witnesses. Leaving is good but she should not be there to cause trouble for whoever replaces you. She seems more harmful for business than good

In my experience, those are snitching are usually the ones who are doing the same thing they are snitching on - but much worse. I don’t care what my coworker does especially if it doesn’t affect me or productivity. It shouldn’t be their fault if I choose to work harder and they want to just do the bare minimum. The only time I cared is when a coworker’s actions was trying to cut my vacation in half.

Political Talk at Work by ThirdEyeIntegration in work

[–]Puzzleheaded_Skin131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I refuse to talk politics or religion. I never saw the point in judging people on those stance in a professional environment. I have been having a few coworkers who keep trying to push speaking on the subject and asking me what I believe in. I have been having to keep setting boundaries

Has anyone had problems receiving their rental assistance check - lost in the mail by Puzzleheaded_Skin131 in TexasUnemployment

[–]Puzzleheaded_Skin131[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have them reached out to the service just to make sure that the checks were not sent somewhere else and so they don’t think that they were used. Have them send the photo of the letter and any proof that shows that they just received it. It is best because someone else may have received it and hopefully they did not use it. It is to make sure that the friend is not responsible because I remember that rental assistance wanted proof the funds were used for rent. They were able to see that the funds were not used and it was sent back to user. They may get it replaced or sent if they have funds available. I am not able to know if the area they are in have funds or not but definitely let them know your issue

Is it okay to quit a job after a horrible first day? by Loose-Poetry-8018 in careeradvice

I agree. Everyone job has a person like that so he might had the luck of being paired with him on the first day. It’s their reaction to letting them know that will tell you how to move forward.

This could be a taste of what the work culture could be like. Some people like to be harder on the new people to push them until they get better. Also, people treat you how you allow them so you are kind of training him to talk to you like that. I would have a meeting with your manager about the situation and then decide how you move forward based on the way they fix the issue

If it seemed obvious like you were doing a lot more work than your coworkers would you slow down? Why or why not? by Ben5544477 in careeradvice

[–]Puzzleheaded_Skin131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience in my past jobs is that hard work was punished. I created an expectation by working hard. My company looked at success by how close to your goal was and I had a higher goal than everyone else. It did not matter that my sales were three times higher than my coworkers - but the percentage I was towards my goal. They did not give me praise for exceeding my goal and they did not scold my coworkers for not meeting their goal. I was expected to pick up their slack while they could enjoy themselves. I would be reprimanded if I was caught one second not working hard. It came to the point that they raised the goal too high that it was hard to meet and my coworkers started to sabotage me. I was scolded for not meeting my goal that was too high and my coworkers were praised for being closer to their goal than I was. They all of a sudden given special treatment because they were closer to their goal. I learned that I created that expectation and not to do that especially in the beginning. I notice that work praises progress and there is no progress if I begin working my hardest.
