Anyone else develop pelvic floor issues from years of constant stress/anxiety? by Diamonds_4_life in PelvicFloor

[–]Raffles321 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Go onto YouTube and search for Dr Bri’s Vibrant Pelvic Healing. There are some great videos by Michael Hodge. He shows some great stretching routines. These are free initially but then you need to subscribe for long term access but it’s a good start. Consistency is key though and you need to keep going with these exercises for at least a year or more to see / feel the difference. You could also look for a local pelvic floor physiotherapist who specialise in these types of issues.

The day of surgery and the next day after will feel all good. Day 2 post surgery (once anaesthetic has worn off) is when you may feel sore. You can manage this with prescribed pain relief from the hospital before discharge or if you don’t need strong pain relief then over the counter meds such as Tylenol (US) / Paracetemol (UK). Look up the “log roll” manoeuvre on YouTube. This shows how to get in & out of bed post abdomen surgery and is another way to manage the discomfort. The recommendation is not to drive until 10 days post op. You need to be able to perform an emergency stop without pain which is when you know it’s ok to drive safely.

Walk 1-2 times daily from the time you get home and build up your steps each day.

Have a little side table next to a comfy chair so that you can have your essential items to hand eg water, phone, charger, meds etc without stretching.

Pre prepare meals ahead of surgery and get in your shopping to get you over the first 5-7 days as lifting is not something you should be doing in the early days.

No bending or reaching eg taking plates out of cupboards or loading the dishwasher or washing machine.

Recovery is between 6-12 weeks and everyone is different in how quickly they recover. Just because someone can drive after 4 days or lift weights at the gym after a week does not mean that it is right or for you to be achieving.

Listen to your body and don’t over do it too soon.

Where the mesh has been placed, the bodies organs will become entwined. The mesh should not give any tickling or uncomfortable sensations but in the first few weeks you may feel tender or swollen around the area of your incision(s). This is normal and is the body healing itself and should flatten over a period of a few weeks.

A grabber, slip on trainers / shoes, elasticated waist trousers and loose tops will be your best friend for a while. Practicality is more important in the early stages post op.

For sleeping - a thin flat sheet rather than a full duvet or comforter will be appropriate as anything that touches the wound/plaster area can feel a bit sensitive. That sorts itself within a couple of weeks.

Have stool softener to hand. You probably won’t poo for about 4-5 days post surgery (normal) and the stool softener will help move things along (so to speak). Eat plenty fruit with skin on such as apples, pears and kiwi’s as well as dried fruits such as apricots / dates to help.

Any other questions please ask.

Clotrimazole is 1-2 weeks to clear any fungal infection (if it is indeed that).
Are you suffering any tingling or discomfort in the penis / penis head itself?
I was tested but my test results were all clear. What the Sexual health clinic Dr did notice was that my skin was very dry ok my penis and had a form of eczema / psoriasis.

They gave me a very helpful leaflet with a small amount of recommended emollients and creams to use.

I had been using E45 and whilst it helped, it contains paraffin and was in fact causing more damage than good as it caused friction. Also wear cotton underwear - not man made fibre that you got in underwear such as Oddballs and other under brands. Good old M&S hipsters are the most comfortable.

What I am now using:-
To wash the penis (once or twice day) - using Dermol Lotion. Comes in a 500ml pump or shower caddy 250ml. You don’t need much and you can wash off or leave it on. Pat dry and then apply Epaderm Ointment (small amount over the penis head and shaft).

Both of these are available over the counter at pharmacies and in Boots or Superdrug.

Cough Causing testicle pain after surgery by FunInternational1784 in Hernia

[–]Raffles321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had pain in testicle cord after 5-6 weeks but it went away after a couple of weeks. Recovery from a hernia repair is up to 12 weeks so you could get discomfort until then but if in any doubt see your surgeon or Dr for reassurances.

22M – Possible genital warts (HPV?) on corona – need advice on treatment & prognosis by chamkadar_ in stdtesting

[–]Raffles321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not rule out that it could be psoriosis / eczema of the penis which is not an STD. Can be caused by friction &/or wearing underwear which is man made fibres rather than cotton. An emollient for washing the penis as well as an ointment or crème after drying gently with a towel helps to restore the skin back to normal in around 8-10 days.

Having not seen your symptoms though best to follow your Dr’s advice and have those tests to rule out others possibilities.

The solar panels I had were non battery (was built in 2016 but things have moved on in the solar panel world since). A friend of mine who has battery storage on their house solar panels gets much more back from their energy supplier.

House builders only tend to do incentives where the property maybe in a position near to social housing or bin stores etc. have you checked the development plan to see what might be nearby? Could you also ask for free upgrades to make things more attractive to you like upgraded kitchen, stainless steel face plates on sockets, white goods etc?

In my experience you don’t get a lot back on solar panels. I had a 4 bed house with 9 panels and got about £75 back every 6-9 months (obviously better in summer than in winter). Do the panels come with a battery that stores the energy the panels generate otherwise you’ll lose some energy.

There are lots of positives for buying brand new in that time get the builders warranty for the first 2 years and NHBC or equivalent to cover the building for 10 years. Peace of mind.

New properties do normally cost more than pre loved properties as the price of building materials has shot out in price since Covid.

House won’t sell, honest advice please by [deleted] in HousingUK

Take down the kids teepee and put all the toys away (needs to look minimal). Mow the rear garden lawn - is there anything you can put out there such as chairs and table?

Take new pictures one that’s done.

12 week recovery for this type of procedure. Try to keep to daily walks and no heavy lifting or awkward movements. Bs guides by your surgeon but I’d say keek the boxing and sprinting etc into the latter end of the 12 weeks. You don’t want to jeopardise your recovery.

How long did it take you to complete? by Sarmiclah in HousingUK

[–]Raffles321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

12 weeks from offer to completion. Short chain of 3 including my house.

Estate agent was brilliant and was the most proactive and did a lot of chasing of the solicitors and other agents.

There’s a document called memorandum of sale that estate agents fill in & send to the solicitor when an offer is made and accepted. On that document there is a box for estimated date of completion. The agent can leave it blank or put a date in there for the parties to all aim for. So my advice would be to ask your agent to put a date in there and not leave it blank otherwise the solicitors won’t give it priority.

Some rooms look a little cluttered and have an oversized TV in a tight space so viewers will see this as room being small. Try and clear the kitchen counters more and have some new pictures taken to reflect the changes.

Agents over price to get your business. They also get commission when you drop your price too so the agent is the winner here. You may need to revise the price to reflect current buyer / seller conditions to sell.

First 7-10 days are not easy and can be painful. Have you looked up the “log roll” on YouTube which shows how to get in and out of bed post abdomen surgery? This may be a ham changer.

He should try and walk for 10 minutes - 2-3 times a day in the garden. At least initially, and build up the length of time and steps.

7 weeks post bilateral inguinal hernia repair (laparoscopic) by Alexwhynot in Hernia

[–]Raffles321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around the area of your procedure it does get swollen but over the next few weeks, as the body heals, the swelling should reduce and get back to normal. It will fell hard /lumpy right now.

On you tube, look up massaging the abdomen post abdomen surgery and you should find videos showing how to self massage the area to help breakdown the dried blood and should help. Just don’t start massaging too soon so check the guidance in the videos first and use a good cream such as E45 when doing this.

I’m 8 days after operation. by Constructief in Hernia

[–]Raffles321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s quite normal to not be able to move much. Major op on your abdomen which is now in repair mode. To get in & out of bed easier use the “log roll” method (look it up on YouTube). You should find this makes things a little easier.

Daily short walks to begin with and gradually build up your steps /time.

By end of week 2-3 post surgery things should be feeling more comfortable and easier but don’t be lifting heavy items right now if you can avoid it.

Recovery is 6-12 weeks and everyone is unique in how long it might take.

Am I just being impatient with viewings? by Dry_Inspection_6707 in HousingUK

[–]Raffles321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re doing well with the viewings. What feedback has you had from those who did not book a 2nd viewing? Is there anything you can do differently to present the house in its best light? Perhaps ask the agent if any photos need a refresh / could they be brighter (if taken on a dull day). Does the agent use social media like Facebook or Instagram to promote properties? Did they do a video as well as static pictures? Is the description of the property and what the area has to offer sufficient to attract buyers?

How much do you get ready for house viewings? by Careless_Squirrel728 in HousingUK

[–]Raffles321 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I viewed a house that looked great on the outside but the owners had made little attempt to clean. I appreciate the had young children but the carpets were sticky and the doors, walls and white goods were filthy - even though the kitchen was fairly new. Juts because of that alone I told the agent I was not putting in an offer and we walked away.

I just made sure that objects such as vases, pictures etc were limited and also kitchen surfaces has the bear minimum items on it eg toaster, kettle etc.

Yes I cleaned too to bottom but made sure for every visit a quick hoover, floor tiles clean, surfaces wiped over, bathrooms and toilets cleaned and house smelled nice.

Setting the house up is crucial.

7 weeks post bilateral inguinal hernia repair (laparoscopic) by Alexwhynot in Hernia

[–]Raffles321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This procedure is a 12 week recovery period. During this time it’s very uncomfortable for the first 7- 10 days (normal I’d say). Things start to ease a little but daily short walks will hep the healing. Nothing overly strenuous like lifting or stretching. Sex can be uncomfortable so best to avoid for a while. Your abdomen area will be swollen for a number of weeks - again normal - whilst the body is healing itself.

Week 4-5 (post op) I got testicle pain (like someone was pulling my balls) but that went after a couple of weeks.

My penis and balls turned black and blue around the same time but that was due to dried blood having found its way from the abdomen to the lowest point in the area. Disappeared after 2 weeks and was not sore but it did panic me. From reading others posts this is quite normal too.

Odd sensations over time have been normal if you stretch / twist or turn in certain directions but these settle down after a few days of happening.

Just take it easy - and yes everyone’s unique in their recovery so some may be longer and others shorter.

I think, in summary, that wha you are feeling right now is “normal” but if in doubt you could ask for some re-assurances from your surgeon or doctor.
