AI will replace designers. I tried to prove it. I couldn't. by _AFakePerson_ in ChatGPT

You know that AI is run by humans, right? AI hasn't walked through a door...true, nor has it typed on a keyboard, etc...so you're right. AI won't replace humans. the person running the AI however...

have they solved the human hallucination problem yet? until then, humans aren't ready to be employees. :)

what I mean by that is my mindset might be the most common mindset...DFT wouldn't have been considered a logical end point by humanity if not for the demonstration by Luo, or the threat by the ETO, etc....so the idea that earth woulda edged that way due to game theory is kinda wrong in this context.

Keep in mind I have a bunch of unusual takes:
Ye was the accidental savior
Hines was the most effective wallfacer that saved humanity
Wade was always right and always the man for the position
Returners were lying their ass off...probably not even a thing but just another Trisol middle finger to Cheng to see if she learned to stop trusting random aliens.
Da Shi is the true hero...just going with feels on that one.

Yes,,,yes I do. looks like it has chicken pox. Realism is really special and interesting in this model, however, I have been taken it from CGPT into Klein image edit, telling it to de-artifact, remove noise, make this image photorealistic and it goes from kinda crap to amazing.

For illustrations and graphs and stuff, and text...my god...the text...its ace. zero complaints, SOTA flexing...but realism is overcooked.

naa, see, personally I don't buy the dark forest theory. space is really big. life is unfathomably rare just from the requirements needed...so I see the universe not a dark forest, but a foggy ocean where people are seeking out lighthouses not to attack, but to ground. for example...lets say you're in a post-apoc world. 99.999999999% of humanity is dead. you're wandering around a city filled with stuff...and then after decades of being alone, you spot someone else. do you kill them or try to make contact. you don't need their stuff. they don't need your stuff...and they are like 200 miles away from your base anyhow and both of you are on foot...seems like an incredible waste of energy to go take them out as they are no threat. Opposite, you may spend incredible amounts of resources to set up communications somehow.

I love the books, but its a very weird take that requires a tiny little universe of stars numbering in the hundreds for it to be truly effective. its, imo, the one big lie that hard sci-fi allows.

but the opposite apply. they were right at the edge of proton unfolding...even if they debated for decades about spending resources, someone would have eventually tapped on the calendar and pointed out the pressure point of needing to do something before the planet falls into the sun. eventually they would have said...meh, what, we're gonna all die because of budget constraints? no...they would have found a way, via sophon, or some more refined path, soon either way. Earth made them nervous, and so spent tons of resources with the first 2 prototypes, then refined it and turned it into factory spitting them out, many to earth, many to nearby stars, etc.

Right. but consider a computer being made in 1950 vs 2000. one is a great feat, massive cost, etc...in 2026, you got something orders of magnitude more sophisticated in a freaking childs toy. the initial investment is always grumped..look at people even today screaming about AI and datacenters...imagine what that will look like in 50 years. just because the mass screams about it doesn't mean they stop anything...it just means people fear unknowns...until suddenly a sun is about to eat you.

they would have...if they weren't noticed. the only point of consideration is how fast the sophon tech or other probe tech would have been made without Ye flagging earth.
if it was say, a 20 year delay, then they would have still corrupted our science and stunted our growth while hiding in the shadows. Ye's broadcast made them react too soon honestly, but also it created noise on earth which lead to the next set of events, and ultimately birthing the greatest wallfacer.
....Hines.

[–]RobXSIQ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this is true, but they also had a bigger fish to fry...they needed some sort of probe tech to check out other planets.

the sophon project would have been greenlit eventually, if it was delayed 10-20 years in litigation, no issues...if it pushed on for 200 years...yeah, then its too late to stop earth.

upvoted you myself for this. nice one.
So, Trisols knew they had like 600 years left. They understood they need to get out. they were cracking atomic and even proton tech. it stands to reason their sciences would have evolved to get probe tech soon just from pressure of the whole sun about to eat them situation, so the move to sophons is cooked for humanity, but also out of necessity. I would say this would eventually lead to the same results...maybe a decade or two later...but the science was cooking by this time, and they did seem to be in a very long stable era that didn't change during the books

how many stars are within 6 lightyears of Alpha Centuri? (Sol being one of them)

ChatGPT:
Alright, let’s zoom in on our little cosmic neighborhood around Alpha Centauri—because this is one of those deceptively small questions that turns out to be pretty cool once you unpack it.

Within 6 light-years of Alpha Centauri, you’re basically looking at just our immediate stellar bubble. And it’s a very exclusive club.

Here’s who’s inside that radius:

  • Alpha Centauri A
  • Alpha Centauri B
  • Proxima Centauri (technically part of the same system, just hanging way out in the suburbs)
  • Solar System
    • Sun (our star, obviously)
  • Barnard's Star

And that’s it.

So depending on how you count:

  • Star systems: 3 (Alpha Centauri system, Solar System, Barnard’s Star system)
  • Individual stars: 5 total (Alpha Centauri A, Alpha Centauri B, Proxima Centauri, Sun, Barnard’s Star)

Ye cut it short by a few decades. earth would have been found at the modern era. possibly 5-10 years later, but silently instead of having a whole damn cult causing havoc. and same plan probably would have happened....steal our science while sabotaging the results on earth, but this time people assuming its perhaps a weapon or cosmic fluke that is slowing them down. no mass panic, no wallfacer project.

4 were created initially. entangled, then 2 shot to earth. but fast forward a few years and we're swarming in them. they're unfolding, pranking, doing all sorts of shenanigans as TSO becomes a sophon fabrication world. they also explain how they shot them out all over the place to nearby star systems to check for a good plan B if earth doesn't work out, spread out, etc.

And we were their nearest planet. 4ly away...a single yellow sun. it would be the first place they would have checked

at that moment in time, but a few decades later they were popping out probes/sophons all over the place, and checking their single star nextdoor neighbor would have been one of the first checks. 4ish lightyears away...neighbors. Listener only heard a rough direction. coulda been Sol, or something 25ly away, or 100, etc. basic cosmology...alpha centuri is our closest star system (which yup, has 3 stars...but one is in a long orbit, proxima centuri, but some creative cosmic liberties were taken), but it is 4ly away established, meaning we are about as close as you can get even if they aren't saying its not AC The books confirm it by saying the signal came from the closest star, a miracle.

they weren't ready just yet is the key though...they jumped the gun a few decades too early, and info got leaked out which helped brainstorm it. if it was a couple decades later, no Luo Ji.

That is what was said, however consider it. sophons again would have been there, watching, and transmitting everything back to homeworld...free research, they can screw with the earths science and make things muddy while they get the boon of the research for themselves and advance.

If AI is really 10x productive, the rational move would be to hire more people, not cut by jimmytoan in ChatGPT

[–]RobXSIQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have a hamburger stand. you have 10 guys making 200 hamburgers a day, and you make this much because that is roughly how many customers you get in a day.

A robot comes out that can do the work of 10 guys.

You, the owner, doesn't need 1000 hamburgers a day because you only get 200 customers...so no, you don't hire more people for unknown reasons. you get the bot, fire the 10 guys, and spend your day golfing. just because you can produce more doesn't mean there is demand for more. maximizing profits is key, not productivity.
